ELOWEN

"She hang up on me?" I asked, pulling the phone away from my ear, tapping my feet on the ground impatiently.

Lilith is too self-centred to take out time to possibly stalk me. She didn't have the motive to do it, at least not physically. She didn't care enough about my life to do so.

"You're not rethinking it, are you?" Celeste asked from the doorway, peering into my room. I tucked my phone under my pillow, hesitating with my hands hovering over the tickets.

"I don't think I can do this Celeste." I whined, burying my head in my palms. "Here we go again," she started, crossing her hand over her chest.

"What's holding you back?" She asked, her voice softer this time. "What if he says no?" I muttered, fiddling with my fingers.

"Ryan would never say no to you." She stated firmly and my eyes snapped up to her, my eyes searching her face.

"What makes you say that?" I asked, lowering my eyes to the tickets as I felt my cheeks burn with the warmth from her words.

ELOWEN"Can I get the usual?" I tapped on the counter impatiently. The last couple of weeks had been a blur to me. I hadn't stepped out of my hotel room during the day, only at night and only for a drink."On your tab?" I nodded in affirmative as I watched him grab a bottle off the rack and a shot glass. "Here you go," he pushed me a shot glass of amber liquid and tapped on the counter, a loud thud resounding in my head.My eyes instinctively flicked to his face, irritation evident on it but his eyes were not on me, they were on a figure behind me, one whose presence was reflected on my drink. My breath hitched, my throat tightened suddenly, the fear of the realization of who that could be running down my skin as I slowly turned my head, my heart drumming against my ribs so hard I thought it might burst right there. The bartender wasn't looking at me anymore; he was staring at a figure standing in the dim light of the doorway, a figure that looked just as broken and weary as I felt.

LILITH"Hey!" I paused, immediately wiping the tears that were threatening to roll down my cheeks."What do you still want, hasn't he humiliated me enough?" I turned around, my throat dry from the noiseless sobs I had been holding back."I have no idea what you may have done for him to be so mad, but I overheard you say something about Elowen and knowing what happened?" She said calmly, her voice a soft tone, different from what I expected."Please I don't want any issues." I said immediately, turning to leave."Please!" She yelled, causing me to stop in my tracks."Please, if you know where she is, just tell me." She pleaded, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper."I'm not sure where she's at but I can guess," I said calmly, feeling a bit better already because for the first time tonight, someone was actually looking at me like a human being instead of a piece of trash they wanted to sweep away.I started to walk towards the road, my fingers still gripping the book I had sto

RYAN "I'm coming!" I yelled, pulling myself off the ground as I headed for the door with a bottle of whisky tightly gripped between my fingers."Who is it anyway?" I asked, may voice laced with irritation, the insistent rings at the door starting to crawl up my nerves.I pulled the door and paused, my anger instantly replaced with confusion, my hands and my jaw lowered."Lilith?" I ran a scan of the environment. There was no one else in sight.Had she heard and come to mock me?"What do you want?" I asked, my voice so cold even I could feel the chill."Hi, Ryan." She said calmly, a look I never thought I'd see on Lilith's face: one of regret and brokenness. Is this a new sort of pretense?"Why are you here?" I asked, my voice was starting to show off my displeasure."Is Elowen here?" The words came at me like an attack I couldn't avoid, an attack I deserved but couldn't take."Isn't she supposed to be your sister?" I countered, folding my arms over my chest and leaning against the d

LILITH"Why would you do such a thing?" I asked, my pitch increasing as I took a step back from him."Why do you say it like it's so bad?" He shrugged, grabbing a bottle of beer next to me."I only spiked up his drink alittle." He continued, screwing off the cork of the bottle with his eyes glued to mine."You say it like you haven't done worse." He chugged the liquid content into his mouth as he took slow, deliberate steps towards me."What...what are you talking about?" I asked, my throat tightening, my grip on my purse increasing and causing my knuckles to go white as I desperately tried to swallow the lump in my throat."Oh save me that bull crap, Lilith," he chuckled, taking another step towards me and closing the gap between us until I could smell the scent of alcohol on his breath. He looked at me with a look so cold it made my skin crawl."Why are you acting so innocent all of a sudden?" he asked, tilting his head as he took another long swig of his beer. "You’re acting like

LILITHIt took a while to accept it but my mother was actually gone... And it was all because of me... No, because of Elowen. She caused all of this, if she hadn't stripped us of the power we had, mother wouldn't died.My mother would still be alive and breathing. It was all her fault... Owen's as well and I was going to make sure I took the two of them down with me.No matter how long it took and what it took, I was going to get them back."When can I have her body discharged?" I asked the man in a white coat behind me."Tomorrow, Mrs Hill." He replied, throwing me a small smile I despised so much."Please just call me Ms. Lilith," I corrected, the sound of Owen's name still dominating mine was digging a hole in my chest, a hole I was finding hard to get rid of, and I turned my back on the doctor to look at the cold, pale form of my mother one last time."I understand," the doctor said, his voice dropping to that soft, annoying tone people use when they think you’re about to break do

OWEN"Are you okay, sir?" The man in a black t-shirt that read "Security" asked, his eyes scanning my dirt covered shirt.I straightened my posture, dusting my shirt vigorously, a wide smirk plastered to my cheeks.àaVictory had never tasted so sweet, so satisfying, so... fulfilling. It was the first time since I lost Elowen and since my company started to crash that I felt like myself again. It was truly liberating, a feeling I couldn't get over."Sir?" He called out, waving a hand before me, causing me to stagger back a bit."Are you alright?" He asked with a calm voice but the concern etched to his face was already draining away."I'm fine," I answered absentmindedly as I headed for my car parked in the corner, but hadn't even taken three steps before the guard spoke up again, his voice sounding scratchy and annoying."Are you sure, Mr. Hill? Because you looked pretty shaken up back there with that other guy, and honestly, you don't look like you should be driving in that state," h
