Chapter Five

ZACHARY

I woke up feeling light chested and deliriously happy,my mind reeled back to meeting with Leah and I was smiling sheepishly. I shook my head and got up from the bed and headed towards the bathroom to freshen up.

 Liam was on the couch in sitting room looking dazed and had the same sheepish look I had on my face few minutes ago,I just stared at him and then went to the kitchen counter to whip something up for us for breakfast. I heard his footsteps approaching the kitchen and I turned to inspect him some more as he was looking and acting weird.

" Uhmm…Liam, you good??"

" Uh ..oh yes yes,am good Zach….All good".

  I stopped whisking the eggs and looked at him again, Something was definitely up with him and I needed more information than ' yes yes am good' from him,so I pressed further.

" You look extremely happy, Buddy…Care to share?"

" Zachary, you're not going to believe this but I've imprinted!!!"

I stood there, shocked to the core. Liam had found and imprinted on his mate,and am yet to?.I was downtrodden, jealous but also happy for him too.

 "Congratulations man!,no wonder you were looking like a lost puppy earlier, hopelessly in love…I teased him and we both chuckled.

 "Thanks Zach,I vouch your mate is coming soon"

" I'll only be hopefully,Liam….Come on let's eat before it gets cold"

I dished for us the fried eggs,bacon and toast,and watched as Liam got orange juice from the fridge for himself,I went with coffee and we sat down and ate.

" Zachary you coming for the campfire party right??"

" What campfire party?"

" Seriously?...we organized a campfire party at school and it was announced"

 " Ohh..I didn't get the info, but sure I'll come"

" Cool, I'll come pick you up by the way, this eggs are delicious."

" Thanks man"

" An Alpha with amazing culinary skills,the elder will be impressed"

 I laughed and Liam chuckled and gently punched me in the arm. Liam left and I tidied up and couldn't stop thinking why I hadn't imprinted,it was customary and it was only a matter of time before the elders summoned me for that particular issue.

 The entire atmosphere at the campfire was all pumped up and everyone was having a good time,I tried to look happy although a lot was on my mind. Liam and I strolled down to the farthest side and sat on log with our drinks and was just observing the crowd. I immediately spotted Leah and her friend Amelia giggling and heading to the drink stand, as if been told she immediately she jerked up and her eyes met mine instantly…She looked suprised, like she wasn't expecting me there and gave me a little wave and smiled. I just nodded and looked over the beach. Liam tapped me on the shoulder and told me he'll be back, again I nodded and he went away.

  I suddenly felt a presence besides me on the log and without turning around, I knew it was Leah.

" Hi Zachary??...Are you ignoring me again, thought we were over that?".

" There's something called quiet time,Leah and am am observing my peace and quiet".

  She chuckled and brushed sand off her skirt and then she was whistling a tune that sounded familiar, she looked so radiant and happy. I just kept staring because I couldn't look away, it was like am seeing her for the very first time and it was thrilling,my wolf suddenly growled with pleasure at the sight before us. I shook back to reality when she called my name.

"Zachary,Can you tell me about your wolf?"

" There's really nothing to talk about it,Leah"

" Are you sure about that, because I made some pretty good findings and I can assure that there's really something to talk about".

" Findings? What findings??".

" Just nevermind, tell me about him,Does he have his own name??"

" I call him Ajax,and he's is own personality and whenever I turn…. like he is in charge and it's pretty cool".

"Wow.. That's amazing, Zachery -

I have another question"

"That will be the last question for today Leah".

" Ok ok alright….How does it feel to be Alpha of a pack, does it stress you??"

*It's pretty stressful Leah. But it's my responsibility and I try my very best for the entire pack."

  Leah nodded and looked away as if she was trying to preserve every piece of information I'd just given her, and me on the other hand kept wondering if my life will be truly complete if I had my mate.

 " Can you take me to the Den, Zachary"?

    I was completely lost in thought,and suddenly snapped out of it when she asked that question,I looked at her and wondered why'd she wants to go to the den.

 " Are you nuts, Leah?"

 " Am perfectly sane, Zachary and I'd just want you to show me the Den….Take me on a tour, I'll promise to behave and do what you tell me to, please"

" No!"

" Zachary, please…..it's the least you could do after ignoring me for that period"

" I won't take you to the Den, don't push it again,Leah"

 I was getting anger and that was not a good thing,we were in the middle of a campfire,full of students and I didn't want that sort of attention. I felt her presence edging closer to me and placed her palms on my shoulder gently,I felt a sort of seren ity all of a sudden and had the urge to sniff her so badly…..I turned and grabbed her hand and held it fiercely while looking deep into her eyes,she was breathing heavily and her cheeks were flushed looking into my eyes too without moving,I felt as if we were telepathically interacting.

I broke the stare and nodded my head her her.

" We'll go, but just for an hour and you'll promise to stay by my side and obey whatever instruction I give you".

" I promise, Zachary"

" Will go tomorrow, I'll pick you up"

" Alright, I'll go find Amelia now…. Take care "

I nodded, because I was to stunned to speak, what effect had she on me??...I had just agreed to take her to the Den!

I had to find Liam and leave this place immediately,I stood up and went towards my jeep ,Liam would find his way home,I had to leave immediately.
