LOGINEMILY'S POV.
I was mad. So mad. But most of all, I was scared. I sat on one of the benches outside the lab, as I waited. They had taken a sample of my urine for analysis, to know whether or not I was pregnant. Pregnant?! How the hell did I even get here? One minute I was praying to be rescued from this marriage with Marco, and the next, I was praying to not be pregnant for a totally different man. Was my life a joke?! "Miss Collombo, your result is ready." I heard someone say above me, and I literally boiled. That damned name had caused me more harm than good. Collombo. I should have left when I could, but I couldn't let my mother rot away in jail. I just couldn't. "What does it say?" I calmly asked the lab scientist who stood beside me. She looked quite unsure, hesitant to tell me. In that moment, I knew I was fucked. "Ma..... you're three weeks pregnant." My entire body went cold for a second, before intense heat invaded me. I couldn't move or do anything else for minutes. At some point, my vision blurred and I thought I was about to collapse. "Miss Collombo?" She called in worry. "Miss Collombo are you....?" "I need to see the Doctor. Now." I managed to say, but it came out as a weak whisper. I tried to stand up from where I sat, but my legs failed me. "Let me help you please." She offered, and I placed my hand in hers. With her aid, I was able to stand to my feet and make my way to the doctor's office. With each step I took, my feet bounced with even more rage. How could this people alter the course of my life due to their own negligence?!! On getting to the doctor's office, I barged in angrily. I was about yelling at the top of my lungs, when I noticed the presence of a familiar person. He had his back turned to me, but I could still tell it was him. It wasn't even as if I normally stared at him long enough, to have memorized what his structure looked like. But I just knew him when I saw him. "That's the lady, Mr Ferrari. She is the one we inseminated." The Doctor pointed towards me. A thousand and one thoughts swirled in my head as Dante turned to look at me. Why was he here? Why was the doctor giving him information about the insemination? Could it be that....? No no no! The moment Dante's eyes locked with mine, they went wide in shock. "What is she doing here?" He turned to Doctor Luigi, who looked every shade of confused. "Y... yo... you know each other?" Doctor Luigi stuttered. "She is the lady we inseminated your sperm into, Sir. Miss Emily Collombo." Inseminated his what...?!! I already had an idea where all these was going, but hearing the doctor confirm it, made my stomach twist in knots. "She is what...?!!" Dante's voice boomed, making me shake in my spot. "This has got to be a joke." I whispered, my legs feeling wobbly again. I located the nearest chair and sat down on it. "And the results of the tests have confirmed that she is pregnant." Doctor Luigi added. Hearing that again, made my entire predicament seem even more real. With all the crazy events of today, It felt like my heart could give up on me, anytime soon. Immediately, the female Doctor who had carried out the procedure on me, came behind me and gently patted my back. "Are you okay?" She muttered into my ear. "Please breathe." Since this torturous episode began, it was the first time anyone cared to check on me. That alone made a huge ocean of tears well up my eyes. Oh God! Why was I always the unfortunate one? Why did my life have to be full of such complexities? For minutes, the office was silent. No one said a word, and I figured they were all thinking of a way to remedy this mess. I decided to think as well. Suddenly, a very reasonable idea came to mind. How about we made the entire situation disappear the very same way it came? This child couldn't remain in my belly for another single day. "I'm getting an abortion." I eventually said, making all eyes fall on me. "You wouldn't dare!!" Dante growled, kicking back his seat and closing the distance between us both. He stared down at me, a challenging glare in his eyes as he repeated his earlier words. "You wouldn't fucking dare, Collombo." I felt so small in that moment, but I refused to cower before him. "This is my body. You have no right telling me what to do." I bit back, holding his angry gaze. "Don't push me, Collombo." He warned. "Don't push me." "If taking control over my own life and body 'pushes you', then I'm sorry, because I won't do otherwise. I'm aborting this baby!" I yelled, not realizing when the tears dropped from my eyes. "I said you are keeping my damn child!!" He blew out in rage, punching the mahogany desk in Doctor Ferrari's office. I shook in fear, watching as he brushed his fingers through his thick hair. Alexa had occasionally mentioned that he had a temper, but this was the first time I was seeing him display it. "I'm sorry, Mr Ferrari." Doctor Luigi said, pulling our attention. "But in situations like this.... " He dramatically paused. "...only the mother has a say. She is the only one who decides whether or not, to keep her child." His voice was so low, and I knew that he had been scared to give that information. Dante Ferrari may possess the power to bring the high and mighty down to their knees, but I wasn't going to let him think I was weak. I aggressively cleaned off the tears in my eyes, and rushed out of the doctor's office. I wasn't sure if my next step of action was the right one, but something told me to go for it. I was going to tell Marco everything. He deserved to know first hand, what was going on. I had accidentally gotten pregnant for someone else, who happened to be his enemy. So the right thing to do, was let him know. A part of me was so sure he'd ask me to abort this child. I wouldn't blame him. I also wanted to abort it, because it would be the most insane thing to be married to one man, and pregnant for his enemy!! I got to the parking lot and hopped into my car. I hadn't an idea Dante had followed me out, but thankfully, he didn't catch up with me. His figure became smaller in my side mirror, as I drove off. All through my short trip to Marco's office, I prayed in my heart that this whole situation didn't escalate more than I could bear. On getting to Marco's company building, I used the elvator to his office floor, rushing past his secretary and getting into his office. If only I knew that this was just the beginning of a dramatic and frustrating day for me. There on his work desk, was a familiar looking lady who was bent over, as Marco pounded into her from behind. I may not have felt heartbroken, but I definitely felt very disrespected. His shocked gaze locked with my stoic one, before I turned and walked out of his office. Bastard.EMILY'S POV. For what felt like forever, but was probably only a few minutes, I searched frantically for her, while the park continued to buzz with parents chaperoning their kids. I nearly pulled out my hair in frustration. I needed to act fast too, so I thought to call someone. Maybe Alexa. My hands shook as I opened my purse to take out my phone. While at it, my eyes breezed past the swing, and I may have caught glimpse of a familiar scarf. I did a rewind and looked back at the swing. The moment my gaze focused on the figure and I saw her calmly seated there, everywhere went silent in my head. A strand of tear fell from my eyes as I stood rooted in spot, unable to move. Right then, I thought about all the things that could have possibly gone wrong that night, if I had lost her indeed. It was only when a small voice inside my head urged me to get to her before she disappeared again, did I find it possible to move my legs. With each step I took towards her, my p
EMILY'S POV I was still dumbfounded, staring at the picture when I heard his voice behind me. "What the hell are you doing here?" He sounded angry. And maybe... just maybe, I sensed a hint of fear in his voice as well. I turned to him. "I... I..." I tried to say something, but no words were forthcoming. I was still shocked by the discovery I just made. He was once married to Luna? I looked down at the picture in my hand, and his eyes followed my gaze, his expression tightening as he looked at it. He collected the picture from me. "Sniffing around?" His voice was low and taunting, as he shot me an irritated glare. Sniffing around? Like I was a dog. My body suddenly felt so cold. The skin along my lashes began to itch me so badly, I knew I was about to cry. With weak legs, I walked out of the room, not even bothering to explain why I had come in the first place. "Emily." I heard him call me, much softly than how he sounded earlier. Somewhat remorseful. But I
EMILY'S POV I gently shut the door behind me after stepping out of Mrs Ferrari's bedroom. Dio, it was a lot. The doctor had come to check on her last night, and confirmed she had a panic-induced episode. He did say that she might seem more aware when she finally woke. Boy, was he right! Alexa was in panic mode. Her mother had indeed woken up, feeling different. Normal. What if she managed to notice the difference between uncle Massimo and her late husband? She had asked for her phone today. She had continuously demanded for Alexa and Dante's Nonno. She had demanded to know why they have been keeping her locked within the mansion. It was almost scary, how conscious she was. But most of all, I felt... worried. There was a certain manner at which she had looked at me this morning, and it made me feel like an impostor. It was a fleeting look that disappeared almost as soon as it came. I wasn't sure if I was over reasoning things. "How is she?" Alexa's worried v
THIRD PERSON'S POV Dante's face morphed into a raw look of disdain. This was certainly not a conversation he ever imagined having with Luna. "Are you threatening me?" He demanded, sounding quite terrifying. Luna may have folded right then. She swallowed nervously, unable to hold his eyes. Even though she once had this man wrapped around her finger, it had never disabused her of the belief that Dante could also be ruthless. "I just want you to give me another chance!" She suddenly yelled out in frustration. "Seeing you with her... makes my heart hurt so bad!" Dante wasn't sure what it was. Maybe it was the fact that his 'angelic' ex-wife who had always seemed so put together and classy, was having a literal breakdown before him, not caring that she looked crazy. In that moment, his heart clenched. Not painfully though. Maybe nostalgically..? But then, he was never one to succumb to blackmail. Definitely not from a woman who had hurt him so badly. Ohhh... He
TWO NIGHTS AGO. THIRD PERSON'S POV "Dante." Someone called his name and he paused, the voice all too familiar for him to not know who it was. In that moment, he wasn't sure whether to feel offended or not. He looked at Zach, trying to hide his apparent disappointment. After Zach had invited him for the suprise engagement party, one thing Dante had made sure to do was enquire whether or not Luna was going to be present. After unexpectedly meeting her at the yacht a while back, Dante honestly wanted to avoid anymore contact. "Dante." She called again, and his jaw ticked. "Can we talk for just a few minutes?" She requested. Dante wasn't sure what exactly had him feeling annoyed. Was it the way she managed to appear calm and put together while at it? He contemplated what response to give. Luna had been audacious enough to walk up to him in the presence of others, requesting his audience. Turning her away would make it seem as though he was still hurt. Like a weak ma
DANTE'S POV "What do you say?" Mamma asked uncle Massimo. I froze for a few seconds, unable to understand how the situation had escalated to this point. "Mamma, you can't share a room with him." I shook my head in disapproval, the words slipping out of my mouth before I could think it through. She turned her face to me, looking both offended and confused by my words. "Excuse me?" She shot back. "And why is that?" I went tongue tied. Of course, I did. What exactly was I supposed to say then? 'No, you can't stay in the same room as him, mamma. He is actually your late husband's brother'??? Most definitely not. "It's completely fine, mamma." Alexa quickly intervened. "We are more than happy to help you move your things into..." Her words were abruptly cut short when mamma suddenly went still. A sharp breath left her lips. Slowly, her hands rose to her head, fingers pressing against her temples like she was trying to hold something in place. "No…" She whisp
EMILY'S POV Immediately I was done with dinner, I made my way to Dante's study, praying within me that our conversation progressed smoothly. He could be quite... unpredictable. I was going to ask him for a part of my pay, like Agatha and I discussed. Hopefully, he was going to give me the money,
DANTE'S POVWe both stood at the door to mamma's bedroom later that evening, and uncle Massimo looked as nervous as I probably did.I was about giving another knock at the door, when it opened and Nurse Veronica stepped forward."Good evening, Mr Ferrari." She greeted, and I gave a nod. "This is m
EMILY'S POV I found myself heading towards the window in my room again, pushing open the curtain to look down. I had stared at that car, more times than I ever looked my father in the face. He had gotten me a car. And it wasn't just an average car, but a luxurious one. Funnily, I never rea
EMILY'S POV "I think I know something that would be able to fetch you such amount of money in just a few days." Agatha revealed. At the sound of that, my interest piqued. "What is it? Please tell me." "Calm down, Em..." She sighed, sounding hesitant again. "This is not a white job." "W
