I went up to my office and shut it down. I still had some things to finish but I didn’t feel like doing anything, nothing else mattered. I needed to go. I got to the bar just in time for my drink. The fellas had ordered a round, and I was happy. I needed this straight and fast. I knew me and if I didn’t calm down, I would be back at that restaurant. Eve…I awakened to an empty apartment. I had no idea when, but Janet and Marshall left. I stretched and looked around for my phone. I had no clue what time it was. I do know I had a good time last night. Immediately the thoughts of all that happened came fluttering back. I smiled at the thought. I thought it was a dream, but I knew better. He nestled down into my neck as he sang in my ear. I could hear his soul cry in his voice. So, I pulled him in tighter, letting him know he was safe with me. “Yes”, I kept saying to him, as I stroked the back of his head. He began kissing my neck and before I knew it the song had gone off and come back on as his face slid up to mine. He looked at my lips, asking for permission as his jaw clinched…so sexy. I looked at his lips, bit my lip and looked back into his eyes. He low moaned and I was spent. He gripped tighter as he brought his lips to mine. His tongue immediately invaded my mouth. It was like candy, as I tossed it around in my mouth. It was perfect. His hands ran through the curls in the back of my hair as he tugged softly. I woke up a few hours later, refreshed. I looked at my phone to see what time it was. There were several text messages. I had slept like a rock because the chiming would usually wake me. One from Janet who was supposed to be coming over for the cooking class, which she cancelled. She was going out with Billy, figures. One was from Stu, asking was I good. He knew I was spending Saturday to myself as I always did. I felt bad, I would text him back later. I had two from an unknown number. The first one said, “I’m sorry.” The second one said “I miss you already.” Butterflies started to flutter in my stomach. It was him, I could feel it but I couldn’t respond, although I wanted to. We sat down and he looked at my now cold dinner sitting on the table. He looked from it to me and back to it. He busted out laughing and I looked down at the table then back to him, trying to figure out what was so funny. “I am sorry. After breakfast, we spent time laughing and talking. He was a normal dude, nothing like I imagined. We talked about light stuff, but I was still too afraid to ask the big question. I tossed and turned all night. It was the worse sleep I have ever had in my life. I saw her when I shut my eyes and when I opened them. I talked to my mom and God when I got home last night. But it still didn’t stop her from flooding my mind. I was still laying there, looking at the ceiling and thinking of her. Enough, get up man and get yourself together. I rolled out of bed and hit the shower. After getting cleaned up, I was ready for a run. Running always made me feel better. The cool air would do me some good. I jogged my way right to the job.
