AMIRA

I wole up with a heavy heart but the sight of my children, especially Ezra running around the house was enough to lift my spirits temporarily. It still felt like a dream that he was well and awake and sometimes I pinched myself to ensure that my child was really well.

I stood barefoot in the kitchen with my hair pulled into a messy bun and an exasperates sigh as I watched the two little brats turn their breakfast to yet another game.

“Eli, your toast is not a sword, my love” I sighed

AUTHORAs they moved through the pack to get to Curtis, the pack were almost unrecognisable. What had once been the proud pack of the Moonrise pack was now drenched in blood and bodies.Soren tried not to look at the dead warriors on the floor. There were more dead Dark Ones, but it didn’t matter. Even one life lost mattered.Curtis didn’t just come to fight. He wanted to destroy it all and claim it all. Since his first plan of draining Soren of his power and making him the villain wasn’t working, he had moved on to plan B.His Dark Ones moved through the pack with coordinated movements he had planted into their heads so they wouldn’t lose. Losing was not an option for him.Curtis’s irritation was growing. He didn’t remember the Moonrise warriors being this powerful. Valeria had warned him they had trained and were prepared for fights against his Dark Ones, but he didn’t anticipate that it was to this extent.Soren cut through the chaos with Amira and Koa at his side. His eyes found C

SORENAmira’s grip was tight as we left the pack house. We decided not to tell the pack members that she was leaving. We didn’t know how many more spies Curtis had, and I wasn’t going to take that chance.“Do you think sending her away is the best way?” Ignis asked. He had been quiet the whole time.“Yes. I don’t want my kids here when the war escalates. They have powers, Ignis. If Curtis finds out, he would go for the kids as well," I told him.“You are right. That man is unpredictable." He sighed. “But how would we cope without them here? I’m going to miss my mate a lot."“Me too,” I muttered, glancing at Amira, who was glued by my side. I squeezed her hand, and she looked up at me, her eyes filled with sadness.I leaned down to kiss the side of her head. “Don’t worry, everything will be fine," I whispered. She gave me a small smile before looking forward. We met Koa and my mother at the entrance of the pack house, waiting with the twins. They rushed to our sides immediately, and I

SORENIf you asked me how I escaped from Curtis, I wouldn’t have an answer.Maybe 'escape' wasn’t the right word. The moment that warrior had told me that the pack had been invaded, the only thing I could think of was Amira and the kids.Ignis took over immediately, and I don’t know what happened. All I knew was that when he gave me control, we were back at the pack with the wounded and Koa.Merida had seen us the moment we entered the pack.I was stunned by the sight before me. Rune explained what had happened, and Meridia gave me the most devastating news.Valeria had hurt Noah, and he was dying. She had been on her way to him when we entered.I asked the pack doctors to tend to the wounded warriors and rushed to the pack house where she said Amira was waiting.I opened the door, my entire body filled with dread, and watched as the man who had raised Amira and granted us the mate bond lay still on the floor.Amira was on the floor beside him, and her shoulders shook as she saw me.“

AMIRA“Are you sure you don’t want to stay with us?” Leonora asked as we slipped out of the room. Before Alistair died, they had turned Soren’s old room into the twins' bedroom so they could feel at home whenever they came over.“I’m fine. I want to be home when Soren comes back. "I don't want him searching for me," I told her with a small smile. “What about you? Would you be okay staying alone? Do you want me to get someone to stay with you?”“No, child. I’m sure those little ones will be up soon. Taking care of them will ease the pain in my heart."I went home after that. The house was so cold without Soren and the twins. I went straight to our bedroom and curled into Soren’s side of the bed.“Please, be fine," I whispered into the dark. “I don’t think I can take it if you get hurt." The tears slipped down without me meaning to cry.Today had been a lot. Soren left for war. We were attacked. Dad had to confront Valeria, and I had to tell him why I left in the first place.I doubted

AUTHORThe packhouse was quiet as Noah moved through it. Most of the pack members were outside, still cleaning up after the chaos the dark ones had caused. It wasn’t until Ruelle had spoken about the vision that he realised that he had only seen Ivannah in the safe house and not Valeria. He hoped she was at least in her room and not with Curtis. That was if she was indeed helping him.The words still didn’t make sense to Noah. Valeria had lived with him for so long. She had never left the pack, so how could she be a traitor? And how could she have driven his child out of the house? The words still didn’t make sense to Noah. How could it? She was the woman he fell in love with because she had been so kind when he met her. When Alistair had let them into their pack, Noah had admired Valeria for raising Ivannah alone and never complaining. She was nice to all the pack members and cared for Amira. But she began to change when he mated her. He didn’t think much of it then, faulting it to h

AMIRARune’s stare pinned me in place as I struggled to come up with an answer. The suspicion in his eyes wasn’t just anger but betrayal, and I couldn’t bear to look at him any longer, so I directed my gaze to the ground instead.“You are overthinking, Rune.” I laughed, but it came out strained. “That’s not what happened… I didn’t… How could I…”The words came out strangled as I felt the lie try to form on my tongue but fail. I had always thought Rune was never the smart one in our circle. He always got things late, and you had to tell him a gossip or joke over fifty times before he got it, but clearly that had changed in the six years that I disappeared. But that realisation didn’t change anything. I couldn’t tell Rune about my powers when Soren didn’t know anything yet. It felt wrong for someone to find out before my mate.I wasn’t just scared of everyone finding out before Soren; I was scared of their judgment. They hadn’t received Soren well and were still scared of him. What woul
