There had never really been any competition. That plot of land had gone directly to Reynolds Corporation without controversy.

But the man on the phone showed no fear.

“Mr. Reynolds, even if I hadn’t named my price, wouldn’t you have figured it out anyway? You’re not that naïve. If you agree, the contract will be in your office today. Sign it, and Steven Miller will be dropped off downstairs.”

“…Fine.”

Sarah knocked gently on Scarlett’s door. No response. She let herself in.

Scarlett sat on the edge of the bed, just waking, staring blankly out the window. The room light was on, but it didn’t seem to matter.

Sarah didn’t switch it off. Instead, she walked over and placed a bowl of warm oatmeal porridge on the nightstand. Her voice was soft.

“Scarlett, try to eat something.”

Scarlett turned her head slowly, her eyes vacant and confused.

I think in this story in the end the villain like Leon and Vivian still win. In that case, what’s the point of having the ML and FL.
