003 "Get the guards to throw him out!"

Becky's POV

I stood in front of my father's coffin as I cried. It's been a week and I still can't believe that my father, Mr. Smith Baker is dead. What hurt the most was the fact that we had had an argument before his death.

His driver, Clinton, had even made a comment that he was angrily going to work that morning when his car collided with another. He had refused to let Clinton drive because he was angry I didn't come back home that night. I had spent the night with Ephraim without letting him know.

I felt so guilty and pained, my heart ached so much, I just wished I could rewind time.

Father's partners had come to visit one after the other, others sent their condolences. It was too heartbreaking and painful. One minute, he was alive and the next we heard he was dead.

When I rushed to the hospital, I saw my father being rolled away. I had cried my eyes out that day that I can't remember much about what happened except that I had cried. And then, that idiot gardener came to the hospital as well. I accused him and hit him because he was the main reason father and I had a fight. He was the reason I had left home and didn't come back that night, he was also the reason father had angrily driven only to get involved in a fatal accident.

The words the priest said, I didn't understand. All I knew was that he was speaking about how good my father was and how he prayed that God would accept him in heaven.

Ephraim stood beside me, wearing black and black as I was. His face was emotionless, his eyes fixed on the coffins. Grandma Smith cried also, she had lost her only son to the hands of cold and wicked death.

Just then Kelvin, my personal guard, came behind me and whispered,

“Ma'am, Tyler is here” Ephraim raised a brow as he could also hear him. I turned slightly to ask,

“Who's Tyler?”

“The Gardener”

My jaw clenched as I spat through gritted teeth,

“I told you I do not want to see that beast anywhere near me. Get the guards to throw him out. I don't want to ever hear his name ever again. Do you hear me?” He nodded and walked away.

“Do you want me to handle him?” I heard Ephraim ask, and I shook my head. There was no need as I knew my personal guard would take care of it. Aside from that, I needed Ephraim more here than anywhere else.

I turned to see how the guards pushed the gardener out of the cemetery. He didn't fight them but kept looking my way. I sneered, I hated everything about him. I don't care about his hot body anymore, I didn't want to see him anywhere around me ever again.

When the coffin was laid six feet down, I rested my head on Ephraim's shoulder as I cried bitterly. My heart ached, but the love of my life was there to comfort me.

It's been days and the company just had to run on its own till I recovered. Our family lawyer, Attorney Collins, had also advised me to stay home till the will be read before I could fully start going to work and I also thought it was a good idea, especially when I was looking like a monster with my swollen eyes and cheeks.

I indeed needed to recover. Ephraim had only come to see me once after the burial, he explained that work had been really hectic and I understood. I can imagine how it would be for me after not visiting the place for weeks.

Today was the day the will would be read. We waited patiently for the lawyer, who said he was on his way.

“I don't understand why a lawyer would keep his clients waiting. It's unacceptable” Ephraim grumbled in anger. And I agree with his words because why would he keep us waiting?

“He said he was stuck in traffic. You can't blame him for the traffic” Grandma said, and before they had an argument, I said.

“He is here”

“I'm so sorry I am late. There was this huge traffic jam—”

“Just get to the point,” Ephraim growled.

“Someone's missing,” Attorney Collins said, causing me to frown.

The family was complete. Grandma was here, so am I and Ephraim, so what does he mean by that?

“Attorney Collins, there is no one missing. The family is complete, or do you want me to get my mother's people as well?” I asked.

“And my son, Smith, is the only child I have. He doesn't have any siblings, so who is it that's missing?” Grandma asked confused as well.

“There is someone missing and until that person is here, we cannot read the will,” Attorney Collins said calmly, making my heart race. Was he joking?

“Are you joking?” Ephraim asked in annoyance. Even I wanted to ask that question. What does he mean by until the person was here, he wouldn't read the will?

“I'll just go and make a call” he didn't reply to our questions but only walked out of the living room.

“What nonsense is this?” I asked in anger. I had already stood to my feet ready to get the man back here when Grandma stopped me.

“Becky, he will come back. Don't stress yourself”

I sat back down, but I wasn't comfortable. I can't understand any of these. When he came back, Ephraim rushed in, holding him by the collar,

“What the hell is wrong with you?!?” He yelled, “Would you read that fucking will or should I make you?!?”

“I don't know you. You shouldn't be here” The lawyer said, making Ephraim's anger rise.

“Are you fucking kidding me?!?” He yelled, “I am her fiancé. If I am not here, no one will be!” He roared and the lawyer chuckled.

“I'm sorry Mr. Man, but I don't think Mr. Smith recognized you as one. As for the one we've been waiting for…” he pulled himself from Ephraim's grip before turning around to point at the door,

“Here he is”
