Tamara's face was unreadable as she stared at the screen of her expensive phone, waiting for a call or even a message from her husband, Galvino Lorenzo.

Tamara was pouting heavily, having been sulking for quite some time now. It was nearly evening, yet she hadn’t received a single update. He hadn't even greeted her, despite today being their third wedding anniversary.

She and her husband rarely saw each other because Tamara lived in Galvin’s mansion, while Galvin stayed at his penthouse since it was closer to the office. He only came home to her five times a month, and there was never a night he returned where nothing happened between them.

But over the past three months, he had only come home once. She didn't question Galvin, thinking he was just busy with the company—especially since he was running two of them. She also knew that his company was scheduled to release a new perfume lineup into the market before the year ended. As his wife, she felt she needed to be understanding.

Tamara and Galvin’s marriage was a complete secret. The only ones who knew were their two families and the maids serving the Lorenzo household.

Ever since they got married, Galvin had been running two famous corporations. He was now managing the Lorenzo Perfume Company, the number one luxury fragrance company owned by his family. Galvin was also the major shareholder of the House of Alonzo, the famous fashion company owned by Tamara’s family.

Unable to wait for his call any longer, Tamara decided to call him herself. It rang for a long time before he finally answered.

She smiled. “Hello, Hubby! Happ—”

This was nothing new to Tamara, as that was exactly how Galvin treated her. He harbored deep resentment toward her because he had only been forced into the marriage.

Tamara looked down, biting her lower lip. “S-sorry, Hubby, I didn't know...”

[“You never know anything, Tamara! What do you want this time, huh?”] His tone made it sound like she was always asking him for something.

“Are you very busy, Hubby? You haven't called me lately, so I decided to call you instead. Sorry if I disturbed you, I just wanted to check on you. Besides, it's been a while since you last came home... the month is almost over and you haven't shown up yet... But it's okay—”

[“Argh! To make this conversation short, fine! I'm coming home later! Happy?!”] His tone was filled with blatant irritation and reluctance.

Tamara was about to speak again to greet him a happy anniversary, but Galvin hung up on her.

But a smile quickly returned to her lips at the thought that maybe he was just pretending to be reluctant and actually had a surprise for her when he came home.

Tamara's heart swelled with overwhelming joy at the thought of her husband coming home to spend their anniversary with her. Instead of just sitting around and waiting for Galvin's arrival, she headed to the kitchen to cook a delicious dinner for him.

In the kitchen, Luz and the two maids were busy preparing the ingredients for dinner while watching the news on the television set inside the kitchen.

Luz froze in the middle of what she was doing. Sighing deeply and shaking her head, she turned off the television before turning to the two.

“What is wrong with you two? Stop gossiping about things like that. If Ma’am Tamara hears you, it might start a fight between the couple.” Manang Luz scolded them.

“Sister, I know you know what I’m saying is true! We’ve served the Lorenzo family together, and we both know that Sir Galvin and Miss K really had a wonderful relationship,” Perla insisted.

“Now it makes sense to me why Sir never went public about Ma’am Tamara being his wife! Poor Ma’am, she’s just a mere secret wife to Sir!” Melody murmured with a hint of sadness.

The older, Luz had taken care of Galvin since he was a child. So when Galvin moved out and started his own household, she was the one sent to take care of and serve them.

Meanwhile, Perla was a regular servant at the mansion, and Melody was a newcomer sent by Donya Gretchen to serve the newlyweds.

Manang pointed a finger at Perla. “It is still wrong to talk about our employers. You, Perla, keep your mouth shut.”

“But my gut feeling is really strong that Sir and Miss K are having an affair—”

Perla’s mouth shut automatically when she saw Tamara walk into the kitchen. Tamara furrowed her brows when she noticed them freezing up as if they had just seen a ghost.

“Is there dirt on my face?” She offered a small smile.

“Nothing, Ma'am,” Melody shook her head.

“What brings you here, Ma’am?” Manang Luz smiled faintly.

“Do you need anything?”

Tamara shook her head. “Galvin is actually coming home tonight. I wanted to cook his favorite food for him.”

“Oh alright, go ahead,” Luz agreed.

Luz fetched a clean apron for Tamara. After putting it on, Tamara began preparing the ingredients for her dish.

Tamara cooked cheerfully and happily, assisted by the three maids. She was entertained because Melody kept chatting with her, and Luz would chime in with stories once in a while, while Perla remained silent.

“Sister Perla, don't you have any plans of getting married?” Tamara turned to Perla.

She called her 'Sister' because Perla was already in her mid-30s.

Melody had previously shared that she wanted to get married once she turned twenty-eight. Melody was only 18 when she started working as a maid for the Lorenzo family. When Doñia Gretchen found out she was an achiever who couldn't finish school due to financial constraints, the dowager sponsored her education while she continued to work.

She was currently in her third year of college, making her quite young—or rather, the same age as Tamara. If she hadn't paused her studies before, she surely would have graduated by now, just like Tamara.

“Leave me out of your conversation, Ma'am, and mind your own business regarding my personal life!” Perla replied crossly.

Tamara was taken aback by Perla’s attitude. She had always felt that Perla didn’t like her, but she had always done her best to get along with the people around her. Since these were the people she spent all her time with, she genuinely wanted to maintain a good relationship with them.

Tamara managed a small smile and apologized. “I'm sorry, Sister Perla. Please don't be mad.”

Perla rolled her eyes. “It's fine, Ma'am! Just don't do it again, because what you’re doing makes you look like a gossip monger.”

Tamara never expected that it would come across that way to Perla. Her only intention was to be open with them so that if they ever needed anything, they wouldn't feel hesitant to tell her, as she was more than willing to help them.

Tamara just brushed it off, thinking Perla might be going through menopause, which explained her bitter attitude.

Luz shot Perla a harsh glare. Perla fell silent but turned the television back on.

“I’ll take over from here, Ma’am. You should go change, Sir might arrive any minute.” Luz took the bowl where Tamara was about to transfer the food she cooked.

“Perla, set the table. Melody, clean up the utensils,” Luz commanded, and the two immediately obeyed.

Tamara noticed there was quite a lot to clean up in the kitchen, so she decided to help Melody with the chores.

“I’ll handle this—”

“No need, Ma'am! I can manage this. Go on and make yourself pretty! Look at the time, Sir might be here soon, you should look fresh! I'm sure he misses you terribly!” Melody teased with a smirk.

Tamara's cheeks flushed, and she looked down in embarrassment. She was just about to step out of the kitchen when the woman on the news segment caught her attention.

She turned to look at Luz and Melody, who were watching her with worried expressions, while Perla seemed to be secretly enjoying the news. Her eyes snapped back to the television as she shook her head repeatedly.
