CHAPTER NINE

She almost dropped the spoon she was holding when she turned around to see Adrian standing at the kitchen's entrance staring at her with a small grin on his face. "I didn't see you walk in; how long have you been there?" Serena inquired, her cheeks turning a deep red.

"Not long, you looked happy, so I didn't want to interrupt," Adrian said as he walked towards the counter, his gaze never leaving Serena's. "I just like cooking, that's all," Serena muttered softly as Adrian looked at her with a wry smile. "I made meatloaf," she says.

"I'm not a picky eater, so I eat anything." Adrian shrugged and sat at the kitchen's dining table.

Serena served him first, then took a seat on the opposite side of the counter, watching his every move.

"How's your wound healing?" Serena inquired, attempting to strike up a conversation in order to avoid the awkward silence.

"It's healed up now, why were you in the forest a few days ago?" Adrian inquired, surprising her.

"You don't want to know," Serena said

I'm enjoying it so far. The switch from 3rd to 1st person is a little confusing sometimes but, rereading the paragraph helps. Some minor spelling & grammar issues but, overall interesting.
