Chapter Twenty-five
We were all refrained from visiting Mary at the sick bay yesterday after she fainted.
But today, students kept on trooping in and out of science class to check on her. Some out of curiosity, others, out of genuine care.
I wanted to check on her but decided to quench the fire of that thought at the moment.
My butt graced my seat as I winced slightly. My injury stung a bit whenever I was about to sit down, or when I took deep breaths and worse when I walked under the scorching sun.
The school had a playful aura about it this afternoon because the exams ended today. Senior students loosened their hairdos while juniors ran about the compound.
"Hot babe!" Ella hollered as she waltzed through the door of my classroom.
"So hot she got burned!" James teased.
"Shut up." Nuel smacked his head as he appeared behind them.

It'd been two days and Junior was still acting the same to everyone except his dad. Aunty was getting worried by the day, I felt Junior drifting away slowly.I made it a mission to find out what was wrong. I was presently in his room trying to get him to talk."Junior I've been watching you for the past two days, something is wrong and I'm sure of it, please talk to me. It's Atti." I assured. He still wore an unsure look."Junior baby, you know you can talk to me, trust me, you can confide in me, I promise I won't tell mummy." I cajoled." Promise?" He spoke after five minutes of staring at the ceiling."Promise." I said without hesitation."Let's go to your room." He got off the bed."Okay." I agreed before walking out, Junior two steps behind, keeping his distance."Now will you tell me what's wrong?" I questioned in a calm voice.

I was glad I spoke to Junior yesterday and to say we had fun was an understatement. Junior was feeling better and it gladdened my heart. Even his family noticed he was more cheerful now.Talking actually has an impact on people, words are indeed sharper than swords.I woke up about thirty minutes ago and I'd been laying on the bed staring at the ceiling, being thankful for everything.I could hear the voice of a woman conversing with JB at the gate. I peeped out my window. I had two windows in my room and could look through them to two different sides of the house.I sighted a elderly woman in a black T-shirt and she was sporting the typical double wrapper style common among the Igbo tribe of Nigeria with a pair of that slipper-like wedge elderly women liked.I couldn't see her face clearly but her gestures indicated she was mad about something. It's been one day, twenty one hours, twenty eight painful minutes since Calista arrived and she's made me want to pull her hair in annoyance.She's been up to silly tricks, and I guess I was beginning to gain a new perspective to things; Mama's favourite was Ruby but Calista's favourite was Rose. It's been five days since Calista stepped foot in this house and it's been drama after drama each day. The past few days had been hell and I couldn't wait to go back to school, my heart still ached and I might just have to leave with it that way.I shed the last tear I had to spare on this issue, I was done crying. It was time to move on. I'd spent four whole days of my holiday crying over some boy who was probably living his best life somewhere in the world.I couldn't reach him and I guess it was pretty obvious, he'd blocked me on all platforms and avenues. It was as though, to him, I meant nothing and the love we share,or better still, shared was just a phase that wore off.School was resuming on Monday and I couldn't wait to embrace the distraction it would serve as to me. "Welcome madam, this way please." The nurse directed Mrs Laura to Attracta's ward. "Oh my God!, Attracta!" Mrs Laura exclaimed before her hand flew to her mouth in pure shock. " I have to call her parents, I have to call her parents." She fumbled through her handbag for her phone. "Mrs Peters, Mrs Peters." She rambled as her hands shook vigorously whilst she searched through her contacts. "Hello madam." She tried to maintain herself. "Good evening ma, I was just about to call you ma, Attracta isn't home yet and I just arrived home, I went to search for her at school but the whole compound was empty. I'm very worried,what would I tell her parents?"
