A black SUV whistled down the almost empty road of the diversion road. Inside the car, the atmosphere was very dark and heavy.
“Are you even listening, Miss Richards?” A middle-aged man with a sullen face was sitting arrogantly behind the driver’s seat as he openly showed his disgust towards the lady seated at the back of the car.
“This is nothing like the countryside, Miss Richards. We hope you can behave well,” he said with no effort at trying to be polite.
Sitting in the last row of the car was Bella Richards, the youngest daughter of the Bluemoon pack's alpha. She was cockily chewing a gum in her mouth as she stared at the man with her beautiful eyes and thin lips that were slightly crooked as she listened to the senseless words of the man in front of her.
“You should always be thankful to your older sister, Miss Caitlin. She was the one who insisted on finding you and bringing you back into the pack.” The man’s voice suddenly shifted into a proud tone as he mentioned the alpha’s other daughter, Caitlin Richards. “She went against the council’s objection to taking you back—”
“And so?” Bella asked in a bored tone as impatience finally got the best of her. She was already tired of the endless and needless rambling of this guy.
“Caitlin asked for me?” Bella chuckled coldly as soon as the question left her lips. Her eyes mocking and cold as she finally lifted her head and turned to look at his eyes. “It was her and her mother who sent me to the countryside when I was a child. For years, I didn’t have anyone to look after me.”
The man in the front seat was too stunned to say anything. He wasn’t expecting that this lady would talk back. He heard how meek and scared she was as a child.
“So pardon my attitude if it is not on a par with the standards set by your lovely young lady.” Bella’s voice was filled with sarcasm.
“You…” the man uttered angrily, but Bella just playfully winked at him before returning to her original position earlier. She pulled up the headphones that were hanging on her neck and put them on as she let her eyes get lost in the moving scenery outside the car’s window.
The loud music drowned the voice of her father’s useless men. She let her mind temporarily wander around her memory lane as familiar sceneries appeared in front of her.
After years of being neglected in the countryside with no one but an old man to cater to her needs, Bella can’t believe she’s back in this city once again.
It actually baffled her after receiving news about her father’s request to bring her back. She was six years old when her mother, who was a mere rouge died. The luna of the pack, Caitlin’s mother, hated the sight of the living evidence of her mate’s infidelity and so they sent her away with the excuse of teaching her how to be independent.
Her father, who had no real attachment or affection for her, said nothing and just conceded to his wife’s request, sending the six-year-old Bella to an unknown place without no one to depend on.
She was so sure that she held no place in the family. But what actually does her father and that two-faced sister of hers want from her?
When she got out of the car, Bella looked up at the familiar and yet unfamiliar house in front of her. Her heart wavered a bit as memories of her mother’s loving eyes resurfaced in her mind, but she kept smiling to hide her emotions.
“You’re here.” Her attention was snatched away by the man who had just come out of the huge mansion in front of her.
“Behave. It’s your sister’s birthday today and there is a party ongoing. Know your place.” Allen Richards told her coldly before turning his back on her.
Bella rolled her eyes and quietly followed him inside.
Inside the mansion, the crowd was boisterous and vivacious.
‘So this is how Caitlin celebrates her birthday?’ Bella mockingly asked herself. She can’t even have a slice of cake for her birthday!
The guests raised their glasses to toast and gathered around in groups as soon as the father-daughter duo entered, their eyes curious and judging. Soon enough, loud sounds of whispers lingered in the air.
A petite girl, wearing a high-fashion evening gown and delicately dolled up ran over sweetly, “Daddy!”
Allen Richards affectionately stroked the girl’s head, his eyes' loving gaze directed at her. The gaze of a loving father gave an indescribable mockery to Bella’s eyes.
“Oh my gosh! Are you Bella?! You’ve grown up!” Caitlin’s gray eyes flickered with the lights as she stared at Bella with a haughtiness that was not seen by everyone.
Bella wears a wide short-sleeved shirt, white-washed jeans, and a pair of very simple sneakers while carrying a black backpack. And there’s one word to describe her… cheap.
Her very presence is the very opposite of the expensive-looking Caitlin in front of her.
A guest from the side opened her lips and spouted disgusted words while staring at Bella. “Who is that, Cait? She reeks of weak blood! Oh my God! Don’t tell me she’s an omega?!”
Caitlin subtly bit her lower lip to hide her smile. “Stop it, guys. This is Bella, my sister. We were separated for a very long time. She grew up in the countryside, so I guessed she was pretty much outdated, but I hope you won’t look down on her just because of that.”
Caitlin’s words sound like a concerned sister. However, in reality, her words had already pulled down Bella’s name into the dirt.
The curious eyes of the people around immediately turned contemptuous. They were all sons, daughters, nephews, and nieces of powerful pack leaders who usually look down on the weakest of their kinds.
“I requested for her to come back here because I already missed her so much and I wanted to be the one to educate her before she actually has her first turn!”
“That’s so nice of you, Caitlin!” the girl complimented. “But you should be careful. Even though she’s your sister by blood, you can’t be too sure of her intentions.”
The surrounding people nodded in agreement with the girl’s statements, chiding in some comments and advice from here and there.
Bella unintentionally looked around, only to feel full of the strange eyes and new things in the mansion. All the familiar furniture in her memories is already gone, replaced with new ones.
“But she’s just an omega. Have you vacated a room in the servant’s ward for her?” the same girl mocked once again.
Bella picked on her ears with her own little finger. Impatience resurfaced in her fair face. “Some people really enjoy talking big.”
The crowd suddenly went silent hearing her arrogant tone.
With no one’s words, Bella blew on her finger before she ascended herself upstairs, leaving the stunned looks of the guests.
Everyone had an incredulous expression on their faces. How can a mere omega be this arrogant?!Caitlin hated the thought that everyone’s attention was now centered on Bella, who just left. Her gray eyes dilated in kept anger as her face fell and a soft sob escaped her lips, catching the attention of the surrounding people.“Daddy…” she called out like a kid as tears formed in her eyes. “Does… does Bella hate me?”Allen Richards felt a headache coming from the mess his youngest had made, but he comforted Caitlin still. He hurriedly walked over to her and enveloped her in his warm embrace.“It’s okay, Caitlin. You know she was gone for so long, she probably didn’t learn much during her stay in the countryside.” Although Allen never really likes Bella around, it’s true that she’s still his daughter. Now that she’s staying with them, there are a lot of opportunities to teach that child some manners! As people crowd around the crying and heartbroken Caitlin, no one noticed a man standing q
Bella checked the other footages too, hoping that Mr. Cinderella hadn’t gone home yet tonight but soon enough, the corners of her mouth curled up into a gloating arc. What does she expect? That man surely came to the party to suck up on Caitlin. He probably realized that just his pretty face was not enough to get his hands on the Bluemoon pack. Finally realizing how stupid she was trying to search for that guy, Bella returned to scanning and checking each footage around the villa. When the scene on her screen flashes a garden filled with expensive flowers, a mocking smile crossed her face. In the middle of that garden is a man, and a woman locked up in a tight embrace. She immediately recognized the woman as her sister, Caitlin Richards, who should be busy entertaining the guests in the living room. But what caught her attention wasn’t Caitlin’s presence but the evil-looking face of the guy she was with.Burning with curiosity, Bella shut her computer close, put it inside her bag an
Hope Richards’ face immediately lost all of its colors as they watched the heated scene in front of them. She can’t believe that was her demure daughter in front, moaning and groaning responsively with the man’s every touch. The crowd was so stunned that some even almost stopped breathing while watching everything unfold in front of them. The tiny sounds of people’s shock interrupted the busy couple from their activity.“Gaspal!” Caitlin called out with a delicate cry as she finally see the crowd behind them.Under the dim lights in the garden, her lips carried a suspicious shine and the sleeves of her gown were in disarray. Her hands clutched tightly into Gaspal’s coat. The scene was very awkward for a long while before Allen Richards’ voice roared in the dimly lighted garden. “Caitlin!”Hope Richards’ face distorted before her eyes widened in an understanding of what actually happened. She remembered that bastard's confident announcement earlier.Allen never expected for his demure
Inside Bella’s bedroom, she laid still on her bed with her eyes closed. Her forehead knotting in irritation. After five more minutes of trying to call for sleep, she sat up furiously. Her hand reached out to scratch her long and disheveled hair, while annoyance filled her eyes.“Damn, Caitlin! Now I can’t sleep anymore!” she hissed angrily.Bella exhaled an exasperated breath, got up, and went out of her room. She’s a light sleeper who values the little few minutes she could rest. But that goddamn sister of hers just knows how to further ruin her already ruined day and just destroyed her once in a blue moon peaceful nap! While she was about to descend the stairs, she heard Allen Richard’s voice coming out of his partly opened office.“This is a serious matter at hand, Gaspal! I must make a move in order to salvage the pack’s reputation!” Bella leaned on the wall just beside the slightly opened door. Quietly eavesdropping on the conversation inside.“I understand your concerns, Alpha.
Bella was only six years old when her mother got severely sick. One night while her mother was having another painful seizure, Bella run out of their room to ask for help. They were never allowed to go out unless being called but she was already bawling her eyes out asking for help for her dying mother.Unfamiliar with the house, she ended up coming to the last room at the end of the corridor. The door was slightly open and she immediately saw the beautifully decorated room inside. It was very different from the small and plain room she and her mother uses. The heart of the child was immediately distracted. She quietly entered the room, constantly looking around.“Wow!” she cheered as she looked around the huge room. She wanted to have a room like this too! “Shut your mouth!” the young Bella’s eyes widened in fear as she heard Hope Richards’ angry voice coming from a distance. She then realized that she was about to get caught inside this beautiful room. She frantically looked insid
The next morning, as soon as Bella got up, Allen took her and Caitlin to report to Brighton University together. The family seemed to have made peace regarding the conflict of last night’s chaos and only Caitlin had a stern face along the way, glaring at Bella who was preoccupied with her phone every now and then. When they arrived outside of the university. Allen turned to face his daughters with a stern and strict face, his alpha aura dominating against them. “This is the best university in Cynth City. Make sure not to cause any trouble in here, I took a lot of effort to get you both in,” He turned to look at Bella. “Especially you Bella, your grades are not good, the admin’s only willing to admit you to the education department. Though it was a low-cost profession, you can go back to the countryside to teach if ever.”Bella raised her eyebrows suspiciously, where did he see her grades from? And what? They aren’t good? That what should be good?Caitlin immediately gloated at her, k
The vice principal’s face darkened. “You claim to be Bella’s father . . . right?”Allen nodded readily, ecstatic to finally get some attention from the university’s higher-ups.“Then I shall say you failed being a good father,” the vice principal said with a blank face. The principal looked irritated as he silently watch the scene unfold, his eyes glaring a bit to the two unwelcome presence by the door.“What do you mean?” Allen asked, completely at loss with the vice principal’s words. “How dare you say her grades were poor? Have you seen them?” the principal asked.Allen, loss for words remained looking at him with a confused expression. His wife had told him how bad of a student Bella is. According to Hope, almost all of her subjects are failing and that she only gets to proceed on the next level with her help by bribing the small schools on the countryside.“Seems like he didn’t even checked it himself,” the principal butted in with a cold voice. “If she has poor grades like wha
Suzie stared at the bracelet, didn’t know what to do with it. This was the first time she get to receive something from someone. It had always been her giving something to others that this sudden turn of tables somewhat warmed her heart.“This… this is expensive. I don’t think I can take it.” She can smell Bella’s omega wolf and she wasn’t sure if it was right to take something this precious from someone who was at a bit of a disadvantage against her rank in society.“Nah. That’s fake, so no need to feel burdened. You can choose to wear, keep or throw it away. Your choice.” Bella said with a grin before lying her head on the table and started to prepare for a nap despite the noise inside the rowdy room.Suzie’s eyes went back to the dazzling sapphire ornament of the bracelet, and a soft chuckle left her lips.Their family business is in the line of jewelry. There’s no way she can’t determine a genuine gem.She stared at the bracelet a bit longer before she finally wore it around her w
