Chapter five

Grace's POV

"What's written in there?" Lisa asked as she stretched out hand for the card as she could not see as she leaned over but I was faster.

I shred the little paper in multiple pieces before she was able to snatch it from me.

"What did you do that for ?! She yelled at me annoyed that she wasn't able to read the cheesy note.

Honestly, it was too silly for me to let her see.

All the anger I have felt for hours was slowly ebbing away.

Who would have thought he was also thoughtful?

"It's not relevant," I replied as I walked into my room with the dress.

"Put it on," Lisa said from behind me as I stood before the mirror and held the dress to my body.

Wordlessly I slip the soft material on.

Despite my doubts about the dress, it fits me perfectly well with no hitch.

How the hell did he know my size?

"Baby, you look fascinating!" Lisa commented as I stood frozen in the front of the mirror.

This is too beautiful.

"Are you sure? I asked, nervously.

This isn't like me, I will spend the rest of night feeling like a Barbie, or a princess out of a fairytale.

"Yeah, you look like you are ready to walk down the aisle." she replied bashfully.

“Huh?

Don't say that!” I shuddered.

Lisa gave me a full makeover and I'm starting to grow impatient with how long it takes to get some makeup on.

My butts and back were beginning to hurt too.

My legs are also stiff from sitting in the same position for an hour.

"Done!" I heard Lisa announce excitedly beside me, making me curious about my look.

Careful I opened my eyes and I was awestruck by my reflection in the mirror.

"I look like a princess going to a royal party" I said quietly, not quite sure how I feel about the look.

It's a little too much and I can't recognise myself.

"Let go, you have fifteen minutes left," Lisa said beside me, worsening my composure.

Lisa decided to be my chauffeur tonight, solely because she doesn't want me to ruin my look.

I really don't care about ruining my dress because I don't give a fuck about it but I don't want to embarrass Mr Hyde at the party.

I walk slowly behind Lisa in my heels and I can already feel blisters forming on my poor feet.

This is going to be a long night.

"Ma'am, please follow me" a young man bowed slightly before me, with a hand gesturing towards a Maybach parked feets away from us.

"who... are you? I became confused.

"I was asked to escort you," he replied in a calm voice.

"Mr Hyde asked me to bring you" he said again answering my silent question.

“Go and enjoy yourself” Lisa gave me a gentle push before I finally moved toward the car.

She blew me a kiss as the car roared to life and drove away from my house.

My nerves weren't doing so good, and my palms grew sweaty as the car drove through the city.

It took us ten minutes to reach our destination. From inside the car I could see the elegantly decorated building. Rows of expensive luxury vehicles lined up outside, the way people were dressed made me realize that I wasn't anywhere near extravagantly dressed as I earlier thought I was.

My sweaty palms became clammy as my escort opened the door for me to come out of the car.

I took a deep breath and gathered my dress, with uncertainty written on my face I stepped out of the car and to my horror cameras started flashing at me as reporters took pictures of me.

This is bad!

Bravely I walk down the short red carpet hoping I don't trip on my dress and kiss the floor. That would be the worst way to end everything.

I thought I was supposed to be here as someone representative, not as a princess.

I successfully made it inside without embarrassing myself, eyes turned towards me and curious gazes were thrown at me.

"You need some help young lady?" a sexy voice said behind me. I turned around to see a cute guy with a charming smile looking at me.

He is slightly taller than me thanks to my heels, his eyes the deepest shade of green I have ever seen.

"Hello? He said, waving at me with a one lifted sandy brow.

"Oh, I'm sorry..

"I.. was.. lost in thought" I replied embarrassed for spacing out.

"I haven't seen you before, what is your name?" he asked, smiling cutely.

"Grace" I replied curtly.

"Grace? He asked, giving me a confused look.

"My name is Grace," I replied.

"Oh! I'm sorry for that. I'm Daniel" He replied, flashing me another grin, showcasing a fine set of teeth.

"Well, Grace is dressed gracefully," he said in his sexy voice.

I laughed nervously , drawing a few strange looks toward us.

“I can see you are alone, and I'm also alone. Can we accompany each other?

He asked.

I looked at him nervously and I saw uncertainty in his eyes.

Well, I was supposed to come here with a date. So I see no harm in accepting his invite.

I nodded and he finally smiled again.

Oh the smile.

"Let's sit down," he said, gesturing towards the nearest seat.

"I don't think that will be necessary" a voice said behind me startling me.

Am I hearing things now?

"Mr Hyde!, I never thought I would see you here tonight!" Daniel said beside me.

I turned to face the man that made me dress up like this tonight because he claimed to be out on a business trip.

We stare at each other for a few minutes making the atmosphere awkward.

"Excuse me" Daniel said softly as he noticed the gaze we were giving each and he left us alone.

"I thought you were supposed to be in Utah?" I asked through gritted teeth as he walked closer to me.

"I finished earlier than I expected," he replied in his hoarse voice.

"So are you telling me that I wore this dress and had my foot in a cage just for nothing!?" I ask, feeling annoyed for the trouble I went through to achieve this look.

"You look beautiful dressed like that , you always look beautiful but you look more beautiful tonight" he replied shamelessly rendering me speechless, and I became as red as a tomato.

"If your foot is aching I can give you a massage after the party" he whispered huskily in my ear and he is still able to keep a straight face when I'm crimson red.

The boring party has been going for about three hours and I'm bored out of my mind.

I always thought events like this are always interesting and full of fun but I'm here sitting wanting to go home.

"What are you doing!?" I gasped as I felt a warm hand on my thigh.

"Giving you a mini massage" he replied as his hand pressed slightly against my skin.

Embarrassed, I removed his hand and he gave me a look as if I had grown a horn.

"No, I don't need it," I replied, trying to remove his hand from my lap.

"I promised to give you a massage and I decided to start now" he said smoothly with the slightest change in his expression.

"I thought you said you don't mix work with pleasure" I asked slightly flustered.
