Damon's POV
"Your Majesty! We found him over here!" I hear my blood and heart pumping through my ears as I run as fast as I can toward the shouts. Torrance came to my study to inform me of an attack right outside of my kingdom's borders.I shift into my beast's form to get to the scene quicker. I can sense his bloodlust as I smell the overwhelming coppery scent he does. Blood. It's everywhere and I can't escape it.When I arrive, I see one of my men. It's Nero, barely recognizable, but it's him. His body is shattered and there are bite marks up and down it in no discernible pattern. It's almost like whatever made these bites was in a frenzy, biting wherever it could.Nero must have put up a good fight. I go to him and kneel down to his level. His breathing is shallow and he looks like he's going in and out of consciousness.I bring him into my arms in an attempt to bring him a bit of comfort. He's too far gone, so this is the only thing I can do.I hang my head down to his ear and whisper "Nero, if you can hear me, you did good. You were brave and the kingdom thanks you for your loyalty and dedication. Rest and let the Goddess reward you with paradise."With a last heavy, but shaky exhale, his body stills and the light is gone from his eyes. He's gone. I hope what I said brought him peace. Nero was a newer guard, not yet mated. He was a junior who had great promise to becoming a general. Now that was gone. The beast within me bellows in anger as I hold another one of my men dead in my arms. I cannot wait to find out who is responsible for this. As I pant heavily, I see a familiar raven fly towards me."Torrance, it's about time you got here. Do you have any new information for me?" The raven shifts into a sleek, pale figure. He looks as emotionless as usual as he dons his favorite black leather suit that goes with his raven black hair that floods straight down his shoulders. He's a shapeshifter and a damn good one. While his kind has been thought to be extinct, the royal family has been in contract with them, or at least those who remain. In exchange for their protection and secret existence, they work alongside the royal family for different roles. Torrance just happens to be my personal advisor. He has the perfect advantage to gaining information while going unnoticed. While the shapeshifters are known for not showing emotion, I notice that Torrance is as he strides closer to me. It looks like pure, unadulterated rage. "Damon, Your Majesty."He pauses for a fraction of a minute. "I have some most important information. We are dealing with Hybrid attacks, and I now know how they found us. It's the leader of the the Silver Rock pack. He's working with Hybrid leaders. They promised him a despicably large sum for our locations."My lungs expel all of my breath in one painful moment. The Hybrids are a group of procreations between werewolves and vampires that came to be over a hundred years ago. There is a treaty written between the Werewolves, Vampires, and Hybrids to coexist peacefully. If any of the sides were to break that treaty, well, it would mean war.I clench my fists and clench my teeth. Lancaster Mills. I have never liked him. I hate him even more now that I know he's a traitor. There were rumors of him losing his mind completely after his mate died in childbirth making him into the cold hearted dick of an Alpha he is today. Nobody knows what happened to the child as he refuses to speak about it.Whatever happened no longer matters. This man is a cold blooded traitor that has endangered my kingdom and I will make him pay. "Torrance, get my convoy ready. I need to pay Alpha Mills a little visit, and maybe annihilate his entire pack as a message."After a entire night's drive, we pull into the Silver Rock territory. There are wolves bowed to the ground at the entrance and along the border. Word must have gotten out that I was headed this way. A smirk makes its place on my face. These wolves have no idea what's really coming to them.I stop the convoy and exit the vehicle. I can sense their fear as this isn't part of normal routine when royalty makes a visit. "Tell me where I can find your Alpha. I must have a word with him."A smaller wolf is the only one to move. He's a youngling who has recently received his wolf. Only 17 years old and he's about to die because of his Alpha's actions. He signals me to the direction of Lancaster's location and enters back into his bow. Without another word I put a quick end to their existence to show them mercy. It isn't their fault that their Alpha chose to doom his pack.As I drop the heart of the last wolf, I make my way towards the rest of the territory, striking each wolf I come across while my men set fire to their remains.I hear a commotion towards the far end of the property I walk up on. There's screaming and crying in between what sounds like leather striking down upon skin. The sound makes the hair on my body stand on end. The screams sound sweet and feminine and my beast is in a fury.I have no idea why he is reacting like this, but he has a way of sensing things that even I as the Lycan king can't. It takes all the control I have to remain in my human form and proceed forward. As I get closer, the screams get louder and I hear shouting between three persons. "I should have killed you when I had the chance." There's malice in those words. The voice sounds familiar and it doesn't take me long to make the connection to Alpha Mills. When I enter the house, the wolves remaining scramble. Food bowls and other dishes are knocked violently to the ground in their attempt. It doesn't take me long to take the hearts of them all.On my way back out, my ears pick up something about an axe. There's panic and urgency rising up from my beast. What is with him? I make my way around the back of the house and the scent of fear and blood hit me like a brick wall. Before I know it, my beast has taken control and my body is propelled through the wall. Behind me is an enormous hole and around me is a cloud of dirt and rubble. In front of me is three bodies, two of which were thrown from the force of my blast through. This was it. This was the man responsible for the deaths of my men. Each of their faces play back in my mind. Lucian, Aaron, and Nero. All helpless to what came for them. My rage hits a new high. The time to do this is now. No backing down.Leena's POVI see Silas return through the blood running over my eyes. He's holding something long in his hands but I can't quite make out what it is. Whatever it is, he hands it to my father. "Here father, I feel like this axe will be the proper tool for her discipline. Maybe we can make it her final one and finally be rid of her pig face. I don't understand how she stays this big when we starve her the way we do." My father shrugs nonchalantly. "She must have gotten crafty with sneaking the food while she was preparing it." He turns to spit on me. "That won't happen again. We'll keep better inventory of our belongings from now on. This is a very nice axe Silas, wherever did you find it? No matter, it should take care of business just fine." He lifts the axe in the air and prepares to thrust down upon my body. I brace myself for the impact when everything stills. My father and Silas go into a trance like state, which tells me there's a pack broadcast alerting them of something go
Damon's POVThe man next to Lancaster is scrambling to bow as a show of respect. I'm disgusted by his audacity and drill my arm straight through his chest, grabbing his heart in the process. As his body thuds to the ground with blood pooling from the wound, Alpha Mills starts to sputter out a pathetic excuse. His face is drained of blood from fear. Just looking at him pisses me the fuck off. Saving his pack? He ensured its destruction! Before he can say anything else, I slam my arm through his chest as well. I can feel his heart pump beneath my fingers. I grab it and feel surprised it's warm despite his reputation of it being cold. I grab ahold of it and rip it from his chest cavity. I take a few seconds to observe his pain as he watches his heart take its final beats in front of him. Quickly he falls to the side, lifeless. I throw Alpha Mill's heart onto the ground and put it under my feet in a final act of degradation. There's a young she-wolf kneeling before me. She's been like
Leena's POVI can feel this man's strong presence in front of me. He's not making any movement almost like he's studying me. I feel anger rise up in me. I just wish he would get this over with. If he's going to kill me, he's sure taking his sweet ass time doing so. I muster all the courage I can to address him. "Your Majesty, if it isn't too bold of me, please show me mercy and make it quick." Stupid, I'm so stupid. Of course it is out of line to ask him that, let alone even speaking to him. I just can't take the suspense. The silence continues and grows deafening. My fear grows the longer it does. My thoughts run wild at the thought of what he will do to me. Will he make it quick and rip my heart straight from my chest like my brother and father before me? Or will he tie me up and take it slow?My core lights up with a delicious thought of him tying me up to a bed and having his way with my body all night long. I have no idea why I thought this. I've never felt anything like that
Damon's POVI hold her in my arms in a cradle to help ease some of the pain from my movement. I see in my peripherals that my men are busy with cleaning up my rage. There's bodies, blood, and destruction everywhere. Not only did I come to kill them all, I came to tear down the territory that the pack built. My hope is that this will send a message to the others that this is what happens when one crosses the kingdom. When one pack falls, we all suffer. I do have a nagging feeling that this may make it more difficult in future interactions with other pack Alphas, but this was necessary for all. LookI don't especially like having to punish my people, not like this. I know that the Silver Rock pack members had nothing to do with their Alpha's treason, but I had no choice. The law is there for a reason, which is to prevent terror of this scale. My heart fell for my people that were dead by my very own hands. Damn Lancaster Mills. Damn him to hell. Though I know that I took care of this
Leena's POVI'm running through an endless maze of my pack's territory. I hear footsteps thundering behind me with malicious growls echoing around. I can feel my heart pounding throughout my entire body. No matter where I turn, there's no end in sight and I can hear Silas and Lancaster not far behind me. They're taunting me. "Run little piggy! We're coming for you." I step on a branch and twist my ankle, causing me to fall hard onto the ground. I fight to get up when suddenly there's a foot on my back. I can hear Lancaster laughing as he's finally caught me. Fear washes over me and I can tell that this is it, he's finally going to go too far. I start struggling beneath him as he raises an axe to my neck. All I can hear is my blood rushing in my ears and the scream that I strangle out. I'm still screaming as I wake up. Thank the Goddess, it was only a nightmare. But that doesn't stop the fear taking over me. My senses are foggy as I start to come to. My head feels like it's split
Damon's POVIt's now six hours into this meeting that I've called. I turn my back to the highest ranking members of the royal guard as they argue amongst themselves on the best strategies we should be taking.I find it harder to concentrate as each hour passes from pure physical exhaustion. The longer the time drags on, the more impatient I grow. I can't admit to them that my mind isn't fully on this meeting. With each passing second, my thoughts drift to my new mate and her well-being. As soon as we drove through the gates to the palace, I rushed her to the infirmary and filled them in on her status. It's been seven hours since then and I haven't heard a single update. While I know no news is good news, it doesn't calm my nerves any. This is the last thing I need right now while dealing with these Hybrid bastards. A long sigh escapes from my chest and lean lazily on my desk with both hands placed on top. There has to be something that can be done. Something that not even they can
Leena's POVI open my eyes to see the most beautiful man standing at my side. He's pinching the bridge of his nose in annoyance and exhaustion. This is King Damon Saxe. The Lycan ruler. I should be trembling in fear, but I can't help but feel warmth while looking at him. He has a large frame, with a height roughly around 6'5" and bounding muscles that take up the space around him. There are scars on his face, which has dark stubble on it, but that doesn't marr his rugged beauty. The sharp, chiseled features of his face soften as he opens his eyes to meet mine. My breath leaves my lungs instantly. His eyes. His icy, silver eyes pierce through me. "Leena, you're awake again. Every single time I think you've finished sleeping, you drift off. How are you feeling?" He gently helps me sit up and adds another pillow behind me to give me comfort, then sits next to me. "Your Majesty? Where am I? What's going on?" Guilt washes over his face. "I had to wipe out your pack a few days ago. I
Damon's POVIt's the evening by time I get back to our room and I see she's asleep again. How extensive were these injuries? The longer I dwell on it, the angrier I become, and the hotter my blood boils throughout my body. I've been spending the past several days between watching her sleep, training, and having meetings with my men about strategies. Sleep has been off and on, practically nonexistent during the entire time she's been out. Dixon won't let me sleep anyways. I feel the unease deep within me the longer I watch. I shake my head to help alert myself. I need a shower, I probably smell pretty rank right about now. Before I head into the private bathroom within my chambers, I lean down to stroke her hair. As I'm moving it from her face, any uneasiness on it disappears. Almost like my touch is enough to calm the waters of her healing mind. I sigh as I force myself to step away from her and head toward the shower, turning the water on as hot as I possibly can to ease the sore
