Cole's pov

During dinner with Vanessa, I couldn't get over the fact that she kissed a man who dumped her like she didn't even matter just for revenge.

I didn't know why, but it felt like my heart was on fire because I had sighted them from afar but had chosen not to make a big deal out of it. However, the hurt resurfaced now.

I had been away from Vanessa during the night, and not for once did that stop me from glancing at her even while I was chatting with other businessmen.

She was an epitome of beauty in her royal blue knee-length dress, and her midnight hair swayed almost close to her ass as she discussed with Sheldon.

"Sir, are you alright?" Vanessa pulled me out of my trance; her hazel eyes gazing at her with smiles embedded on her lips.

"You're frowning." She became concerned, and I rolled my eyes inwardly.

"Why was she pretending like she cared if she could kiss another man?" I held tightly onto the cutleries, and veins popped out on my hands.

"Sir, sir?!" Her words echoed in my head, and I felt like the world was about to collapse in front of me.

"Let's go home." Without waiting for her comment, I signalled for the waiter to come with the bill. When he did, I brought out my card, and after payment, I stood up, leaving her in the restaurant and made way to my car.

"Sir!" I could hear the clicking of her heels against the walkway. I stopped in my tracks with my back turned against her.

"Why the rush?" She asked, sounding breathless.

I could hear how confused she was from her voice, but I didn't think she deserved an explanation from especially after betraying me in the name of a revenge.

Without saying a word, I rushed into my car, and after turning it on, I drove off without Vanessa, leaving behind a trail of dust.

From the side view mirror, I watched her running towards the car, but after a while, she stopped, taking continuous breaths.

"That's what you get for messing with me with." A victorious smirk was plastered on my lips as I drove home.

The darkness welcomed me when I got into my home. I guessed it was because everyone had gone to bed and because it was almost eleven. I had a strict time in my house. I knew even the staff deserved rest.

"Daddy?" A small voice peeked through the darkness from the stairs, and I squinted my eyes to see my little angel seated on the stairs.

"Baby, why aren't you asleep?" I slowly ascended the stairs, and as soon as I got to my daughter, I lifted her up with my hands.

"Daddy…!" She laughed while she screamed, revealing her perfectly white teeth.

"You're in your pyjamas, so what else do you need-"

"Tell me a story!!!" Her voice was filled with so much energy, and it didn't seem like she was going to sleep soon.

"Of course, Snow." I pinched the bridge of her nose as we walked into her room. The lights were turned off, which meant the servants put her to sleep, but she needed me. "Snow? Did you pretend to be asleep again?"

"Nope." She covered her face with her little palms, slowly removing it to see if I was still staring at her and when she saw that I was peering at her, she returned her hands to her eyes.

"Snow, you know you need rest." I took her hands in mine, drew her close to me, and placed a warm kiss on her forehead.

"Let's get you to sleep with a story." I tucked her into bed and picked up the storybook on the counter, but she instantly objected to it.

"Tell me a story about butterfly!"

"Butterfly?" I got confused at first, but then when I finally recalled who she talked about, my face hardened.

"Daddy, please…" She pouted.

Her grey orbs mesmerized me, and with look on her face, I couldn't say no to her.

"Once upon a time, butterfly was a girl who went for a birthday party to find a prince," I started.

"Was the prince you?" She asked in a quiet voice with a flicker of delight in her eyes.

My eyes bulged out at the words of my daughter.

"No!" I was sceptical about it, I wondered why my daughter would think such a thing.

"She was wearing a birthday hat," I messed up her raven hair.

"And… She ate too much cake." I rubbed her stomach with my face, blowing raspberries on it and she giggled, kicking her legs.

"Butterfly must really be cool." She yawned as she spoke with lidded eyes and proceeded to rub them with the back of her palm.

"Hmm, maybe." I pecked her on the forehead again, waiting for her to fall asleep before I tiptoed out of the room.

I sighed when I got to my room, tiredness evident in my eyes, and the fact that snow talked about her like that pissed me off. I didn't even want to say her name!

I pulled my tie angrily as I tried to take it off, I was going to have a calm shower and then a good rest before work tomorrow.

"Fuck you, Vanessa," I said through gritted teeth as my cock hardened when my mind recalled what happened last night.

"I can't even bath in peace without you hunting me!" I angrily turned off the shower and stormed into the room with a towel tied on my waist.

The water from my body dropped on the floor but I wasn't bothered.

"All I needed was something to clear my mind off this Vanessa girl!"

I rushed to the counter on my room and picked up a bottle of whisky.

"Help me forget!" I gulped it down, allowing the burning sensation to simmer down my throat, but I couldn't stop seeing her smiles.

"Maybe it would be great to sleep?" I tried to move to my bed after drinking almost half the bottle of whisky, but the way I swayed caused me to land on the floor with everything around me spinning.

"Vanessa you Bitch!" I yelled as th darkness took me away.
