Reece tosses me onto my feet. Before I even tilt back because I loose balance, Reece's lips are pressed against mine and his arms are around my waist. I waste no time kissing him back and fling my arms around his neck. It's a deep, passionate, toe curling, goosebump, shiver down your spine kind of kiss. The kind of kiss I'll never forget. His fingers run up my back softly to find the zipper of my dress. He glides it down and moves his fingers back down my back, to hook his hands around the back of my thighs. In one fluid motion he picks me up so my legs wrap around his waist. He takes one step towards the bed and a rapid knocking sounds on the door. Reece's growl reverberates through the room, making the windows shake.
"I would be here if it wasn't important." Hunter's voice sounds through the door. "There's an massive attack coming through from the west."Reece almost drops me as he races to the door. Hunter and a group of warriors are waiting outside our roThe light floods in as a command rings out for the end of the fight. I'm covered in blood and gore. Most of my weapons have been discarded in fallen bodies. We begin the trek back through the forest to the castles, picking up weapons as we go. Cradling the injured to make it back to the medics. Cylipso drags her weapons across the floor as she trudges right behind me. She looks drained and heavy. Blood spatters her face and hair. She has a deep gash on her left arm that I tied and patched up with my shirt. She will carry today with her for the rest of her life. I remember my first bloodshed. It started on a stormy summers evening. I was reading a romance novel in the pack library when the siren went off and everyone rushed out the small heaven. Every able body was washed through the sea of people and crashed with weapons to be strapped on. I was in the second grouping of warriors to face the attack. I remember the first enemy I faced. He was tall and had dark
We trudge home trough the thick mud and rain. Silent tears slip from my cheeks. Not for those who were lost but those who still remain. Those who mourn for their loved ones. Mates, fathers, brothers, husbands, sons. I wrap my arms tighter around myself and let out a single soft sob. Hunter silently wraps his arm around my shoulder and tucks me into his side. I don’t let the walls break though. I just lean further into his warmth. He stops dead and when I look up at him, his eyes are cloudy. When they clear he looks down at me.“Reece has been looking for you. He’s pissed.” He says flatly. “I’ve been commanded to return you to him in his study.”“Let him be pissed. There’s more important things than his anger.” I snatch myself from Hunter and continue marching home. The rain falls like a blanket to cover up the blood, the death, in the forest.I know the warriors are close behind to make sure I get b
The rising sun casts a blinding light throughout Reece's office. My eyes flutter open to see Reeces chest and the side of his couch. Last night was… fuuuuuuucccccckkkkkk! It was amazing. We went for hours and it still didn't feel long enough. He felt too far away when we weren't close like that. We didn't have the energy to go back to our room after Reece fucked me on every surface of his office. But being here, like this, it's heaven. The soft sun hits Reece's gorgeous skin, making him glow. His lips slightly curved up as he sleeps. The soft thudding of his heart in his chest against my cheek. I'm so hopelessly and desperately in love with him even though he irritates me with his possessive BS. He's still mine and I'm his and my world is complete. I can't help my fingers running circles on his shoulder. He lets out a sigh and I realise he's either been awake the whole time or I've just woken him up. Those diamond blue eyes sparkle in the sun as they l
Reece’s POV of the ball“Why are we here?” I growl out, tugging at this fucking tie. I know the answer but maybe I can argue my way out of it if Hunter says it. We’re here because a meme we of the royal family has to be present at the new alpha ceremonies and because I’m the Alpha of our pack, I have the chore of attending.“You know exactly why we’re here.” Hunter rolls his eyes at me while we walk towards the hall.“I hate suits.” I grumble.“What about the crown?” Hunter hits me on the back of the head causing the fucking thing to sit skew. I don’t bother straightening it. The girls eat this shit up. And honestly I don’t really care enough to fix it. “Listen, the blah blah bit of ceremony will be an hour tops. We’ll drink whatever’s being poured, you can your pick of whichever girl you like, you can skrew her and then we’ll head
“Did you ever think about me?” Reece asks as we walk through the warn forest path. I can’t help but look up at him confused.“What?” I ask. He chuckles at my confused state. “I swear you make me confused on purpose.”“Only because you are so cute when you’re confused.” He kisses the top of my nose. I scrunch my nose and he chuckles as we continue our walk. “So, did you ever think about me?”I take a moment to think about his question.“Did I ever think about my mate? Not really. When I was younger, I knew unless I was a wolfs mate, I wouldn’t get a real mate. So I thought about marrying someone that I deeply loved. I thought about a wedding and a family. Growing old with my husband. Then with Ben, that dream was crushed. I thought about it less and less. I just hoped to fall in love one day. Nothing spectacular. Just something sweet and safe.
“Do I look okay?” I ask as I smooth my skirt out in front of the mirror.“Yes.” Reece says from the bathroom.“You haven’t even seen me.”“And yet I know you look stunning.” He walks out of the bathroom. “Like always.”I turn and place my hands on my hips giving him a pointed look.“I don’t want to look ‘stunning’, Reece. I want to look professional.” I turn back towards the mirror and flatten my collar. “Like I’m supposed to be there.”Reece walks up behind me and warps his arms around my waist before kissing my cheek.“You look professional because you ARE supposed to be there.” He pulls away and smack me on the ass. “Knock em dead.”I squeak at the contact and take a deep breath, glancing over my shoulder at my retreating mate.
The elevator ride is filled with awkward silence. I hadn’t told Matteo or Jace my exact job description before we arrived. So their surprise and anger at HR was at least contained, for now. I don’t think it helped much when I asked them not to give the specifics of my job description to Reece. Whether or not the request will be respected and upheld is yet to be seen. I can tell Matteo is upset. Whenever I glance over at him, he still has on his scowl. He also hasn’t spoken to me since the meeting with HR.I lean over and whisper so only he can hear, “please don’t be mad at me forever.”He glances with me and I swear the scowl fades for a slit second when he rolls his eyes at me.Okay, one relationship not completely broken.I don’t know about Jace. We aren’t really that close, nothing like Matteo and I have but I also don’t want him to hate me. He’s had on a neutral mask s
“Minx.” Roy says through the intercom on my desk. “Can you come in here for a minute please.”“On my way.” I say back.Standing, I grab my diary and note book incase Roy needs something I have to write down.“Sit back down.” I instruct to Matteo and Jace as they attempt to leave with me. “I’m just going to my bosses office.” I throw over my shoulder as the click clack of heels fills the hall.I walk straight through the open door into Roy’s office, close it behind me and sit in the chair across his desk. Placing the books neatly on his desk and my right leg over the left, I wait to hear what he has to say.“We need to talk about your lap dogs.” Roy scowls as Matteo conveniently walks past the office to make coffee. “They can’t be here any more.”I don’t quite know what to say. I’m now stu
