I stand my ground despite getting suddenly weak from the hit, using a lot of force as my last resort to get out of the grip of the one behind me. And with a quick motion, I elbow him in the face.
Still, I was in the middle of the two, with a kick being aimed at my guts. I respond to the attack by blocking with my left hand and snappily using the cosmic ability at the same time. It clearly hurt him as he has to withdraw his leg from mine without wasting time, his skin revealing from the ripped part of his clothing.
But I was too distracted with fending him off that my mind went off the fact that I still had one behind me. It wasn’t until I was sent to the ground with a kick to the back of my head did I realize this was becoming more difficult than I bargained for.
The same thing happened again with the one behind me trying to get the bag off me as I lay on the ground with my face to it. Swiftly, I grab his arm with
Impulsively, I start to move back at the sight of the man that had ordered Garrett to stop what he intended doing. Even before my eyes caught the sight of the man, I had begun to tremble in fear of being seen by someone else from the pack when I should have been lowkey all through. Damn the bastards that attacked. Garrett already has his head turned around to stare at the approaching man and that was why he could not tell that I have started to walk away from the scene. Apparently, it would be useless if I would try to outrun either Garrett or the approaching man in this situation, knowing how well they could catch up with me in the blink of an eye. It wasn’t until our eyes collide, and I’m talking about the man, did I stop. It was momentarily, though, as I was right back on the backward steps in no time. “Where are you going?” Garrett was looking right at me as he finally realized what I was doing.
It’s not like Garrett and I knew nothing about it, but the beta’s claim affirms the theory totally. We were made targets for the books, but who would mastermind such a thing?“Do you know why they came for them?” Garrett threw a question at the beta who looks from side to side for a while.“For obvious reasons,” the beta says. “They were here to possibly destroy any evidence that links to why the whole conspiracy began. Hired, actually. Come, let me show you two something,”And that was when the beta starts to walk off until he stops over one of the victims of Garrett’s massacre. Following that, he bends such that he was squatting and supposedly starts to examine the body.I give Garrett a look who reciprocates it with one and we were both off to where the beta was to see what he has for us.“You see this mark here,&rdqu
Five hours straight, and it almost seemed I have found myself in a classroom. What have I been doing during those periods other than going over the books that could lead to the supposed conspiracy from the big reveal of yesterday? Pretty serious, I know. The attack on me and Garrett who had led me to his territory should be the biggest highlight of yesterday, but what it made me find out eventually made it less significant. Although it was sort of a piece in a puzzle, it didn’t weigh a tad bit to the reveal. Getting fed up already, I peel my eyes off the book I am practically skimming through. The second one in hours. When I look up, I come in sight with Garrett sitting across me with his mind completely on his version of the documentation. If I had at least a bit of his concentration, I probably would have finished with the one I have with me. “What’s on your mind?” I do not know how long I have been staring in Ga
A sudden double knock on the door. And another a few seconds later. It’s only been a few minutes since Garrett and I went silent after he gave me the contents of the book he was reading from which we most likely have deciphered the meaning to already. And because of that, the incoming knock felt like it was linked to the revelation.Exchanging a look with Garrett when the knock comes in for the third time, I realize it could be for someone else, especially when Garrett looks at me weirdly.“Well, are you going to get the door?” Garrett asks, apparently expecting me to do the necessary.“I don’t know,” I say in a tone close to a mutter. “I’m getting bad vibes from it. More like someone is here to haunt us,”“You really think someone would hit you or something as soon as you get the door opened? Is that what you’re s
Asides from the keywords, I would sum up Luke’s explanation to be a load of jargon. Terms I was finding difficult to understand. But I did grab the main point of it all. An anonymous source was destroying evidence of my pack’s existence.Garrett suddenly asks Luke, “Did you get the rest of the data to serve as proof that the council hasn’t been doing their jobs right?”“Yeah,” Luke nods, “I have it saved in my drive. The drive is right here with me,” and he taps the cross bag that he has with him while speaking.I notice Garrett staring at me so I stare right back, but he takes his gaze off the moment I do so.“Have you made any progress with the books?” Luke speaks up after about a minute of silence has reigned in the air.Garrett was quick to respond. “Yes,” he says, “My father documented in thi
We ran like our lives depended on it... because they did.How Garrett got the strength to hold on to his unconscious friend without his speed being affected surprises me. Funny enough, he was still in his human form, which makes me rather curious as to how he was doing it.Something tells me he chose not to transform because he knew I would be unable to keep up with his speed. If it had not been for the weight on him limiting his speed, which I’m sure is intentional, then there would be no catching up with him for me.I was right ahead of him, straining my ears at the same time to know if I would hear anything or anyone on our tails. But all the while, I’ve got nothing. The reason we were running right through the woods after escaping my now dead grandma’s house was that the backyard of the apartment was connected to the woods. She had her apartment right among those in the outskirt
I guess whatever you run from keeps coming back to you. Like an addiction or so. You tell yourself you do not want to do it anymore, you do not want a part of it again. But at the end of the day, you find yourself in it again. That is just like my chronicles with the Green Woods pack since I escaped from it a few weeks ago. For two different reasons, I’ve had to come back. And those two reasons were really worth the risk. If one has a connection with the topmost body, why wouldn’t it come easy to penetrate a place you should be dreading? This time around, it took a lot of mental convincing that I needed to be here. Two days ago when I had been here with Garrett for the books, what had happened after that was something I wouldn’t want to be repeated. And I’m talking about the two events that nearly got me killed. The main reason I accepted to be here was that I have nowhere else to run to after my
It was stuffy in here, so much that I was finding it hard to breathe. Imagine being put inside a space that doesn’t fit the size of your body but you have to squeeze yourself in it so you can stay at least comfortable. And to add to that discomfort, a load of clothes is used to cover the whole of your body.Just as it seems ridiculous right now to think of was the same way I had frowned upon it when I was told it was the way I would be positioned before I could go out with the boys as planned. Luke, whose car was being used to transport us to our destination, had directly told me I would be going with them in the bunker, adding that it was the only option to take so I won’t be caught on the way. I would say he was following Garrett’s way of stating I should stay hidden. The only reason I agreed eventually was because I didn’t want to end up walking to the place. It was much of a distance away from the Green Woods pack
