MasukMarley's head raised up to confirm the voice.
She was right. It was him.
How did the hell did he find her?
A man sat on her kitchen stool and grinned at her through yellow-brownish teeth.
“I finally found you.” He chuckled and Marley's stomach churned inside.
“I wasn't hiding at the first place.” Marley said and the bulky fellow behind her dragged her hair up making her wince in pain.
He forced her into a kneeling position.
“You say you weren't hiding.” The man snickered.
“Then why couldn't I find you?”
“Maybe you were too dumb.” Marley replied viciously and she received a hair yank from behind.
“You haven't chabged. You are still as feisty as before.” The man admired. “And still as beautiful.” His lustful eyes roamed over her which almost made her puke.
“I still like you.”
“You shouldn't have broken into my house and make me kneel before you if you like me.”
“Well girlie, when it comes to business I treat everyone the same way, even the ones I like.” The man got up and came before her.
He scrunched to her level.
“Where is my money girlie?”
“I owe you no money crook.”
The man wet his lips with his tongue. “Don't play with me girl.”
“Your father was in a huge debt before he died.”
“He paid it all before he died, I saw his bank statements.” Marley snapped at him.
“That wasn't all girl. He took a big loan from me right after that. He owed me girl and couldn't pay before he kissed the world goodbye.”
The man sighed. “He shouldn't have been a bad daddy, leaving his little girl with a huge debt to pay.”
Marley's eyes turned red and she spat on his face before she could stop herself.
A slap was reciprocated and her head tilted sideways.
“Bitch.” The man cursed and gripped her hair, yanking it hard so she could face him.
“Don't play with me and don't upset me. I could kill you right here and right now and no one would do anything about it.”
The man breathed in as if calming himself. “I don't like hitting girls especially pretty ones like you. I'm giving you just three weeks, arrange my money before I come looking for you.”
He released her hair and got up.
“My money or your life. It depends on you girl.
~~~~~~
Marley placed an ice pack on her face after they left.
She went into her room, it was in a mess.
Her jewelry box was opened and nothing was left in it.
Fuck you. She cursed.
Her files. Her heart skipped.
And she went to her safe box. She put a pin combination and it clicked open.
She exhaled in relief, all the documents were intact.
They couldn't access it.
She texted someone.
~Don was here.~
~What?! Did he do something rash?~ A text came back.
~No, I'm fine.~ Marley grimaced at the pain strucking her left chin where she was hit.
~I want you to evacuate that place. Come back to the headquarters.~ The text read.
~No! I can't leave not until the mission is complete.~
~You can continue the mission over here.~
~I can't. Anthonio already knows this place.~
The message showed three dots, the receiver was typing and Marley immediately texted.
~Don’t try to stop me.~
After some minutes a text came up.
~Just stay safe. We will deal with Don.~
Two pair of eyes from the shadows watched Don and his men get into their cars and zoom off before stepping out from the shadows.
A man in black overall and a face cap stared at the apartment lighted inside.
He took out his phone.
“Someone raided her house and waited for her to get home. She met them when she came back.” He spoke to the receiver.
“I'm not sure what happened inside but I recognize one of the men. His name is Don, he is a loan shark and also a bastard.”
“Don't worry Boss. I'll find out what was being discussed inside.”
He watched Marley's house for some minutes before leaving.
~~~~~~~~
Marley stared at the computer before her but didn't see anything at all.
She was in deep thought.
She knew Don wasn't bluffing when he said three weeks. She knew how he operated and how devious he was.
She knew her father had gone to Don for a huge loan, she remembered lashing out at him for even getting involved with a person like Don.
She had gone through hell to gather half of the money and she had given it to her Dad, he had also gathered the remaining half and had cleared the debt.
Now Don is back stating Father had taken a loan again.
But what for?
She sighed wearily.
“Any objections Miss Neils?”
Her mind snapped back and she saw her boss and her fellow colleague staring at her.
She had forgotten she was in a meeting and had zone out.
She cleared her throat. “No ma'am.”
“I thought as much.” Her boss continued with what she was saying and Marley tried not to slip into her thoughts.
After the meeting, Sofia blocked her way. They haven't spoken since that paper store incident.
Marley had left immediately after seeing Sofia's smirk.
“Hey Marley.”
Marley eyed her. What does this conniving bitch wants?
“Hmmmm…. You haven't said anything since that day.” Sofia said.
“And what did you want me to say? It's your life and your body. You can screw anyone you want and by the way Mick and I are no longer an item.”
Marley stepped away from her moving to the door but stopped when she heard Sofia scoffed.
“Who do you think you are? Always acting like a self-righteous bitch.” She heard Sofia mutter.
Marley snickered and turned back.
“At least I'm not a whore who goes around screwing bastards in store rooms. And by the way I forgot to tell you.” Marley lips curled up.
“Thank you for fucking my trash.” Her heart felt at peace when she saw Sofia's face reddened.
Marley went out before she could reply her.
Bitch.
How dare she speak to her in that manner after betraying her trust, acting like a saint while she was just a fucking hypocrite.
Marley humphed then sighed.
This wasn't what she should be dealing with. Don was still on her neck.
How was she going to settle the debt?
~~~~~~~~
“Mom.” Anthonio hugged the petite woman before him, who was grinning from ear to ear.
“My son… how long has it been?” She pouted.
“Ohh Mom, don't be so dramatic. It's has only been a month.”
The woman exclaimed. “One month you say! And you brush it off as nothing.”
Anthonio shook his head and entered into the house.
He came over to have dinner with his mother and sister and it warmed his heart.
He has missed his mother alot but didn't visit because he knew how emotional she becomes when talking to him.
Always inspecting him secretly, as if she was looking for any clue of illness or fatigue or even a piece or remnant of the boy that had existed five years ago.
Anthonio always felt vulnerable under his mom's eyes and he had kept away for one month.
“Brother!” Mandy came out of the kitchen and ran to hug him which he returned.
“Little one.” He ruffled her hair.
Her chin shot up with defiance. “Stop calling me that.”
“I won't.” Anthonio chuckled, sitting down.
“Mom.” She whined to the woman who couldn't keep her eyes off of her son.
Anthonio took the napkin and set it on his lap then he noticed something.
There wer
e four plates on the table instead of three.
“Are we expecting anyone, Mom?”
His mother giggled. “Yes my boy.”
“Who?” Anthonio asked just as the doorbell rang.
“She is here.” Mrs Kalvey rushed to the door.
“Hey, girlie.”Marley's stomach churned at the voice. No one needed to tell her who was calling.How did this crook get her number?“It isn't three weeks yet Don.”“Yeah, I know girlie. I'm just checking up on you, in case you wanna pull any funny business I just wanted you to know you can't run away from me.”Marley cursed in her head.“So how is it going? Have you been able to gather anything?”“I'll give you your money when the date is due. And after that, I don't ever want to see your face or even hear your disgusting voice again.” She hung up before he could say anything.Fuck. She had only been able to arrange ten million.Where was she going to get the rest of it?Her mind went to the headquarters. They will surely help her, they wouldn't want anything to disrupt the operation.They had promised to help in every way they could.She was about to phone them when a call came in.It was an unknown number.Was it Don?She picked up and snapped.“What do you want?”Silence.She stare
“What are you doing out here?” Mandy said behind Anthonio.He switched off his phone and turned to her. “Just answering a phone call.”Mandy came to stand beside him. “You seem to be taking a lot of phone calls whenever we are together, are you struggling at work? What is Peter doing to help?” Anthonio smiled at her. “Are you worried about me little one?”“Why won't I be? And for the last time stop calling me that.” She replied and Anthonio chuckled.“What's funny?”He shrugged. “Nothing. Just realizing my baby sister has finally grown up.”She snickered. “It took you long enough to realize it finally.”Anthonio's hand came to ruffle her hair and she smiled.They kept quiet for some time, each dwelling on their own thoughts.Mandy sighed. “I know how you felt when you saw Benita today. I was also surprised seeing her after she walked out of our lives five years ago.”Anthonio's jaw ticked.“It was foolish of Mom, but I'm sure you know why she did that,” Mandy said.“When will Mom com
Mrs. Kalvey opened the door and welcomed someone in.Anthonio's eyes darkened when he saw who it was.Benita.“What the….” Mandy gasped behind Anthonio, also not expecting Benita to be here.Benita smiled awkwardly at the two siblings whose eyes were sending daggers her way.Mrs. Kalvey broke the tension in the room.“Have a seat, dear.”“Mom what is she doing here?” Anthonio asked.“To have dinner of course.”“Who invited you?” Anthonio directed the question at the quiet woman who hadn't spoken a word since she stepped in.Benita opened her mouth to speak but Mrs. Kalvey beat her to it.“I invited her.”“Why would you invite her mom?” Mandy growled. “Did you force my mom to invite you here?” Mandy scowled at Benita, hatred lacing her eyes.Benita clutched her dress nervously.Maybe this was a bad idea.Maybe she shouldn't have accepted the invite to dinner.“I didn't.” Her voice came out quietly. Her eyes lingered on Anthonio who didn't look her way. His face was tight, his lips set
Anthonio watched Marley disappear through the hallway and he smirked.Well, well, well.The group were chattering among themselves and didn't notice when he got up, also disappearing into the hallway.He didn't see her.His hunch told him she wasn't going to the restroom so he walked down to the hallway reaching the rear.He followed the left turn but something told him to turn back.His hunches has never been wrong before.He took the right turn and went to his study.He pushed the door open but he saw no one in.His brows knitted together.Where was she?He closed the door and started up again reaching the rear end.That was when he saw her.She came out from a corner typing on her phone.“Where were you?”She jumped and looked at him.“Oh my God. You scared me.”“Why will you be scared?” He walked up to her.“Because I wasn't expecting you to be here. I thought you were eating with the others.”“You still haven't answered my question. Where were you?”Marley raised a brow at him. “
“Anthonio run.” A man screamed out just at the same time a gunshot rang out.Anthonio saw the man's dead eyes stare at the him as he slumped to the ground.The masked man who had shot him, diverted his attention to Anthonio who stood at the entrance of the room.A gunshot sounded at the same time Anthonio ducked and ran.He kept running through the woods, hearing footsteps behind him.He needs to live.He can't die like this.He ran with all his might, the nearly sealed up wounds opening up now.Blood oozed out, weakening him but he kept going.Suddenly he fell and hit his head hard on a rock.Blood trickled from his head down to his eyes and he opened his eyes slowly.A gun was directed at his face, the masked man looming above him like death itself.He was going to die.A gunshot.“Noooooo.” Anthonio jerked up from his bed drained in sweat.His chest heaved.Always the same nightmare.Every details the same.His head rang loudly and he winced.He struggled out of the bed and went to
