A Bundle of Bad Luck

"Beep, beep"

My alarm sounded disturbing the peace of my morning.

"Urgh" I groaned loudly slightly irritated by the sun ray reaching my eyes through the window blinds.

It was Monday morning and currently a few minutes passed 7 and I had an interview by 10. Although I was a bit tired I was still very much excited for the interview.

So with new found motivation and determination I got out of my bed and moved straight to the bathroom to wash up and get ready for the day. I stripped out the the night wear I had worn to bed the previous night. I moved towards the shower turning it on and silently moaning when the cool running water met my skin. After taking my bath, I stepped out in just my towel.

I reached for my wardrobe picking out a few options of clothing, finding it difficult to decide on what to wear. After a contemplating for a few minutes I finally decided to go with a light blue silk button down top and a pair of office pants. I was really keen on making a good impression for my interview. I bent down to pick a pair of stilettos from my shoe rack and moved towards my bed to out them on. I got up from my bed and progressed towards my dressing table to do my make up.

I sat in front of my dressing desk looking at my reflection in the mirror and instantly got to work on my face.

I applied foundation to my face, did some work on my eyes and lips, added a hint of blush to my cheeks and by the time I was done I looked almost unrecognizable. It was just a light make up but it still helped to heighten my beauty.

Standing in front of my other mirror I gave myself a once over. My face looked perfect, the buttons of my blouse slightly strained against my boobs but not exposed, my suit pant fit perfectly on my body hugging my curves in all the right places. Although it was just office wear I still looked stunning. After taking a few minutes to admire myself some more, I made my way to the kitchen to make myself some breakfast before I leave for my interview.

Making my way to the coffee maker, I begun to brew myself a cup of coffee and progress to my pantry to check if I have any cookies left over and not to my surprise I discover it's empty.

With a sigh I close the pantry and move forward to take some milk from the refrigerator for my coffee only to find out I am also out of milk.

"I really need to go grocery shopping" I say to myself shutting the door to the refrigerator, while doing so I accidentally shut my finger with it.

"Shit" I cursed out slightly in pain.

Sucking on the injured finger the sound of the phone ringing suddenly resonates through the dining room. I moved to pick it without checking the caller ID after all there's only one person who ever calls me.

"Hey Lexi" I greeted through the phone.

"Hey girl what's up?" she asks.

"Lexi, you know what's up. Don't tell me you forgot I have an interview today" I responded moving towards my coffee machine to pour myself a cup.

"Well technically I didn't forget, I mean how could I? What do you take my for Abby" she said her words laced with a bit of disappointment at the fact that I would even suggest she forgetting my big day.

"hahaha" I chuckled. "Alright alright I guess you didn't forget but if I may ask why the phone call so early?" I was curious

"What is it so wrong to call my bestest friend in the world on her very important day?"

"What do you want Lexi?" I asked sipping my coffee. She obviously wanted something Lexi is really easy to read.

"Okay you've got me I do need something" she confessed.

"What is it Lexi?"

"No need to be pushy. Anyways since you asked, I was wondering if my bestest friend in the whole world who is about to be filthy rich since she's going to be working at a big ass company..."

"Interview Lexi" I interrupted

"Yeah yeah whatever, do you think you could buy me lunch from that really good burger place? More preferably a cheeseburger and fries" Lexi stated.

"Lexi?"

"Yes Abby" she responded a bit eager for my response.

"No" I said sternly.

"Come on Abby, please? I'm literally covering up your shift right now you could at least buy me laugh" she begged. I could already imagine the pout forming on her face.

Lexi might be my best friend at this moment but I swear she would be the end of me.

"Ugh fine Lexi" It was impossible to say no to her.

"Yahh, oh and could you also...."

"Bye Lexi " I said hanging up before she made any further demands. Don't get me wrong I love Lexi but that girl could sometimes be my worse nightmare.

Drinking the last of my coffee. I dropped the cup in the sink and looked at my watch to check what the time was. It was already 8:54 and the company was only about 30mins drive from my house so I guess I would get there really early. Making sure my CV and other documents where in my bag, I picked up my phone and car keys and made my way to the front door before my phone dinged in my bad. I stopped in my track to check what it was to see a text from Lexi.

LEXI

"Good luck on your interview bestie. P.s: please grab me a milkshake, thanks. You're the best. Love you"

I smiled shaking my head slightly. I dipped my phone back into my bag and with one final breath I walked out of my building and into my car and made my way to downtown Manhattan.

"I'm so gonna nail this interview"

..........

"Just my freaking luck" I cursed visibly irritated and annoyed.

Remember when I said I was gonna nail the interview? yeah not so sure that's going to happen anymore.

I was stuck at a sidewalk right before central park because my busted up car decided this was the best moment to break down. It was already 9:37 and I was definitely going to be late for my interview and to make things worse, for some unknown reason I couldn't get a single cab around here.

"I am so going to be late". I said a sense of panic sweeping through me. I was so confused and disorganized, I didn't know what to do at this point so I decided to try and fix the car by myself although I have zero knowledge about cars I was desperate.

Popping up the bonnet I open it and instantly steam clouded my vision I guess that means the car was overheating.

"Shit" I had no idea on what to do.

I tried to see if I could check the battery and in doing so I accidentally placed my hand on something else and quickly retracted it but not before it got slightly burnt.

While I kept trying to soothe the burn a delivery bike sped past me and splashed some water on my pants.

"Hey!" I yelled out but it was of no use. the guy was far gone already.

"This is the worst". I said as I made my way to the back seat of my car to grab some tissues yo wipe the dirt water from my shoe. As I was trying to open my bag I noticed the zip was stuck. I kept trying to force it open and when it finally came open that's when I realized what I had just done. The zip has gotten stuck to my documents and when I forced it open I had accidentally torn up a part of my CV

I sat there, shocked and horrified. There was no way in hell I was going to get this job. I was late, my clothing is ruined and now a piece of my CV is torn up.

"Worse day ever" I sighed frustrated.

I got out of the car with the intention of giving up and was about to make my way back home by leg when a black Rolls Royce pulled up beside me. The window at the back seat came down and I was faced with probably the most gorgeous man on earth.

"Not now Abby" I mentally scolded myself.

"Excuse me young lady" came his hoarse yet sexy voice. I lifted my head slightly to look at his face and I was instantly lost. I could see his lips moving, he was saying something to me but I was so far gone. My brain could no longer comprehend his words all I could focus on was his mesmerizing emerald green eyes and perfectly chiseled jawline. I think I was even drooling.

"Uhm hello?" he said waving a hand Infront of me. I didn't even notice when he stepped out of the car.

"Oh uhm sorry where you saying something?" I asked cheekily and slightly embarrassed.

He chuckled. Gawd that laugh.

"well I was asking if you needed any help because it looked like you did". he said gesturing to my car.

"Oh well I kind of needed some help but it's ok I'm fine" I said blatantly lying through my teeth.

"Are you sure about that?" he asked

"Uhm actually no." I confessed

"Do you need a ride?"

"oh I wouldn't want to bother you"

"It's not a bother" he said smiling at me and I was instantly swoon.

He moved towards his car and opened the door to the back seat, gesturing for me to get in. I quickly grabbed my things from my car and made my way to his getting into the back seat and him following suit.

Once we were both seated he shut the door and called to his driver to start the car which he did.

"Where to miss?" his driver asked, referring to where I was headed to.

"Uhm Wright's Multinational Corporation please " I responded to which he nodded and proceeded to start the car and we drove off.

"I'm sorry I haven't introduced myself, my name is Riven".

"I'm Abigail but you can call me Abby" I said with a warm smile.

He smiled back.

"Well Abby it's nice to meet you and that k you for letting me give you a hand"

"Oh please I should be the one thanking you. You might not know this but you literally just saved my ass." I said and he laughed.

"Well then the pleasure is all mine. I've already texted my mechanic to get your car fixed"

"You didn't need to do that"

"It's no big deal" he said waving off my protest.

"Well thank you so much"

"It's no problem but I would need your address so I could tell my mechanic where to drop your car" he said stretching a paper and note pad towards me. I took it and wrote down my address and gave it back to him.

"Alright then"

I was about to say something when the car came to an abrupt halt. The driver signaled to Riven that we had arrived at my destination.

"Well I guess this is where we part ways" Riven said looking at me longingly almost like he didn't want me to leave.

"I guess it is. Thank you so much for your help MR. Riven"

"Please just Riven is fine" he corrected

"Alright.....Riven" he smiled at this.

I opened the door and stepped out of the car. As I was about to take a step towards the building Riven called out to me. I turned back to see him stretching a card towards me.

"Here it's my business card. You can call me whenever you need help"

I took the card from his outstretched hand. "Thank you Riven"

"I'll see you some other time?"

"Sure"

He nodded and made his way back to his car before driving off. I turned back to face the building before me. Looking at my watch it was already 10:30, I was 30 minutes late for my interview. I sighed.

"Well here goes nothing" I said before ascending the small fleet of stairs before me only for the heel of my stilettos to break off just as I was about to enter the building.

"Just my luck"
