Cathy couldn’t breathe and suddenly she began to cry softly in relief. Ted’s warm lips on hers was everything she wanted at that moment and she opened her mouth to hungrily taste more of him. His kiss was strong, and his mouth claimed every portion of her lips, it was almost painful and by the time he pulled back to rest his forehead on hers, they were both breathing hard.

Ted’s hands began to roam her body searching for any signs of injuries. He pulled back when he felt several cuts on her side and looked down at her body

“I’m fine,” Cathy hurriedly reassured him, warm tears slid down her cheek. “I’m fine. You came in just in time.”

His eyes darkened again, fingers tracing the outline of one small cut. His jaw clenched so hard that the bones popped. He was angry and the flare of his nostrils indicated the intensity of that anger.

“Ted, I am…”

He didn’t let her finish before walking away from her.
