Kayla's POV

After my fight with Hector, My thoughts became so dark that I ended up pacing the edge of the sanctuary for hours.

I just wanted to be alone to sort out my depressing thoughts.

Depression, anxiety and despair were a horrible mixture to have. I didn't know what I was supposed to do next. To train or not to train, to go to Adrian or stay away from him.

It felt like every option I chose would go horribly wrong. I was now more lost than before I even came here.

Later that evening, I had to force myself to return to the camp side of the sanctuary.

Ingrid was waiting for me in front of my room with worry in her eyes. She had that look on her face, the one she wore when she knew something was off.

“Luna Kayla,” she said softly, standing up as I walked into the camp. “Are you okay?”

I gave her a small smile, but it didn’t reach my eyes. “Yeah, I’m fine.”

She didn’t seem convinced. “Did something happen? You were gone for a while.”

I bit my lip, trying to push away the feeling

Kayla's POV The Oracle’s eyes studied me with an intensity that made me want to shrink back, but I stood my ground. She clearly thought this was a bad idea but I didn't care. My determination to get back to the pack, to Adrian, was crystal clear. I wasn’t about to let anything stop me. “You are a very stubborn woman,” she finally said, her voice soft but full of wisdom. “I see it in you, Kayla. You are determined, fearless even, but you are also walking straight into a storm.” Her words made me feel both complimented and and scolded, but I knew she was right. I had already sensed that danger was waiting for me. I’d felt the pull of it in my gut, but I couldn’t sit here and wait. Adrian needed me, and I wasn’t about to abandon him, no matter how many risks I had to take. “I know,” I muttered, shifting on my feet uncomfortably. “But I have to go.” The Oracle sighed, a soft, almost resigned sound. “I admire your courage, but courage alone will not keep you alive. • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    The necklace of doom

Kayla's POV The Oracle reached out and took something from a hidden pocket within her robe. It was a necklace — a delicate chain with a stone that glowed faintly in the light. It was unlike anything I had ever seen before, carved with intricate runes I couldn’t recognize. “This will help you,” she said, handing it to me. “It will regulate your power, help you control it when it surges too much or refuses to be called up on, But you must be careful. The more you channel through it, the more it will feed into you.” I took the necklace, my fingers brushing against the cool stone. It felt alive, pulsing with an energy of its own. “What do you mean? What do you mean by ‘feed into me’?” “The necklace is only a tool,” the Oracle warned, her voice grave. “It will help you control the power, but if you rely on it too much, it will start to control you. This is not just a necklace, it is a sentient being that craves power. When you use it, you must not over use it up to the point that it

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Hector's acceptance

Hector's POV I couldn’t stop thinking about what Kayla had said to me at the waterfall. Her words kept echoing in my mind so sharply and so painfully, like a blade that refused to dull. It hurt, and as much as I wanted to push it away, I couldn’t because deep down, I knew she was right. I had royally fucked up. I knew it the moment my lips met hers, even though it wasn’t something I had planned. It had happened in a split second, I glanced down at her and It was like everything inside me had snapped. I had watched her being so vulnerable, her tears soaking into my shirt as she leaned on me. I could feel her brokenness, and for a moment, I thought—maybe this was it. Maybe she finally needed me, maybe she would finally see that I was there for her, that I would always be there unlike Adrian. And then I kissed her. She pulled away in disgust, her face twisted in anger, and I immediately realized I had just done everything wrong. I had taken advantage of a moment when she was

Hector's POVAs much as it stung, as much as it hurt to face the truth, I knew what I had to do. I had to stop fighting Adrian. I had to fix the broken relationship between us, because Kayla clearly loved him, and I loved her. But I couldn’t keep pretending that there was a chance for us when I knew she would never choose me. But the best I could do was to stop causing her pain. I wasn’t going to stand in the way of her happiness. I would stand by her, even if it meant watching her choose Adrian over me. I would help them too, because that’s what mattered now. I had no idea what the future held, but I knew I couldn’t keep living in the shadow of my father’s legacy or my jealousy. I had to be better, for myself and for the Southern Pack. Maybe, just maybe, this was the beginning of something better. -- As the journey back to the Southern Pack started, I couldn’t shake the unease in my chest. Kayla’s mind was elsewhere, focused solely on getting back to Adrian. I couldn’t b

Dr. Marcus paced at the foot of the bed with his arms folded. I caught him whispering to his nurse, then he cleared his throat and met my eyes. “Luna,” he says gently, “we’ve run every test we can on the Alpha. His body just doesn’t have the reserves to fight this poison. Normally a healthy Alpha would burn it out on his own, but right now… we need something else.” I shake my head, my hair falling into my eyes. “There must be something. • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance     Kayla defends Adrian

Kayla's POV The night passes in a fevered haze. I drift in and out of sleep beside Adrian’s bed, listening to each steady breath. By the third watch, I’m so exhausted I’m not sure what’s dream and what’s waking life. But then I smell it—smoke, simmering wood. My eyes snap open. My heart hammers in my ears. Adrian is quiet, as if he’s sleeping peacefully, unaware of the danger. I slip quietly from the sheets and pad across the cold floor to the window. Outside, the palace gardens are shrouded in moonlight and shadow. Movement—too many shapes. Rogues. My chest twists in fear. They’re back. Their abnormal forms slinking between hedges, circling the building. They’ve come for Adrian. For me. For both of us. Despite every aching muscle, despite the fog in my mind, I know I can’t just sit here. I have to protect him. I pull the necklace from beneath my tunic and wrap it around my neck, feeling the surge of power it brings. A low hum fills my ears, and the runes glimmer brighter. Th

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Reuniting with Adrian

Kayla's POV I blinked awake to the soft, steady rhythm of Adrian’s breathing, warm and reassuring, and for a moment I couldn’t place where I was. My head felt heavy, weighted by exhaustion and something else that I realized was lingering sorrow, guilt, a dull ache that pulsed beneath my skin. I turned my head slowly, expecting to see a sick looking Adrian, but instead I found myself staring at the familiar lines of Adrian’s very healthy looking face. His face was even curved in that sleep-soft smile I’d missed more than I could say. My heart jumped so hard it felt like it would burst. He was no longer dying and he was recovering!I dared to hope that it wasn’t some trick of my tired mind. “Adrian?” I whispered, barely louder than my own heartbeat. His eyes fluttered open, and for a moment he looked right through me, as if he was still drifting between dreams and reality. Then his gaze sharpened, taking me in: the pale light dancing on the walls, the frayed edge of the blanket ba

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Kayla's new darkness

Kayla's POV The afternoon light filtered through the curtains in soft beams, and I woke to the muted scent of healing herbs and the low hum of the palace waking around us. Adrian was still asleep, his head turned toward me, chest rising and falling at a peaceful pace. I slipped from the bed, careful not to disturb him. My legs felt shaky, drained from the power I’d poured into him. I rubbed a hand over my eyes and crossed to the window, looking out at the palace gardens. Not far off, I could see the courtyard where I’d fought off the rogues the night before. I swallowed, the memory of that fight still vivid—the screaming, the flashes of energy, the moment I almost let the necklace’s darkness take over. Even now, I could feel its pulse against my throat, as though urging me to use it again. I should have gotten rid of the necklace by now, but something inside me refused to allow me.I kept thinking to myself, what if those deformed rogues came back for Adrian. He was still healing

Kayla's POV I really didn’t know where I was going at first. Not really. My feet just kept moving, dragging me farther away from the palace, from the pack... from Adrian. Every step felt more gut wrenching than the last, like my body wanted to turn back even though my heart refused to. Where do I go? I paused in the shadow of an old bakery, pressing my back to the cold brick wall as I hugged the jacket tighter around me. My breath was beginning to puff visibly in the cold evening air, and the wind cut through my clothes like icy knives.I would go to mountain, I finally decided. It was the only place I knew where I would be accepted by someone.I obviously couldn't go back to Xavier's pack but it was the only other place I knew, so the Oracle's sanctuary was my best vet.Plus If there was any place I could find answers—or strength—it was with her. Maybe I could even finish my training. Maybe I could finally understand why I was… this. Why I couldn’t control my power or trust my

To never let me feel alone again. He spent the night with her.Candice.It took one fight, one misunderstanding, and he ran straight to her. I didn’t even need to ask anyone. The moment Connor hesitantly told me the truth, I saw it. Clear as day. The shattered pieces of my heart lay scattered around the room like the vases I’d broken last night. The bed smelled like him. The sheets, the pillows — all of it haunted me. His scent, his warmth... gone. Just like that.“He was never going to choose you,” the necklace whispered in that low, silky voice that made my skin crawl. “Men like him choose women like Candice. Pretty, obedient. The kind that don’t challenge them.”“Shut up,” I muttered, dragging myself up to the bed to unzip the duffe

Adrian's POV I tried hard to remember last night but my head soon began to hurt from the effort and I still came up blankPanic was quickly beginning to seize me until I suddenly heard Candice's voice. "Relax Alpha," she said from across the room, her legs tucked under her in a chair by the window with a mug in her hand. "You don't need to try hard to remember what happened last night.""Huh?" I asked in confusion.Candice smiled. "I can read your emotions on your face, and what I meant to say was Nothing interesting happened." I blinked blearily at her. "What...?" "You passed out last night after drinking that extra bottle I told you not to drink," she said simply. "I didn’t want the entire palace gossiping about how their great Alpha can’t hold his liquor so I brought you to the guest room in my quarters. I just brought coffee for you this morning." She gestured to the tray on the table. I let out a breath of relief. I didn't betray Kayla because nothing had happened between us

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Adrian revealing his feelings

Adrian’s POVI'm an idiot, I know that. I'm an idiot who's hopelessly in love with a woman but still too scared of his feelings for her. These last few days have really wrecked my mental state and drinking with Candice made me forget my worries for just a few hours. But even that, didn't last long. Because once my eyes landed on Kayla, everything came flooding back. She had made lunch and brought it to me, which meant that she had been thinking of me and probably tried to reach me earlier but I had blocked her.I just wanted time to process thoughts without interruptions or guilt. But that turned out to be impossible because the second I saw the look on Kayla’s face when I refused the food she brought, a bitter knot formed in my stomach. Her smile faltered and was replaced by something smaller, tighter. Hurt. She held the tray down carefully, almost as if she were afraid it would shatter if she moved too quickly. Then she offered to make dinner but I turned it down too and I could

Kayla's POV "It's not any of your concern Kayla. I suggest you drop it... for your own good."What nonsense was he saying. Xavier was my ex husband and very obvious enemy of Adrian. What did he mean it was non of my concern?I was very confused now. Didn't Hector say he had nothing to do with Xavier? Didn't he say he was going to change his relationship with Adrian for the better? What was he hiding now? I pressed on. “You know meeting with him, especially after everything that happened, is only going to make things worse with Adrian. Do you really want to make things more complicated?” He turned his head toward me, his expression hardening slightly. “I don’t care anymore what Adrian thinks. He’s never cared about what I’ve done, and he never will. Besides, I don’t see the problem with talking to someone who actually listens to me.” I felt my heart twist in my chest. “I know you’re upset, Hector, but you promised me—even before I stopped Adrian from banishing you—that you’d stop w

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Joining the dark side

Kayla's POV I couldn’t get Xavier’s smug face out of my mind as I stormed down the hall. I needed to get away from him. From all of it. Adrian, Candice, Xavier... everything felt like it was crashing down. But I still had something to do. I walked briskly toward the holding cells, tray of food in my hands, trying to ignore the flutter of doubt and anger in my chest. I had come this far. I wasn’t going to let Xavier’s words, or my own jealousy, ruin everything. When I reached Hector’s cell, I paused for a moment. The guards were standing nearby, looking bored as usual. They didn’t even seem to notice me at first, so I took the chance to slip past them. But then one of them suddenly stepped in my path, a scowl forming on his face. “Where do you think you’re going?” he sneered. I blinked. “Excuse me?” “You can’t bring food to him,” the guard snapped, his tone rude and dismissive. I frowned. “Actually, I can. And I will. I’m Lady Kayla the Alpha’s fiancée, and I’ll bring food to

He didn't even want to talk to me this morning but he was here laughing his ass off and eating with Candice.I forced a smile, but it didn’t reach my eyes. “Of course,” I muttered. “I didn’t mean to interrupt.” Candice beamed at me, clearly in a much better mood than I was. “It’s good to see you again. I’ve really missed you,” she said, taking another bite of her food. I stood there, frozen, trying to ignore the bitterness that crept into my thoughts. Why was she so comfortable here? Why was she eating with him like they did this every day? And why had Adrian invited her to his office when he wouldn't even talk to me?Candice noticed the awkwardness and tried to bridge the tension. "Come sit with us! We have so much to catch up on, but we also have all the time in the world since I'm back living at the palace now!"That made me freeze.“What?” I asked, voice a little higher than I intended.Candice beamed. “Alot happened when you were aw

But I what I want to know is why?” Logan crossed his arms, his whole body tense. “Because I don’t like women who choose power and money over love.” For a second, I just stared at him. That was… personal. Before I could ask more, he shook his head like he regretted saying anything and muttered, “Do what you want, Alpha. Permission to patrol the border sir!" He requested. I waved him off and called for a guard. “Send for Candice. Now.” Logan cursed under his breath but didn’t stop me. Candice arrived not long after, dressed too perfectly for the late hour, her blond hair in place and a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. “You called for me, Alpha?” she said sweetly, walking in with a little too much sway in
