Chapter Fourteen

Elvis cleared his throat and began,      "Amanda, I like the way you smile. The truth is that you stole my heart that very day we bumped into each other. I like you already. I don't know how you will feel if I ask you to be my woman. Do not misunderstand me. I know this is our first lunch date, but I want you to know that I do not have any bad intention towards you. Please, give us a chance and I promise you that you will not regret it. I promise to always make you happy. Please, I meant every word I am saying to you. Other women will envy you. I am a man of little words. I don't talk much but whatever I say, that I always do."

Amanda couldn't believe that Elvis is asking her to date him and this is going to be her first date, if she agrees to it. She blushed and looked at Elvis's handsome face, " Elvis, please can you give me time to think about that? I will definitely tell you whether I will date you or not." 

Elvis looked at Amanda. He was worried that Amanda will say no to him and he ended up saying,   "Amanda, it is fine with me that you will think about it, but please don't make it long .Secondly, you have the right to say yes or no, but I want you to know that saying yes to me will make me the happiest man on earth. I will forever appreciate you. Please, do not reject me. You are the first  woman I'm asking to date me. I have never been into any relationship before. I really want you to be my first and my last. Please, do not say no. I may be poor today but remember that my situation will definitely change for good. I really need us, please. Amanda, you really deserve the best. You are the first woman that have really captured my heart. I have not done this before. Amanda, you have captured my heart and I can't deny the feelings i have for you anymore."

Amanda chuckled and gave him a beautiful smile. She told Elvis that she will give him a reply but he should bear it in mind that she has never dated before. " Elvis, I will give you my reply by tomorrow. It seems we have some things in common. I have neither dated before. I see men as heartbreakers because two of my girlfriend's were dealt with by  the men they loved and cherished. One of them went into trauma as a result of that and I said to myself, I will never date any man. You are the first man I have agreed to have a lunch with. I think what attracted me to have a lunch with you is your humility. You know how I bumped into you and stained your shirt, you were not angry with me and I was so happy that very day as a result of that."

Amanda said to herself " I think that is not the only reason. He is handsome and that is the second reason."

Amanda didn't know that she said it to the hearing of Elvis who was all smiles. He asked " Am I really handsome?"

Amanda became shy and was surprised that Elvis knew what she was thinking but she became embarrassed, when Elvis told her that she said it to his hearing and that was the time she admitted that Elvis is a handsome man. " Yes, you are handsome," She finally said.

" Thank you for saying that but I am promising you that I will never break your heart if you say yes to me." Elvis thanked her.

Amanda demanded for their bill, she was about paying she was told that the bill has been taken care of. Amanda demanded to know who paid for the bill. Elvis who looked surprised was smiling inwardly. 

She was told that an unknown man who saw her smiling, liked her smiles and paid the bill.

Amanda couldn't believe it. Elvis who appeared to be jealous after hearing that a man liked her smiles and as a result of that paid the bill said to Amanda, " I know that I am poor but it is so shameful that another man paid for our bills. He even said that he likes your smiles.  Do I really deserve to be humiliated by that man because I am poor?"

Amanda who was confused because of how jealous Elvis was, said, " Don't you think it is a harmless gesture? I see nothing wrong with that, because I do not even know the man and he didn't even say he wants anything from me. I think you are overacting by being jealous. Please, if you really want me to say yes to you then you have to stop referring to yourself as a poor man."
