Chapter 2

Run, If You Don't Want To Die.

I couldn't stay longer but then I had to pretend further, hopefully I might escape death today again.

"Alpha, the Beta and some werewolves are here to see you." Markus walked into the dungeon.

"Why are they here?? I thought we just finished the Alpha's meeting??" He snarled as he walked away. "Wrap this mess up and bury her immediately." I heard his faint voice before he left completely.

Markus drew closer to me, poking me with his right hand and I acted numb. He had picked up a rod as he hit me hard to confirm if I was really dead. I maintained my state of being because Markus wouldn't care less before strangling me to death too.

He had cut the heavy rope from my neck as my body leaves a thudding sound as I fall on the floor.

"Finally you're dead. You couldn't escape death today." He chuckled as he turned me around so that my face was faced upward.

I peek at him as he went to carry a bag that could contain my body and I maintained all calmness as he knelt down before me.

Markus was one of the toughest warriors in our pack and to take him down, I really needed so much strength and stamina. Killing him wasn't an option because I was already too weak for that.

The moment be had touched my left arm, I had crossed my arm across his neck and then I used my other hand to grip my wrist and then pulled him on me as I wrapped his torso with my legs to keep him from fighting back and I stretched myself the more like I was about tearing him apart as I choked him really hard for 12 seconds before he passed out.

I limped gently up the stairs, making no single noise. Right now all I thought of was to run away before he sets his eyes on me again.

"The supreme Alpha, Bardulf Taylor, isn't happy with you." I heard a husky voice, too deep and mind chilling.

"Please, spare my family. They knew nothing, absolutely nothing about it." I heard my uncle's voice break through the wood that separated us from each other.

"You made an oath to protect the crest at all cost and if anything happens, then the retribution would be to give up a heavy sacrifice to the Alpha, but what then do you have?? Is it your underaged children??" The voice echoed again as I couldn't hold it up again as I looked through the vertical holes in the wood and I saw the Beta of the Silver Moon Pack, Fridolf Dickens. He was as deadly as Alpha Bardulf and wouldn't dare go against Bardulf. He had a brutal loyalty which made him aggressive and dark hearted.

"But I have taken care of the mess and there was no harm done." Uncle pleaded as he rested his face on the ground. "Fridolf, spare my household and we will leave Chicago forever, never to return."

"You have just now to make a decision. You should be thankful that the alpha is kind enough to have mercy upon you if only you can pay a worthy price to pay off your mistake." Fridolf mumbled.

The faces of the men with him were all hardened. No one ever dared the silver Moon park. They were aggressive and trained to kill and only a word from the Alpha's mouth can utterly destroy an entire rival pack.

"Your time is almost up, Alpha. Lowell." Fridolf cuts in as uncle sobs. I saw the disgust all over his face as he heard Adolphus and Rudina crying like they were already taken for slaughter. "Better still, you could give your beautiful, little daughter to the Alpha!!" He chuckled as he squatted right before Rudina as he raised her head up, having her look right into his eyes. "She would make a good wife for the Alpha. She might be too young but definitely she'll grow so fast being in his arms!" He scoffed as his men laughed at his lame joke.

"Leave my children out of this!! I beg you." Ulva cried as she grabbed Adolphus' hand and that of her thirteen years old daughter, Rudina. "Let my children live, Adolphus knew nothing about the crest nor did Rudina. It was that cursed child of Erikson, please spare my children and take me instead." Ulva whimpered.

Adolphus was almost clocking 18 in less than 14 hours and he couldn't wait to transform into his wolf form and also get to see his mate, but no, everything came shattering down in one day, one gentle night.

I could vividly remember how I heard their loud voices as they watched a movie series and now their entire life flashes right in front of them.

"Then you have just 60 seconds to make your decision, either you give half of your territory to the Supreme alpha as retribution or marry your daughter to him." Fridolf muttered as he folded his arms together as he tapped the ground hard with his right leg.

It was obvious that he was already getting frustrated and right now, he wouldn't even blink an eye before killing everyone of them and then returning to claim the remnants of our pack members.

"I will give you someone who fits for the position of the Alpha's wife. She will be the perfect match for him." He speaks out as Fridolf grabs Rudina left arm. "Markus??" He shouted at the top of his voice. "Bring Yifa here, now!!"

What is he saying?? Did he intentionally not tighten the rope to kill me immediately?? Was he just being so extreme in his punishment?? I felt my feet grow numb as I staggered a bit, causing the lampshade that was rested on the cabinet crash down.

They all raised their heads up as they looked at my direction. Luckily enough I had hidden myself in the dark as I tried control how fast my heart beat. It pace was really fast as I rested my right hand on my chest and my left hand was on my mouth so that I don't end up crying out.

I wouldn't let them take me to the Alpha. Alpha Darwin was one notorious man in the whole of Chicago and every pack in Chicago feared him. He had no heart, no conscience, be was a beast.

"Markus??" Uncle called out again and this time around I had calculated my next move. I had to take the stairs up, that was my only chance.

I sprang up from the dark as I took the stairs up.

They all raised their heads as they saw me. "Go, get her before she runs away!!" I heard uncle growl as I ran upstairs back to the upper rooms and I had jumped off the balcony which led to the backyard of our little house and I heard the third shot and the fourth shot as I kept running.

If I ended up being caught, then definitely, that was going to be my end. I cried as I kept on running to our garage as the hefty men kept on chasing after me.

I had seen his old vehicle which he had parked in the carriage and luckily for me it was accessible since the key was hanging right in front of the car.

It was a Toyota Corolla KE25 and I immediately entered it as I drove away, breaking through the side door of the garage which led through the wood and then to the main road.

I kept on driving as fast as I could. I had no destination but I really had to keep driving until I was out of danger. I had taken the lonely road that led to the bridge.

"Damn it." I groaned as I realized I wouldn't be able to stay that long anymore. The wolfsbane was making my vision blurry and I couldn't see the road clearly if not for the blinding car lights and sounds.

My present state was that of a drunk woman and I had finally gotten hold of myself as I looked up and for the last time, I felt my soul live me before I went crashing down the road as my vehicle kept on tumbling over and over again and the sirens in the car kept on ringing out loud as blood gushed out from my stomach and the fuel was leaking already.

I couldn't get myself out of the vehicle as my legs were stuck in the brake axis and my eyes soon became teary.

Within less than an hour, this car would explode because of the fuel which was dropping really fast. This was my fate. A miserable life and an uncertain death. I was destined to die tonight. I cursed as my vision failed me again.
