Chapter 3

Author: Simple Fish
Once Dominic started eating again, his body slowly began to recover.

During this time, the old man came by every day and taught Dominic various things.

Some of it was about how to kill. Some of it was about how to survive.

The first survival rule the old man taught him was simple.

When something feels off, it probably is.

Before doing anything, you have to think it through, understand the logic behind it, and only then make a decision.

He also taught Dominic how to read expressions, watch body language, and judge what people were really thinking.

As he learned, Dominic realized the old man's knowledge was incredibly broad. He knew a little about everything.

More than that, his insight and judgment were far beyond those of ordinary people.

It was obvious that before going to prison, this old man had been someone extraordinary.

Dominic once tried asking about his background. The old man gave him a half-smile.

"Kid, let me teach you another survival rule: Don't be too curious. Curiosity kills the cat."

With that, he patted Dominic on the shoulder.

"You don't need to know who I really am. Just remember my last name's Hart."

Ten days later, Dominic's injuries had mostly healed. After an examination, the infirmary doctor told him to pack up. He would be sent back to his cell that night.

Dominic glanced at the clock on the wall. It was just past 2 p.m.

After thinking for a moment, he suddenly said, "Doctor, can I go back now?"

The doctor looked at him in surprise. Most inmates who made it to the infirmary tried to stay as long as possible.

Dominic, on the other hand, wanted to leave early.

The doctor didn't ask many questions. Once Dominic left the infirmary, he was no longer the doctor's problem.

"I'll arrange a guard to escort you back," the doctor said, turning to leave.

Hart was cleaning nearby. Seeing the doctor go, he walked over to Dominic.

"Why the rush to go back? They're all out working right now."

Dominic glanced at him and explained quietly, "Tonight, there'll be eight people in my cell. All of them are Scarface's men.

"If I go back at night, do you think I'll have any chance of staying alive?

"But if I go back now, at least I've got a shot."

Hart froze for a moment, then looked at Dominic closely and smiled.

"Not bad. You really are something.

"Alright. I'll be watching. Remember what I said: If you survive this, I'll help you get out of prison."

Dominic clenched his fists, his eyes burning with resolve.

-

Before long, Dominic was escorted back to his cell block.

Just as Hart had said, everyone was out working.

Their crew had been assigned to rooftop repairs.

Dominic was taken straight to the roof and handed over to the guard there.

The inmates working on the roof immediately noticed Dominic's return, and the place erupted in noise.

Scarface's men were the loudest, yelling threats and shouting that Dominic was dead for sure.

If the guards hadn't driven them away, a fight would have broken out on the spot.

Even so, Scarface, now missing one eye, glared viciously at Dominic and made a throat-slitting gesture at him.

Dominic acted as if he hadn't seen it. After listening to the guard's instructions, he walked into the work area and got started.

Scarface crept up behind him and hissed through clenched teeth, "Clarke, you ruined one of my eyes. You're dead.

"I checked myself out early just to wait for you. When we're back in the cell tonight, you'll see what I'll do to you."

Dominic looked at Scarface without any expression.

Scarface's remaining eye burned with rage.

"What, still not convinced? Hah, very well. Tonight, I'll see how tough you really are."

Dominic said nothing. He locked eyes with Scarface, murder in his gaze.

That look made Scarface uneasy. He snapped angrily, "Keep staring, and I'll rip both your eyes out tonight!"

Dominic took a deep breath and looked around. Then he suddenly turned back to Scarface.

Scarface was about to speak, but Dominic moved first.

He wrapped his arms around Scarface's waist and, like a crazed bull, charged straight for the edge of the roof with him.

No one saw it coming.

By the time everyone realized something was wrong, Dominic had already carried Scarface off the roof. A dull crash echoed from below.

Everyone on the roof was stunned.

This was the fourth floor. Was Dominic really trying to kill himself?

People rushed to the edge. The guards panicked, blowing their whistles as they ran over to keep order.

No one wanted to step back. Everyone stared down in shock.

Below, Scarface lay flat on his back, with Dominic sprawled on top of him.

Scarface had taken the fall underneath, absorbing most of the impact.

Because of that, Dominic was barely injured.

Scarface was not so lucky. Multiple bones were broken, and he lay there coughing up blood.

Even so, Dominic didn't stop.

In front of everyone, he grabbed Scarface's head and smashed it into the nearby wall.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Blood ran down Scarface's head. He had no strength left to fight back.

Everyone was horrified.

Every inmate here was tough, but no one had ever seen someone this ruthless.

Dominic was trying to kill Scarface with his bare hands.

The guards on the roof shouted in fury.

"Dominic, stop!"

"Dominic, don't do something stupid!"

"Let him go!"

Dominic ignored them and kept slamming Scarface's head into the wall.

The guards on the ground rushed in and finally restrained him.

Scarface, his head covered in blood and his life uncertain, was carried away.

Thomas ran over in a rage and pointed at Dominic.

"Are you insane? Do you even know what you've done?

"You were only sentenced to a little over 20 years. You blinded him last time, and now you've beaten him up. All of this could get you sentenced to death."

Dominic wiped the blood from his face, looked at Thomas, and suddenly stepped forward.

"Kill me! Go on. Do it!"

His head was covered in blood, his eyes wide as he roared. He looked terrifyingly savage.

Thomas took an unconscious step back. He had never seen someone this unhinged.

The other inmates nearby were pale with fear.

They were brutal, sure. But they weren't crazy.

Faced with someone who truly wanted to die, anyone would be afraid.

The notebook mainly recorded transfer logs and various transaction records. Each transfer entry had a receipt attached from the time the money was moved.Dominic didn't recognize any of the account names, but the amounts involved were enormous. The transfer records were only the beginning. Toward the back, there were photos. Those photos were far more direct. Most of them were explicit bedroom photos. They showed adults, sometimes men in their 50s or 60s, lying in bed with young, attractive women.Among those photos, Dominic even found pictures of Judy. She appeared in bed with at least a dozen different men.He also spotted bedroom photos of several celebrities.Dominic didn't fully understand the transfer records at the front. But looking at these photos, he could pretty much guess what they were about. There was no doubt Stanley had taken these photos. Those men were likely powerful figures. Stanley used young women to entertain them, secretly took photos, and then used

"Th-there's a safe upstairs," Nicholas stammered. "If you don't believe me, I-I'll open it right now and give you all the money inside."Besides, if you kill me, y-you won't make it out either. The cops will hunt you down!"Dominic said coldly, "You think I'm afraid to die?"My parents are dead. I never planned on living anyway."Killing you and your old man is how I avenge them. I don't mind going to meet them soon."Nicholas's face turned deathly pale. He hurriedly said, "Y-you're not afraid of dying, but what about your friend?"He helped you fight us. That makes him an accomplice. So many people died here. For an accomplice, how many years do you think he'd get?"Those words made Dominic stop mid-motion.He looked over at Hector. He wasn't afraid of dying himself, but with so many dead here, Hector definitely wouldn't walk away clean.Hector had fought Stanley just now. If law enforcement dug into this later, Hector could easily be labeled as his accomplice.Seeing Domin

Dominic kept his eyes locked on the two men while reaching down to pick up his shoe from the floor.Earlier, when that bodyguard grabbed his leg, he had yanked the shoe right off.Holding the shoe, Dominic backed up a few steps, then bent down as if to put it back on.The two bodyguards immediately seized the opening and charged together, raising their blades and hacking straight at Dominic.Just as they were about to reach him, Dominic, who had been crouched over, suddenly straightened up.He didn't put the shoe on at all. Instead, he yanked off his sock and swung it hard at the two bodyguards.Earlier, Dominic had stuffed a plastic bag full of lime inside that sock as well.Pretending to put his shoe on was just a cover so he could pull the bag out and get the lime ready. It was also meant to lure the two bodyguards closer. And sure enough, they charged right in.With a sharp flick of his wrist, the plastic bag inside the sock tore open, and the lime exploded outward in a w

Ignoring the pain, Dominic wiped the blood off his face hard, clenched his teeth, and struck again, slicing that bodyguard's throat as well. That situation didn't last long.In the end, Nicholas managed to drag Rowena over to the liquor cabinet. He grabbed a bottle and hurled it at one of the bodyguards. "Catch this!"The bottle slammed into the man's chest. His reaction was quick. He caught it immediately.Without hesitation, he popped the bottle open and poured the liquor straight over his face. The alcohol washed away the lime. His eyes still burned, but at least he could open them now.He wiped the residue off his face and shoved the bottle into another bodyguard's hands. "Wash your face! I'll deal with this guy first!"With that, he lunged toward Dominic. The other bodyguard took the bottle and did the same, splashing liquor on his face to clear the lime. The first bodyguard had already reached Dominic and slammed into him, tackling him to the ground.Seeing this, Nicho

The glasses Dominic had prepared ahead of time turned out to be useful. At least it blocked some of the lime powder. On top of that, he had smeared a lot of oil over his body earlier, including his face and even around his eyes.Lime can be wiped away with oil, so it barely affected him at all.The bodyguards, caught completely off guard, had lime burned into their eyes and couldn't see anything around them. With oil all over the floor, several of them slipped and fell in the chaos, turning the scene into a complete mess. While the bodyguards were busy squeezing their eyes shut and dodging the lime, Dominic charged straight into the crowd. The first ones he reached were two bodyguards desperately rubbing their eyes. Lime mixed with moisture made the pain unbearable, and they had no attention left for anything else.Dominic reached them and struck without hesitation, using both boning knives to slice their throats. They followed the same fate as the earlier guard, collapsing to

"You can't even begin to understand who's backing me," Stanley said coldly. "If I want you dead, it's no harder than stepping on a bug. Got it?"He waved a hand in irritation. "If you won't talk, I'm done asking."He turned to the bodyguards. "Take him out. We'll deal with the body later."As he spoke, he leaned in close to Dominic and let out a low, mocking laugh."See those two guys over there? They're the ones who killed your parents. And now you're dying by their hands, too."That makes a nice, clean circle for your family. Starts with them, ends with you."He laughed openly, smug and satisfied.Dominic's vision went red.He stared at the two men, the murderers of his parents, his gaze stripped of everything but murderous intent."Stanley!"Dominic barked the name like a curse.Stanley smirked. "What? Finally ready to talk?"He shook his head. "Doesn't matter now. I don't even care about that autopsy report anymore. I just want all of you dead. Burn the evidence and mov
