Ava had managed to get back downstairs all without loosing it. She hadn't even finished processing that Brandon had been cheating on her but now with Mia, her best friend.
Ava first met Mia when they both in elementary school. They were maybe 6 or 7 but they clicked immediately. Ava didn't just see Mia as her best friend, she had been her support system over the years, a friend who was more than a sister. Ava would've died just for the sake of Mia. It was that kind of friendship. To see Mia trash talking her while sleeping with her husband was a far more heartbreak than knowing Brandon was unfaithful. With her hands covering her mouth, all Ava could do in that moment was sob uncontrollably. It hurt to know that the two people, whom she had her faith in betrayed her even without batting their lashes. How had she gotten to this point? What really went wrong? Brandon's case was something else altogether. Not once in the nine years that they had been married had Ava looked back on what she had given up just so she could be with Brandon. Against the advice of every member of her family, Ava had chosen to follow her heart and married Brandon. Even while she was being disowned by her family, her heart never wavered. Those nine years had been her pride because Brandon had been a good husband,a friend and a good father. They were happy. Atleast she thought that they all were. "Oh God..." Ava sighed softly but the more she tries to get a hold of herself, she more he completely broke down. Just in under a space of two minutes, her entire world came crumbling down on her. Seated there with her emotions all over the place, Ava started weighing all her options. Leaving and acting like it didn't happen or go back to her bedroom and confront them head on. Should she just pack her bags and leave? Distraught, she got up and rushed to the kitchen sink and gagged. She felt like she was going to throw up. First it had been the hurt, followed by disgust and now she was just starting to get angry. Looking at the set of knives, Ava reached out and pulled out one and for a moment, her eyes seemed distant. Dangerously so. Her mind seemed to be in a daze at the different scenarios playing up there. The hurt she was feeling at the moment was something that could only pacified if she saw both Brandon and Mia hurting. Ava had really thought about it. She had thought about going up them and stabbing them over and over until all that remained was their lifeless bodies. She wanted to make sure they'd hurt even if it was just half of what she was feeling but thinking about Jesse and Javier held her back. She still had her children to think about, not just a marriage and friendship that was collapsing. Instead of walking upstairs, Ava opened her fridge and pulled out the vegetables from there. Doing this was the only thing distracting her from working her dark desires. "Brad stop it...okay stop. We have to get back to work." An hour later, Brandon and Mia came downstairs, all laughter and giggles. "You know, we still have like twenty more minutes. We could.." Brandon said as he pulled Mia around and wrapped his arms around her. He leaned in for a kiss, one that Mia was all too happy to return. When Brandon's hands went under Mia's shirt in an attempt to unhook her bra, Mia pulled away from the kiss and looked to her side while smiling. Mia and was facing the open kitchen and once she saw Ava looking right at them, Mia screamed in terror. Brandon quickly pulled away from her and carefully studied her stunned face. "What? You look as if you've seen a --" "A ghost?" Ava suddenly asked, announcing her presence. Her eyes were on Mia the entire time until Brandon looked at her and she smiled. " I'm just finished making lunch, let's eat" Ava suggested before she moved to the sink to wash her hands. "I should go--" Mia said softly to Brandon but Ava heard her. Quite clearly. "Where Mia? Back to my bedroom? To sleep with my husband?" Ava asked, very calmly, too calmly. "You backstabbing bitch" Ava added before she started laughing. "Ava" Brandon's firm voice caught her off guard. She turned to her husband and frowned. "Brandon" Ava sarcastically replied then shook her head. "With my best friend? That's beneath you Brandon" Ava's eyes, which were always filled with so much love for Brandon now only held disgust. " How could you Brandon? After everything that we've been through. How dare you?" Ava asked as she approached her husband. This time, she couldn't help the tears that trickled down her cheeks. "Both of you disgust me. You cheating pieces of shit. I can't-" Ava stopped dead in her tracks when she felt something hot against her cheek. It took a moment to realize that it was a resounding slap. It was so sudden, so hard that she felt a tingling sound coming out of her ear. She placed her hand on her cheek and looked up to find Mia standing before her looking vicious at her. One would think that Ava was the one that had done something wrong? "Disgust you? Is that what you call what you did to me Ava? Brandon should've been mine to begin with. MINE" Mia screamed at Ava who was still dumbfounded. Ava's eyes averted back to her husband's hoping that atleast he would explain but his eyes were on Mia's face. While she looked at Brandon, Brandon had his full attention on his mistress. "W... What?" Ava finally found her voice and asked. "You took Brandon away from me Ava. For years,i had to watch you have what was supposed to be mine. Brandon, this house. I should've been the mother of his child. Not you!" Mia added and this time, Ava lifted her hand to strike Mia. Not because of sleeping with her husband but because of what she was telling him. Ava didn't get to hit Mia though because Brandon stepped infront of Mia as a shield and held her hand to stop her. "B-Brad?" Ava called out softly, her brows furrowed in confusion but more importantly was the hurt in her eyes. Brandon shoving her back almost had Ava stumbling back but good thing she held onto the kitchen counter for support. "Calm down, woman!" Brandon's voice, firm and resilient made Ava stop for a moment. "Woman?" Ava echoed Brandon, shocked at how he referred her as. He hadn't even used her name in 9 years now and he called her woman? Just woman? "Brandon you're sleeping with my best friend!!" Ava screamed at her husband, unable to take on the humiliation any longer. "What is wrong with you?!" Ava asked, desperate for an explanation. For anything really. "My problem is you Ava?!" Brandon responded almost immediately "I fell out of love. The problem is that i feel nothing!!" "Nothing?" Ava asked softly. "Nothing for you"It had been a week since Ava found out about her husband sleeping with her best friend. A week since she had seen Brandon. After that awful fight, Brandon hadn't bothered to come back home and Ava suspected that he was with Mia, after all, he had left, running after Mia after that confrontation.Left to pick up the pieces of her life alone, Ava could hardly keep herself in check. It was so bad that her twin boys started noticing. They were her source of strength, Jesse and Javier but they were a reminder of Brandon. The twins had taken after Brandon with almost everything. Except the blue eyes and perfectly thick brown hair that was Ava's, Ava could confidently say that her children were a hard copy of their father.Ava was currently on the couch, watching Jesse and Javier working on their respective homeworks. Her eyes were on the back of their little heads as she watched them concentrating on their work. She just couldn't understand it. As far as she could tell, Brandon truly loved
Brandon wasn't sure how or when it actually started. As far as he could remember, Ava had been everything to him. When they got married, he was so in love with her,so much that he would've given up the entire world just to be with her. Brandon first met Ava when they were both in college. He had been graduating that very year while Ava was just a freshman. She had been that girl who had everyone's attention the moment she was walked into a room. Long and heavy silky hair, a pair of the most gorgeous ocean blue eyes, a sharp nose and a perfect jawline to compliment her round face. Not only was she pretty but she had a very kind heart. It was very rare, considering the rumors that she came from a really wealthy and prominent family.Brandon didn't care though, the moment he first laid his eyes on Ava, he knew that he had to make her, his. She wasn't easy though, Brandon had made quite the effort before Ava finally agreed to go out for coffee with him. Brandon truly believed that Ava wa
Mia stirred in her sleep slightly before she slowly opened her eyes. When the door bell sound grew urgent, she rubbed her eyes slowly and pushed the cover off of her body. She climbed down the king sized bed, grabbing the silk robe from the edge of the bed and put it on. When she got to the door, she checked the peephole and when she saw Brandon standing outside, she quickly opened the door and let him in. " Brady. Why are you back? I thought you went home-" she asked as soon as he walked in and she locked the door behind him. Brandon didn't say a word. He went straight to the little bar by the staircase and poured himself a drink. "Brandon?" Mia called him again, this time, more worried because of how Brandon looked. When he went to pour another drink, Mia grabbed the bottle and placed it down. " Can you talk to me first? What's going on?" Mia asked once again then reached out to gently touch Brandon's arm. "Ava agreed to divorce me-" he started to say and Mia broke into a
Brandon's expression was pure shock at what Mia was suggesting. He wanted the money just as bad but killing Ava? "What did you just say?" Brandon asked, this time, pulling himself away from Mia. "Do you even know what you're saying to me right now?" he pressed on in disbelief."Brandon, baby, calm down okay? Just listen to me first" Mia urged as she gestured for her brother to excuse them. She remained quiet until she saw Fred leave and the close the door behind him."She's the mother of my children Mia. You just can't suggest things like this" he warned her and Mia sighed. "Fine. We let things remain like this and Ava gets everything. She's not going to give you a dime? Who knows when you'll get to see your sons again. Is that what you want Brandon? Is it?" Mia asked and Brandon just looked at her. He seemed to be contemplating what she had just said." If she dies, nobody will know anything. As her spouse, naturally, everything would go to you. We can't let Ava issue the divorce. N
"Call Freddie" Mia muttered softly as she pulled up to the highway. Her small hands tightened around the steering wheel as she listened to the line ringing. From how rigid her facial expression was, it was quite clear that she was irritated."Hello?" she heard the masculine voice said from the other end of the line. "Mia?" Fred called out again after a moment, this time, managing to get Mia's attention."I'm here, Freddie" Mia replied softly."How did it go with Brandon?" Fred asked and Mia only groaned softly. " Bad. Really bad. He didn't buy into it" Mia said in frustration. She bit down her bottom lip then scoffed softly. "He's a fool to think Ava's going to give him anything on a silver platter but we need him. I just need to figure out an alternative incase he bails" she said while she shifted her attention from the road to look at her phone for a moment."Well, think of something soon. We can't loose this opportunity. Not after how much we've invested into getting those propert
Ava didn't buy that Brandon wasn't aware that Mia had taken the twins. She unbuckled her seatbelt and climbed out of her car to catch some air before she pressed the phone back against her ear."Is it because of the money? Brandon, those are your children!" She hissed into the phone, already repulsed by the idea of Brandon being in cahoots with Mia to harm her children."Ava..." Brandon called her name in warning. His tone was serious but Ava couldn't care less. Her children's whereabouts were at stake and who knew really what Mia was doing to them. Had it been before, Ava wouldn't have been worried at all but after the betrayal, Ava wasn't sure anymore."If you and your mistress don't provide my sons, i will have the authorities on the both of you even before you can say divorce. Call her, talk to her, i don't fvcking care. By the time i get to Mia's house, i want to find my children, without so much as strand of hair missing on their heads" Ava demanded and she heard Brandon sigh in
"I'm pregnant" Ava had heard Mia the first time, it only took the second to fully process what Mia was telling her. Her body tensed as she swallowed dryly. She knew she'd have to accept that Brandon had finally moved on but she didn't think it would be this soon.Turning around, Ava looked down at Mia's stomach before she smiled. "Well congratulations Mia but i don't see how this has anything to do with me" Ava stated softly and Mia scoffed."No? My baby's going to be your children's siblings. Do you think i'll have twins too?" Mia asked and Ava's smile dropped. Mia had changed so much, she had become such a bitter, vindictive and a calculative person."What's the point in all of this, really? I just don't get it" Ava asked softly.Mia sighed softly and looked at Brandon who's jaw was dropped, probably from the revelation. "The baby changes everything, right? Ava, we've been friends for years, are you seriously going to take everything from Brandon? How are we supposed to take care of
Brandon took his time feeling Mia up. One of his hand was caressing her soft breasts, while the other slid all the way to her ass and he gripped a handful. A deep groan escaped his lips, vibrating through her skin. Mia's soft moans only made him want to fuck her even more. Reluctantly, Brandon pulled back from Mia's neck, his hand coming from under her shirt to slowly unbuttoned the shirt she was wearing. His eyes were fixed on Mia's beautiful face. Her lips were slightly parted, breaths coming out fast and hitched. Brandon couldn't help himself as he leaned back in and kissed her bottom lip. Once he had pulled her shirt open, he leaned in and took in one of her nipples in his mouth. The hard bud melted against his warm mouth, the tip of his tongue rubbed at it before he pressed his face against her soft breasts. Mia's hands slid into his hair and she held him there in place. Her moans had only gotten louder and she seemed to be enjoying the attention she was getting from Brandon.
Rooftop. Ava looked at William as soon as the door opened and before her eyes was the most beautiful scene she had seen in a long time. She took slow steps into the space and looked at William. "When did you have time to do this? I was with you the whole time!" She asked, surprised as she looked at the setting. It wasn't anything extravagant, just some blankets, candles to light up the place and some beers."I know i'm sad and all but i'm not planning on jumping," she teased as she walked to the edge and just looked at the beautiful city lights. The scene was peaceful and that was something she really needed. "Beer?" William asked softly, his deep voice pulling Ava from whatever trance she was in."God. Yes please," Ava replied with a small smile. William grabbed two beers from the basket and walked over to where Ava stood. He opened one and handed it to her. "There you go-" he uttered and when she grabbed it, he opened his own."Thank you.." Ava mumbled quietly. "For what?" Willia
"You"Ava didn't expect to see William standing before her. Not here at least. She watched as his mouth, his perfect mouth curved into a smile. "Are you alright?" He asked and Ava only shook her head. "Are you sure? You're not hurt?" He asked again and Ava confirmed."But you might be-" Ava said, hinting at his back. William only shrugged and tilted his head to look at her. "Why is it that i only meet you when you're in some kind of trouble?" He asked and Ava found herself smiling when she realized he was just teasing her. "I don't know. Maybe because i have my own guardian angel, ready to help. Or is it a knight in shining armour?" She asked while her eyes danced with mischief."Well, let me show you what a true knight can do," he said and winked at her. Ava's breath got caught in the back of her throat. As quick as William's smile appeared, it disappeared just as quickly as he turned to the direction the glass came from. "I did not bring my date here for her to get escorted by th
Ava noticed the jacket on her passenger seat after she had parked her car. It was just as she had placed it and she sighed softly. How could she not have noticed and returned it to the owner. As much as she wanted to go to the party, she contemplated going back to return it. Then again, going back didn't guarantee he would still be there waiting. She sighed again and laid her head back against the headrest of her car seat. When her phone started buzzing, she moved the jacket a bit so she could grab her purse. It was Laura. Ava tilted the rearview mirror just to make sure she looked decent enough before she got out of the car. She locked it behind her and answered Laura's call. "I'm here. I just parked my car," Ava said first thing because she knew why Laura had called. "Good. Brandon and that backstabbing bitch are already here," Laura whispered frustratedly into the call. Ava hummed into the phone, hung up and made her way into the hotel. She had an invitation, the one that origin

She had arrived earlier than Ava but now that she was there, she couldn't wait to leave. "Grace us with their presence? How pathetic-" she muttered softly. Some of the people gathered around her, turned to look at her. She rolled her eyes.Ava laughed from the other side of the line. At Ava's laugh, Laura smiled. It was the first time she had heard Ava laugh heartily."How long till you get here? I'm bored," Laura whined
A week had gone by since Ava had returned. She had gone back to her family, the last people she thought would take her back after her defiance. Nobody had said anything though and Ava felt as if that was punishment enough. With Laura and Anthony's help, she was able to piece the bits she couldn't understand. As soon as she was able to, the first thing she wanted was to have the police go after Brandon and Mia. She wanted them to pay but deep down, she knew she didn't have enough to have them permanently locked up. Besides, Brandon held her company in the palm of his hands. Provoking him, might only flash the little of her business that was left down the drain. It needed patience. She needed to be patient if she wanted to make them both pay.Ava was currently out on the parlour of the Smithโs family residence when her phone rang. She didn't need to wonder who it was. Only Laura and Anthony had been calling him frequently. โHello?โ Ava said as soon as she answered the phone.โAva, are
โHow long have those bastards been keeping her in this state?โ A woman's voice demanded while she looked at Ava's sleeping form. The doctor, now learning of Ava's true medical condition, just shook his head. โA man, Clinton Andrews, brought her here unconscious yesterday. She said she doesn't know him. Do you?โ The doctor asked and the woman shook her head in denial.โIt doesn't matter. The police have him on footage. It's only a matter of time before they catch him. For now, just put in your best effort to make sure Ava's alright. Once she's up, iโd like to have her tested so i can transfer her to another hospital in the cityโ The woman demanded. She allowed the doctor to excuse himself before she walked over to Ava and brushed her hair back. โYou poor thing. How you must've suffered-โ she whispered softly. When she heard her phone buzz from her purse, she pulled away from Ava and walked to the couch to grab it.She walked to the large hospital window and answered it. โLaura. Is
Clinton had been by Ava's side the whole night. She hadn't recovered consciousness but he was quite relieved that her breathing had gone back to normal. With the risk of so much exposure, he knew what he had to do to ensure Ava's safety. He was surprised nobody in the hospital recognized Ava to begin with.โNoโ Ava mumbled in her sleep, her eyebrows knitted together as if she was going through something unpleasant.โNo. Pleaseโฆslow downโ she continued and Clinton jumped from his seat. He knew what she meant. She had been begging him to slow down just before she fell in the water.โAva, it's okay. You're safe nowโ he whispered softly only, her condition was only getting worse. The IV machine started going crazy and just a few moments later, the nurses rushed in. Clinton was still holding onto Ava's hand when her eyes snapped open and she gasped for air.โAva? Are you alright? You can breathe now, it's alright-โ the nurse said, as she tried to soothe Ava from the attack she was having.
โHelp! Someone help me!โ Clinton rushed into the hospital with an unconscious Ava in his arms. They were both soaked. Clinton yelled at the nurses at the counter who came rushing over as soon as they saw how pale Ava was.โWhat happened sir?โ One of the nurses asked as she helped put Ava on the stretcher. She was cold, almost lifeless.โWe were on the boat heading home. I only looked ahead for a second then when i looked back, she was gone. I didn't know where she had fallen so it took me a while to find her-โ Clinton explained as he watched Ava, lifeless form. He was cold himself but right at that moment, he couldn't see anything past how miserable Ava looked.โHow long ago was this? How long ago did you find her?โ The nurse asked again as they pushed the stroller to the ER. โ20? 30 minutes. It could've been 40. I'm not sure. I tried CPR as soon as i got her back on the boat but no responseโ Clinton continued on as he helped hurry the stretcher. โAlright. We'll see what we can do.
Brandon walked into their bedroom to find Mia standing by the window. He didn't need to look to know what she was looking at so he matched there and shut the blinds.โI bet that old hag is talking about us to those copsโ she said as soon as she noticed Brandon was in the room.โWho, Mrs Sanders? How could you not like her? She's the sweetestโ Brandon said. Mrs Sanders, after all, helped Ava look after the kids when they had errands to run.โSweet? Whateverโ Mia said with a roll of her eyes. โSo, what did they want?โBrandon looked at Mia โHaven't you seen the news lately? They're here to look for Avaโโ Brandon snapped at her.โDon't get snappy with me. Is it my fault she's missing? You're the one who sent her away, remember?โ Mia said, reminding Brandon. She had been looking through her dresses, getting herself ready to go out.โDon't get smart with me Mia. Aren't you a little bit worried that they came looking for her, here?โ Brandon asked and Mia stopped moving. โNo, why?โ โHer fa
