I follow Matilda's lead to the supposed cave Lilly is, still in custody.

“She has to be okay” I mutter to myself severally as we proceed.

We approach the cave entrance, hidden behind a mossy ridge. As expected, guards flank the area.

But Matilda reaches into the folds of her dark cloak and tosses a shimmering white powder she got from Goddess knows where into the air.

A minute after, the men stagger, eyes fluttering. Within seconds, they collapse to their knees in a daze.

I raise a silent thumbs up at her and she flashes a quick wink in response.

Without wasting a breath, we hurry inside.

It’s weirdly cold inside. The kind of chill that lingers in your bones. I can hear the echo of dripping water in the distance. And then, as we round the next corner, I see her.

“Lilly…” My voice is barely above a whisper, as my body fills with unspeakable pain seeing the condition she is. Not so good.
