Jeremy didn’t even know where he was going, but he was sure of one thing: He had to warn Avery. Oh damn, what was his problem again?

Running out on Emma. Again. How would she feel? His stomach churned, he could turn back and go home, join her and they could sip coffee together.

He raced towards the Imperial Restaurant, and stopped at the entrance, checking his phone, he went inside. The restaurant was almost closing for the day, the place was empty except for some people who stayed behind to catch the latest gossip.

Where was Avery? His eyes glanced around nervously, and when he saw a figure seated on the chair, one hand swiping through her phone, the other clutching a cup of coffee.

Sharp jawline, petite cheekbones, pursed lips, it didn’t take two and two to know that it was Avery.

“Avery.” He scooped himself towards the seat.

She glanced up at him, at first, shock flashed in her iris. “Jeremy?” Her voice felt tightened and stiff. “What are you doing here?”
