15. Dad wants to take her back

When I opened my eyes the first thing I saw was Zade’s face. He looked like a mess but I saw the fear of losing something precious in his eyes.

“Zade,” I called him with my weak voice. And he didn't waste any time and hugged me.

“I can't tell you how scared I was, Lily. I thought I lost you.” His voice cracked at the end and it was the first time I saw him like that. He was always rough and tough. I have never seen him so broken like this.

What would I say in this situation even though I thought I would not make it and die? I was never tricked like this. I never thought in my life that I would have to lose my life in order to save someone. And that too in the hand of the person whom I tried to save. I think I'm still too naive to trust others without a second thought.
