Chapter 1

Henry's reply came back instantly. "Did the culture shock make you dumb? Mom and Dad only have two kids: you and I. There's no third child."

After reading the reply, I glanced at the girl before me.

Although her makeup was meticulously done, she didn't resemble anyone in our family.

I had a hunch, but I still texted Henry to ask. "If we have no younger sister, then how come there's a 'Miss Gaston' confronting me with her lackeys?"

The chat showed that my brother was "typing..." for a long time, then a few long paragraphs of text came pouring in.

"Miss Gaston? Don't tell me you ran into Nina Ferrell? I'm so fed up with her. She keeps telling everyone at school that she's my sister. Mom and Dad sponsored her for a few years out of kindness, and she thinks she's part of the Gaston family now!

"It's Mom's fault, her heart is too soft. Whenever Nina cries and plays the victim, Mom lets her get away with anything. She said Nina has had a rough life. Because of that, Nina keeps telling people she's a Gaston and uses that to her advantage to gain benefits.

"You don't have to show her any respect! If she acts up, just yell at her! That's what I did!"

I knew Mom and Dad sponsored a student from a disadvantaged background.

At the time, I was abroad with Grandpa and Grandma.

Meanwhile, Henry was always traveling and was rarely home.

We were worried Mom and Dad would feel lonely, so we weren't against it, thinking it would be good for them to have some company.

Surely, even if that poor student wasn't grateful, she'd at least be well-behaved and sensible, right? Yet, she was actually using the Gaston name to throw her weight around outside.

Looking at my brother's complaints, I could tell that he had been unhappy with Nina for a long time.

The thought of my brother, the young master of the Gaston family, losing to a poor sponsored student amused me a little.

Nina, seeing me focused on my phone, immediately became irritated.

She signaled to one of her followers, who instantly understood and tried to slap me.

I stepped back to dodge the slap and raised an eyebrow at Nina. "So impatient. Why don't you check your phone first?"

Before Nina could say anything, the phone in her pocket rang.

One look at the screen and her face instantly froze.

Her expression changed several times. Finally, she put on a confident smile. She answered the call and spoke first.

"Brother, your girlfriend is such a terrible person. She's so disrespectful to me. Who knows what kind of trouble she'll cause in the future! Did you call me because she made up lies about me?"

Her words earned an angry response from my brother.

"What kind of nonsense are you saying? Do you know who Jenny is?! Apologize to her right now!"

Nina didn't expect my brother to yell at her after hearing her twisted version of the story. She immediately sounded even more aggrieved.

"I'm doing this for your own good, Henry. She's a gold digger, how can you not see that? No matter how rich our family is, we shouldn't let a gold digger like her squander it!

"You should make her apologize to me instead and also make her return the bag to me! Otherwise, I'll complain to Mom and never talk to you again!"

Of course Henry wouldn't fall for Nina's cheap attempt at sowing discord. He simply glared at her with disgust."You think you can just come here and cause a rift between me and my sister? Don't you know I've been annoyed with you for years?"As he said this, his expression turned a bit strange."You heard my sister say she's going to kick me out of the company? She's the real heir of the Gaston family, not me! I was the one who begged her to come back. Why would she kick me out for no reason?"Nina never imagined that I was the real heir of the Gaston family, so she asked in shock, "You're just going to watch her become the heir? Don't you feel even a little bit dissatisfied? Jenny is a girl! You should be the heir! "The boys always inherit the family business in other families. If Jenny inherits Gaston Corp., isn't that the same as handing over everything the Gaston family has to outsiders?!"Nina was born into a family in a mountain village that heavily favored sons over daug

My parents and brother came out of their rooms, rubbing sleep from their eyes. They found Nina curled up and crying at the foot of the stairs. She complained, her voice full of grievance, "Jenny, I know I've made a mistake. I shouldn't have embarrassed you in public. I'm sorry! But you didn't have to push me down the stairs!"Seeing my parents walk over, she immediately put on a strong front again. She tried hard to lift her head and choked out her words, "Mom... I mean, Mr. and Mrs. Gaston, I'm fine. I don't think Jenny did it on purpose. It's my own fault. I lost my footing and slipped..."I folded my arms and watched her calmly as she used this cliché trick to frame me.After she finished speaking, I scoffed, took a few steps down the stairs, and slapped her on the face. The slap was crisp and loud, making Nina cover her face in disbelief.Eventually, wild joy flashed in her eyes, but she forcefully suppressed it.She merely put on a look of utter humiliation and turned to m

Nina hadn't expected my brother to expose her identity in public. Her face immediately flushed crimson, and she looked at my mom pleadingly. But Mom had already come over to my side. She cradled my face with concern, examining the injuries I'd sustained from the fight. She didn't even spare a glance for Nina.I coolly chimed in."You claim to be a member of the Gaston family, you just took your mother's surname. Don't you know that Mom's surname is also Gaston? So, whose surname is Ferrell, exactly?"Suffering one setback after another, Nina's face drained of all color. Her sidekicks quietly distanced themselves from her, their gazes turning strange."She's not a Gaston? She's just pretending this whole time?""Seriously, a poor student actually made fools of us all. She even made us beat up the real Miss Gaston. Our families won't get dragged into this mess, right?""I'm totally done with her. Is she crazy? She provoked that girl without even knowing who the girl was! Becaus

Nina's shriek interrupted my mom. Her expression shifted repeatedly before settling on a look of grievance."Mom, when did you secretly sponsor someone else? Didn't you say I was enough? "Stop sponsoring her, Mom. I'm telling the truth! She really did try to seduce Dad! Don't fall for her innocent face, she's just after our family's money. "Look, I have evidence. Mom, if you go soft on her now, Dad will get lured away by this she-devil. You'll definitely regret it!"As she spoke, she frantically shoved the photos closer and closer to my mom's face. She didn't notice my mom's expression becoming more and more unhappy. When Mom said nothing in response, Nina panicked and resorted to her old tricks. She tossed the photos aside and started crying, wiping away tears."Mom, I know I'm not that important to you. I know I can't compare to my brother. "But I never thought I'd be even less important than this she-devil! You'd rather believe her than me! "I don't want to stay in the

Mom naturally didn't believe Dad would cheat, but hearing James briefly explain that Nina was fighting with another girl at the campus, she still rushed over at once.Nina and I were finally pulled apart by our classmates after a while.James stepped forward with a frown and asked what happened.Nina, full of grievances, immediately started complaining."Mr. Hale, I didn't want to fight her, but she's so vile that I couldn't hold back! You would get angry too if the mistress who destroyed your family flaunted herself in front of you!"She casually picked up a photo from the ground and handed it to James. After looking at the photo, James frowned. He turned to me and was about to admonish me when I coldly spoke up. "Why don't you check my enrollment information first?"James, though doubtful, grabbed his phone. After pulling up my student information and taking a look at it, his eyes widened in disbelief. He looked back and forth between his phone and Nina. Then, his expression

He placed the fruit next to me and massaged my shoulders and legs."Jenny, dear, I know it's not easy. Here, let me feed you some fruit."I turned my head, but before I could even take a bite, I heard the click of a camera from outside the door. I looked toward the sound and saw Nina hastily running away. With a frown, I turned to Dad and asked, "Is Nina Ferrell living with us?"Dad nodded and said casually. "She said our house is close to school, so it's more convenient for her to live here. Your mom's always feeling bored at home anyway, so she agreed."I nodded and said no more. It was Mom who decided to sponsor Nina, so it was best to discuss matters concerning her with Mom instead.Later that evening, Mom finally came home.Seeing me, she pulled me aside and started asking all sorts of questions to find out how I was doing.I was overwhelmed by her barrage of questions and forgot to ask her about Nina.It wasn't until the next day when I saw Nina at school that I rememb
