{Third person's pov}

Hazel stared at him in disbelief. Alan held her gaze, his own expression still holding a hint of amusement. He continued to press the ice pack gently against her hand, trying to keep his teasing manner.

"What? You don't like it when I say you did something idiotic?"

"What exactly do you want?" Hazel raised an eyebrow and focused back on the dish she was cooking. Alan watched her for a moment longer before speaking again, his tone still slightly aloof.

"I want to know why you were cooking in the first place. The maids are on leave, aren't they?"

"Yeah, they are... Your mother informed me about it and asked me to cook for everyone." Hazel replied.

Alan paused and his expression changed subtly at her words, his eyes narrowing slightly. "My mother... asked you to cook? Why?"

"Because the maids are on leave, are you deaf?" Hazel rolled her eyes and stirred the food.

Alan scoffed at her eye roll and folded his arms across his chest. He leaned against the counter and observed her work. "No, I'm not deaf. I just don't understand why my mother would put you in charge of cooking for everyone when there's other staff members who could do it."

"How would I know?" Alan sighed and ran a hand through his hair in slight frustration. He was irritated by the fact that his mother had asked Hazel to cook without consulting him first. He glanced over at Hazel, who was still stirring the food "You didn't think to refuse or say no?"

"I enjoy cooking." She whispered, "And I have nothing to do all day, so it's fine."

"You are injured, just turn off the stove and come to the room, we will order something." He suggested.

"No it's almost done, and it's just a minor burn don't worry." She reassured him.

"Are you sure?" he raised an eyebrow and Hazel nodded. With a slight nod he walked upstairs to freshen up.

........

After setting the table Hazel called everyone, as everyone settled down, Alan looked towards his mother, "Mom, Why did you send the maids on leave?"

his mother who was focused on her food looked at her son, "Um... they were sick."

Alan frowned, "All of them?"

His mother smiled and shook her head, like a professional actor, "Oh no, Actually Hazel wanted to cook for all of us. Right Hazel?"

Hazel looked at her in disbelief, his mother was too good at acting, Hazel stayed silent she wanted to have dinner peacefully without any drama.

.........

After cleaning the kitchen Hazel Walked out of the kitchen just to Witness her mother in law standing in front of her, her arms crossed in front of her chest. "What do you think you are?"

Hazel's eyebrows narrowed as she stared at him with confusion lacing her face, "Pardon?"

"You think you can complain about me to my very own son?" Hazel Scoffed at her words, she wasn't Able to understand Alan's mother at all.

"But I never complaint anything to him, he asked me where the maids were and I told him the truth, that you gave them leave." Hazel explained.

"Oh so now you wanna do victim playing?" her mother in law asked, Hazel couldn't believe her. "Why would I?"

"Don't act smart." her mother in law whispered and walked past her, almost bumping in her. Hazel took a deep breath and made her way towards their room.

She opened the door and stared at Alan who was standing in the balcony, She sighed and made her way further inside. She walked inside the wardrobe to change into comfortable clothes.

Alan heard the wardrobe door click, informing him that she was in the room, he sighed and walked inside the bedroom and sat on the couch.

soon she appeared from the wardrobe and sat on the edge of the bed, Alan wasn't paying attention to her. he was busy in his phone. as Hazel looked at him, she settled on the bed and drifted in her dream land.

Alan kept his phone aside and stared at her sleeping peacefully, a unknown smile spread on his face and he closed his eyes too.

He studied her face for a second, like he was grounding himself in her presence, making sure this, she was real.“You just told me you love me…” His thumb brushed slowly along her side, almost absentminded, but his gaze never left hers.“And your first instinct is to walk away?” There was a faint edge of hurt there, but softer, almost teasing underneath it.He leaned in slightly, voice dropping to a murmur.“I’m not done with you yet.” A pause.
