I jolted up from my sleep just like I have been doing for almost a year now. It all started in the first week of April. I wasn't sure what it meant just yet, but my dreams were always filled with nightmares of a girl who's face I could not see clearly being killed over and over again. The dreams kept me up most hours of the night, almost like someone was trying to pass me a message but this time around, it felt worse. I could feel every pain and every anger. At first, I thought it could be my mate, but it made no sense as I was already destined never to have one. Plus, even werewolves who have found their mates could not feel their pain this much let alone, I who have never seen her before. I asked Valerie, my packs witch about it and she said all she knew is it was related to the prophecy but even with all of her powers, she also couldn't find this girl. I could feel the sweat dripping from my face because of the nightmare I just woke up from. Looking outside the window, I noticed the full moon was still high. I decided to let lose and go into the woods for a bit. Coming back at the crack of dawn, I went straight to the shower, letting the cold water wash away all of the dirt. With my eyes closed, I could see her again. Her face was not clear but her pain was hard to ignore. She looked so desperate as she looked back at me. I opened my eyes, letting the water find it's way down my face. “Who are you”? I thought to myself as I still couldn't understand how someone I don't know could have such a hold on me and even disturb my sleep. After my shower, I went to my study as I had a lot to do and I knew going back to sleep would only leave me with more things to worry about. I was going through some pack documents when I heard a knock on my door and after a while, Simon, my beta walked in. “You don't look so good”. He said and I cleared my throat a bit before resting my back on the chair. “I don't know what you're talking about”. I said, looking at him like he was assuming things even though I knew he was right. “Still having those nightmares”? Simon asked and I sighed, finally letting my guard down. Simon is not just my beta, he's also my younger brother and we have been close since he was born so it was pretty difficult to keep anything from each other. “It keeps getting worse, and it never stops. If I'm not having new nightmares, I'm reliving old ones and I still can't see her face”. I said as I stood up and walked towards my window with my hands in my pocket. I hate the feeling I was having. The feeling of helplessness and desperation to meet someone I wasn't sure even exists. “Which is why we must go for that ball and you must mark someone as your mate. It might help you get rid of all this”. I suddenly heard Simon speak, causing me to turn to him with a brow raised. I've been trying so hard to avoid this union Ball even though I knew it was almost impossible at this point. “How is that going to help me”? I asked as that didn't sound like a solution at all. I watched him walk towards me and we both turned to the window, looking at the beautiful serenity of the pack. We stayed silent for a while before he spoke again. “Valerie said you were linked to this mysterious girl's soul and that's why you can see her pain”. He said and I just kept looking outside as was he, but he knew I was listening. “If you mark someone and declare her your mate, your souls will be tied and that way, you could get rid of this nightmares. I mean, it'll be crazy to have two souls tied to one”. He said and even though what he was saying kind of made sense, I still didn't want to get a mate for just this reason. Being mated with someone means my soul would be tied with hers. Since I'm already damned to never have a mate, I'd rather not get any, and just get a breeder to give me an heir. Simon turned to me and placed one of his hands on my shoulder. “You still have two days to the ball, take your time and make a decision”. He said before he walked out, leaving just me in the study. My mind was in so many places but in all those places, the only common factor was this girl who's face I do not know. I soon got very preoccupied with work and for hours, no one dared disturb me as I was very focused and I hated distractions. The work helped me get my mind off of her for a while and even though I could not deny that she was very much still on my mind, I was able to push her to the back of my mind a bit. Later in the evening, Valerie came over. I had called her earlier and told her to come so when she did, it wasn't unexpected. Leaving my desk, I joined her on the couch as I knew if anyone could explain, it would be her. “I had another nightmare, but this time around, it wasn't like the others. I could feel her pain. Every time she was hit, every time she died and came back, every pain that was inflicted on her, I could feel everything but I still couldn't see her”. I said, leaving not a single detail out. I needed a solution, I needed a vivid explanation. She looked like she was lost in thought so I decided to ask. “Could… could it be that the moon goddess has decided to give me a mate”? I asked but I saw her shake her head. Of course, what was I expecting? For a lycan born with the blood of a demon, I was expecting way too much. “I don't know what this is. I don't know if the moon goddess has decided to bless you with a chance or not, but I think we need to find her… fast”. She said, looking a lot more serious than I had expected. “If she turns out to be a mate who is not even supposed to exist, then this might be the only chance you'll ever get. We need to find her before those people actually end up killing her”.Haven barely slept.Every time she closed her eyes, she saw Raven’s smirk. She was constantly revisited with moments of torture and painShe had left the pack, but she was still faced with the same heavy aches in her chest, squeezing her lungs. But now there was something else, something new… determination. She sat on the bed with her knees pulled to her chest, staring at the window as the sky slowly shifted from deep blue to shades of pale gray. It was slowly dawn. Her heart pounded.Six a.m.This wasn’t just training. This wasn’t her trying to be strong because she wanted to be impressive or because she wanted to challenge anyone. This was survival.Because if Raven came here… no, when Raven came here, Haven knew exactly what would happen. Her sister wasn’t going to let her live in peace. She never had.Haven inhaled deeply, pressed her palms to the bed, and stood. She had to be ready.Valerie decided they would train in the fields instead of indoors. The training fields were enor
Haven's eyes opened wide like they were going to fall off. She didn't want to believe it, she didn't want to jump into conclusions but her curiosity got the best of her. “Your mate… is Raven”?She asked and he placed his hand in his pocket as he sucked in a bit of air. “That's her name huh”?He asked and Haven's heart began beating heavily. “Just out of curiosity, do you two not get along"?Haven stayed silent for a while. How was she going to answer that question without annoying him?She was very sure he was going to bring her to this pack. There was absolutely no man Raven had attracted that didn't do their best to get her and seeing he was already attracted to her through the mate bond, she was sure he was going to bring her. If she was honest with him, she could end up suffering later. They could take turns to hurt her and she didn't want that. With a very fake smile, she shook her head. “We had a normal sibling relationship”.She said and he smiled as he nodded. “That's
The dinning table was a pretty big and long one so Haven waited for him to sit down before getting a sit for herself. She went and sat on the chair at the extreme end of the table, creating a generous amount of distance between them. He looked at her with his brows creased before he asked. “Why are you sitting so far away”?She blinked countless times. It was already enough that he allowed her sit with him on the table she couldn't have asked for more. Without asking any further, he stood up from his chair and for a split second, Haven though he had gotten angry. But to her surprise, he moved closer and sat next to her. Haven's eyes opened wide. It was common sense that the head of the household was to sit on the head chair and this was no ordinary head, he was the supreme alpha. Without thinking twice, she immediately stood up and moved away from the chair. “Forgive my ignorance, please… sit”.She said, causing him to look at the chair before looking back at her. “You don't h
Valerie opened the door and walked in. She flashed Simon a faint smile but he raised a brow and shook his head. Simon already knew Valerie was a seductress, getting any man she wants but he wasn't interested in her especially since she was working directly with his older brother. “Your mate seems to have mistaken my intentions, she thought we have some sort of intimate relationship”.Urian looked at her with his brow raised in caution. “What are you talking about? Has she met you before”?He asked but Valarie shook her head as she dragged her finger on the couch gently, reaching Simon, she dragged her finger around his shoulder, causing him to shudder a bit but he didn't move. Valerie smiled seeing she had some sort of effect on him. “She saw me hugging you outside your room”.Simon immediately raised his head to his brother before he turned to look at Valerie. “You were hugging”?He asked, giving a face of complete disbelief. “She was only congratulating for finding her. I di
Third person POV.Haven stood stiff on the spot as she kept looking at the beautiful woman who looked like she had just fallen from the sky. The lady had leather pants and a crop top on which showed just how curvy she was. She was the type who had the face and the body. She slowly moved back into the room, her heart pounding as she leaned against the door, hoping they didn't see her. She didn't know anyone here yet, and even though the scars weren't so deep anymore, she was still in pain and wasn't fully healed yet, she wasn't ready to be tortured just yet.She decided to take care of herself as she went into the bathroom. The bathrooms vibe was similar to the room as it also had dark walls but unlike the bedroom, every other thing in the bathroom was white. She looked around, wondering what she could use that wouldn't get her into trouble but as she was new to all of this, she decided to just use whatever she needed but use them properly and return them neatly. After having a
Haven's POV I watched as my dad kept tearing me open. I couldn't understand why I wasn't dead yet. The pain was out of this world. I could feel my skin falling off of my body and the plain hate in his eyes made me stop yelling. I was weak, I was tired. I couldn't beg anymore, I couldn't move anymore. I just remained there, looking at him as tears kept pouring out of my eyes. 'why couldn't I hate you all this while? Why… why did I keep giving excuses for your actions'?I thought to myself as I watched the man who saw me as nothing but his regret keep tearing me up. I finally closed my eyes as I could feel death slipping in. By now, it was safe to say I and death had built a very close relationship. Whenever it was close, I could feel it clearly. I heard Raven's voice, I heard her call out dad but that was it. I was gone, letting the darkness swallow me whole. I knew I would come back. Just as I had gotten used to death, I was used to life as well and I could feel her holding my h
