ZANDER

A young woman walked in like she owned the place.

She looked about the same age as Vivian. Long, dark hair. Confident steps. She didn’t pause or look around nervously.

Instead, she shut the door gently behind her, removed her heels, and began walking further into the penthouse like she owned the place or belonged there.

Derek leaned closer to me and whispered, “Who the hell is that? And how the fuck did she get the passcode to Caroline’s place?”

Before I could answer, Lucas reached out and lightly slapped Derek’s arm.

“Shhh,” he whispered sharply. “Let’s watch and see what she’s up to before jumping to conclusions.”

I didn’t reply. I was too busy staring at the lady.

She moved with calm confidence, her eyes scanning the apartment briefly.

Then, without hesitation, she walked straight toward the hallway that led to the bedrooms—the exact direction where we were hiding.

My chest tightened.

I didn’t like this. Something felt… wrong.

Caroline was extremely private. She had always b

VIVIAN After I asked Priestess Tanya how her grandmother came into possession of the grimoire, she glanced at me and shrugged as she flipped another page.“I was sixteen when my grandmother passed away. She gave it to me on her deathbed and told me to protect it. She also told me to check it only when necessary. And most of all she told me never to let anyone know I had a grimoire.” She told me.I nodded slowly because her grandmother's words made sense. The book didn’t feel ordinary. It felt like it had power. Real power. I could feel it just by standing close to it.Tanya suddenly stopped turning the pages. Her finger landed on a page with a faded drawing of a circle surrounded by odd symbols and words in Latin.I wondered how she could read it.“Here,” she whispered. “This is it. A truth spell. It can reveal someone’s intentions, but only if the person is willing to be in the circle while the spell is cast.”“So… if Isla agrees to stand in the circle while the spell is done,” I sa

VIVIAN “I’m not sure if it’s going to work,” I said slowly, biting my lower lip as I looked at her. “It’s just a plan… and I don’t even know if it’s a good one. The possibility of the plan even working is your response.” Priestess Tanya turned to look at me, confusion written all over her face. “What plan, Vivian? Just say what’s on your mind. You’re scaring me with all this suspense.” I hesitated for a moment, trying to find the right words. I didn’t want her to think I was crazy. Ever since Selene unlocked my powers, I had been getting these strange thoughts. Ideas that came into my mind out of nowhere but when I needed them the most. It was always like a soft voice whispering inside my head, feeding me ideas at just the right moment but it wasn’t my wolf. It wasn’t loud or forceful like my wolf always sounded, but calm… and it always made sense. I finally sighed and looked her in the eyes. “Do you remember how I insisted Isla should stay for lunch?” Priestess Tanya b

VIVIAN When we turned to see who had the nerve to enter Zander’s room without knocking, my heart skipped, unsure of who it could be.But the moment the door opened, a familiar voice filled the space. Caroline’s voice. She walked in with Lucas and Derek following right behind her. It felt so good to see them all again. It felt so good to be alive again. The next thing I knew, Lucas and Derek rushed at me, practically throwing themselves onto me with excitement. “You’re awake!” Lucas shouted.Lucas wasn’t the chatty type so imagine my surprise when I saw him in that mood. Also, it meant a lot to me. It showed me that they really cared about me.“Thank the moon goddess!” Derek added, wrapping his arms around me.I missed Derek and his jokes. He mostly made jokes at the wrong time and that was what amused me about him. And to think he was a Gamma? He never behaved like he was at all.I couldn’t help but chuckle as they hugged me tightly. Their energy was overwhelming but in a good way.M

VIVIAN I stood quietly, watching Isla as she stood with her arms crossed on her chest and her expression unreadable. My thoughts were spinning in a hundred directions, and honestly, I didn’t know what to believe anymore. But one thing was for sure. She saved me.There was no denying that. If she hadn’t shown up, I might not be here right now. But just because someone helps you once doesn’t mean you can trust them forever, right? That was the thought that kept circling in my mind.I couldn’t tell what was real and what wasn’t anymore. My body was still weak, and my thoughts were still a bit fuzzy.I didn't know if it was the effect of whatever that thing was that Isla’s mom began rubbing on my tummy.I just hoped that it wouldn't have an effect on my child growing in my womb. I had so much wanted a baby. I didn't know what I’d do if I lost the child.I wanted to believe Isla was telling the truth. I wanted to believe that maybe fate had brought us together for a reason because it fel

VIVIAN “Vivian…” Isla whispered. “I’m happy you’re back alive.” I blinked slowly, my eyelids heavy, like they had been weighed down by years of sleep but I still wanted to save Isla. Before I could say anything, Isla’s voice came again, even softer this time. “Now let me die.” Her words froze me in place. What? Let her die? No. No way. She couldn’t just say something like that and expect me to agree. Especially not now. Not after everything. Also, she could be an added advantage to us because she worked with the Circle. With Isla on our side, we could know who the leader of the circle was. We could even know where their organization building was. Also, she was a witch like me. I couldn't just sit and watch her die. I struggled to sit up, my body was aching in strange places but my magic was still swirling inside me like it had been stirred by a storm. I turned my head to look at her and Isla’s eyes were filled with tears, but she had a small smile on her face, like

VIVIANEverything around me was cold and dark.I didn’t know where I was. I could barely feel my own body. I tried to move, but I couldn’t. It felt like the darkness had wrapped itself around me, swallowing me whole. The last thing I remembered was trying to undo the spell from Caroline and then I passed out.I opened my mouth and screamed, “Zander!”But my voice just echoed back at me. A hollow, empty sound.“Priestess Tanya! Lucas! Derek!” I shouted again, louder this time.Still, all I heard was my own voice bouncing back at me. It made the loneliness worse. I felt like I was trapped in a void where nothing existed but fear and pain. Then I realized something.I wasn’t standing. I was… sitting. No, not sitting. I was crouched. Inside something.I reached out and touched what felt like thick, cold iron bars.A cage.I was in a cage. I gasped.Terror gripped my heart. My breathing got faster. My body was shaking. I didn’t know how I got here, or who had put me here, or why… but I kne
