Chapter 1

Jason Tynara was tired, overworked, and probably hungry. He put down the pen and took his phone, once more checking his W******p messages. There were loads of messages as he'd thought. From groups, close friends, top colleagues, and even political leaders who were somehow his friends or potential business partners.

Loads of messages from strange numbers were also there which he knew must be either from journalists who wanted interviews with him or 'demandeuse d'emploi'-How they got his number, Jason was yet to add it to the load of problems he had.

Jason was however interested in one particular person; his fiancee, Angelina Stone. She'd Whatsapped him an hour earlier demanding for some 'little money as she called it, but to a hard-working businessman like Jason Tynara, two million dollars was no 'little money.

He had been gentleman enough to reply, asking her to wait for him to send the money in two hours but she'd called and voiced her vehemence.

Even as Jason searched for her contact, her piquant voice rang in his head.

"Hello baby, sorry I...." Jason had begun saying when he picked up the call but her screaming high tone stopped him.

"PLEASE! PLEASE!! I DIDN'T CALL TO HEAR ANY EXCUSES FROM YOU"

For a moment, Jason moved the phone from his ear and stared at the screen as if he were looking at her.

He didn't believe it was that sweet angelic voice that ranted those words.

"AREN'T YOU THE OWNER AND CEO OF TEXIC GROUP? AREN'T YOU SUPPOSED TO BE THE YOUNGEST BILLIONAIRE IN THE WORLD?"

Jason could imagine the scowl on her face. He had opened his mouth to talk but no words came out.

He wanted to tell her that he was sorry and hated seeing her upset but didn't find the right words.

After so many long seconds passed, he'd known what to say but Angelina had dropped the call.

He had called again but she wouldn't pick up.

In that state of perplexity, he'd called a bank manager and asked for two million dollars transferred to her account.

He had texted her on W******p to know if she'd received the money.

Presently, he saw her number. His guts clenched when he saw that she hadn't replied albeit the message being displayed 'seen'.

Jason signed, inhaled deep and slow, placed the phone on the table, and stared around the massively furnished room of his office.

His eyes incidentally looked at the clock which was hung just above the exit door of his office.

It was one-thirty pm. That meant it'd just been about an hour since he had his lunch. Then why the heck was he hungry?.

He felt an urge to go home but one glance at the table asked him whether he was really serious!

There were still many loads of documents to sign, some to review, and messages to read.

Besides, it wasn't even time to go home yet. His schedule had his closing time on Tuesdays at 2 pm and he knew he couldn't go home before the closing time.

Well, not that anyone could punish him or something.

Of course, he was the boss. The owner and CEO of Texic Group, a retailing company. Over the last few years since his adopted father died, he'd headed Texic Group painstakingly and moved it out of bankruptcy.

He'd worked without tire to place Texic Group as the largest retail company in the world.

It is that diligence that had made him a billionaire at the age of 25.

That diligent nature of him had made him act as owner and CEO at the same time instead of hiring other people to do the work.

That was fair reason enough to go back home before time but he knew more than anyone else that the load would still be there waiting for him the next day. Better he had it done.

"Yes sir?" Alex, his secretary's voice rang through the earphones in his ears as he placed a call at her.

"Would you get me some coffee please?"

"Sir... now?... I mean you just...."

"Need a cup of coffee"

Jason cut her short before she could say more.

He quite understood the confusion in her voice as she stuttered but he knew how Gobby Alex was.

"Ok sir," she said as the call dropped in a bleep.

Jason sent his hands into his dark thick hair. Thoughts of Angelina came rushing back to him in a manner he could not control.

He wondered where she was at the moment or what she'd been doing.

'What does she wants to do with two million dollars?' Jason asked aloud, surprisingly to no one at all.

'I mean, I bought her 2 cars this month. We live at the same place so she couldn't be talking about paying any rents.'

Jason knew perfectly what a thousand dollars were worth in New York. He'd had a fair share of street life to know the worth of money like two million dollars and so Angelina asking him to give it to him was mind troubling.

Especially because he didn't know what she wanted to do with it.

In as much as he didn't want to admit it, he had spent hundreds of millions of dollars in the last three months. If he spent as much as that, why was he judging Angelina?.

Fortunately, he didn't have to answer that question as the door creaked open.

Alex walked in with coffee placed on a tray. Her face was as jovial as always, with an increase in makeup.

Her hair was cut and dyed blue.

Her blouse was well sewn to fit her slender body.

She placed the tray on the table before Jason with a curtsey.

"Thanks" Jason whispered.

"Anything else, sir?"

"No! you may go, thanks"

She opened the door and walked out without another word.

Jason took coffee sipped one or two times, then placing it down, he took his pen and continued signing the documents Alex had placed on his table since the day earlier.

Sipping on the coffee again, he felt more better and energized.

Suddenly, he heard a knock at the door. He signed and frowned angrily.

Jason Tynara wasn't someone who liked to be distracted when he worked.

Alex knew this and he knew very well that she couldn't send someone to see him without informing him first.

On that note, he knew she was the one knocking at the door.

"It's me, sir. May I come in?"

Her voice rang through the door as she spoke when he didn't reply to her knocks.

"Yes come," he said after some long seconds of pensiveness.

The door opened once more to reveal the slender body of Alex.

"Sir..." she began with a curtsey."....Mr. Bransen is here to see you," she said in a rush.

"Look at the time Alex"

"Sir, I warned him but he insisted it was important"

"Whatever it is, tell him to come back tomorrow. I'm already calling it a day and so don't have time for any meetings"

Alex nodded, got up, and opened the door to leave, but she hadn't moved too far when Jason's phone beeped. He picked it up and unlock it to read the message. It was from Mr. Bransen.

The old man must have known Alex's delay meant she was trying to convince him.

He knew if that was the case, Jason wasn't going to give him an audience, so decided to text him by himself.

Jason's face hardened as he stared at the message on his phone.

"Send Mr. Bransen in, Alex," he said to his secretary without lifting his head.

He heard the door closed in front of him and Alex's footsteps as she walked to the waiting room.

He stared at his phone's screen to be sure he'd read Mr. Bransen's message very well but the words were still the same.....

'SIR, TEXIC GROUP HAS OR IS ABOUT LOSING $5 BILLION '
