"Mr. Eric Clapton, it'll be nice if you stop accusing me out of thin air from now.

We're divorced already, and I won't hesitate to get you arrested next time you try acting funny!" Liana threatened, her voice stern and indifferent.

"Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha. Bravo!" Eric clapped her in a mockery laughter.

"Wow! So this is the only reasonable thing you can think of doing with the compensation, huh? Just to be arresting people at slight provocations?

Oh, I get it. It's not entirely your fault though. That's basically how poor people reason whenever they perceive a little scent of riches." He smiled.

"Well, Let's see how this ends." Eric rumbled and walked towards the woman whose face was already twisting as she waited and watched him talk to his ex for long.

As he approached, the woman smiled and opened her arms widely to give him an embrace, but Eric averted the hug, leaving her arms hanging in the sky.

From afar, Liana almost bursted out with laughter at the sight of such embarrassment .

A faint smile spread across her lips.

Immediately, she pulled her hands over her mouth to keep her laughter from being loud.

'Wow. This is just the beginning, you home wrecker. Wait till I heal and return to destroy him for toying with my emotions!' Liana mumbled in silence.

For some reason, the woman deliberately took some steps behind Eric and walked up to Liana with a cocky smirk.

"Liana, Eric and I really love each other. Five years ago, we made the promise to stick to each other till death do us part, so I want you to stay clear of my man from now onwards. And if you have any problem with the divorce, pour it out on me and leave Eric out of this." She warned, but Liana chose to give deaf ears to her words.

A wave of frustration surged through the woman's face when she noticed that Liana was still not ready to engage in any conversation with her.

She still continued, at least, to provoke Liana before she'll be out of their lives.

"Well, it's not my fault that Eric chose to go for what his heart wants, neglecting his grandmother's wish. But thankfully, that old witch is dead already! Moreover, you don't blame me for your ugliness, right? At least three years is more than enough for any beautiful woman to get a man to love her!..." Before she finished, Liana raised her hand violently to give her a hot slap, but someone held her hands up from behind before it reached down to the woman's cheek.

It was Eric.

The woman standing before her quickly squealed and hurled behind him.

Liana laughed with an unbridled coldness.

"I haven't even touched you yet, and you're hiding already? Didn't you just mention that I should take out my anger on you rather than your husband?"

"Enough, Liana!" Eric sneered.

"I was the one who married you. And I'm still the one who asked you for a divorce. So, if you have any challenge with that, come to me directly, and not Maya. She's innocent in all this!"

'Wow! Innocent!' Liana reminisced on those words and suddenly bursted out into laughter.

Tears began to stream down the corners of her eyes as she fixed her gaze on Eric, she didn't know whether to be happy or sad.

"I've been your wife for three years, Eric, but I never knew you were this stupid until today!" She sneered.

What? Eric frowned slightly, his eyes turning red. 'Has she really developed some sharp mouth over night? Hasn't she always been timid and weak?' he thought.

"Let's not waste much of our time on this low profile woman, honey. Let's get going." Maya said meekly, locking her arms into Eric's.

While moving, Eric lowered his gaze at the silver Watch on his wrist, then paused and turned his gaze towards his ex wife.

"You have just an hour left to come and get your things out of the house."

Liana remained silent. Mixed emotions well up in her chest as she gazes at Eric walking another woman majestically to the car. This is something he had never done to her in three years of their marriage.

The only time she got to sit with him inside the same car was on their wedding night, when his grandmother threw a party for them at a friend's lounge.

'Oh, Liana. Thank God I demanded for this alimony to be increased! To think that Eric has moved on a long time before now, yet I was foolishly hoping that one day he might get to love me. Fuck! I just wish I could slap myself right now for wasting my time and affection on that ingrate!' She bit her upper lip as she stared at the certificate in her hands.

In a bit, she felt a wave of relief wash over her when she finally lost the title of 'Mrs. Clapton. At least, she can now live her life the way it pleases her, and no longer like some caged dog that doesn't have any value.

While still lost in thoughts on the next step to take, a man suddenly walked up to her.

"Hi. Is everything okay? You seemed worried for sometime now. Well, I'm Christian by name.” His voice was sharp. His perfectly contoured face with a steady and powerful heartbeat coming from his chest made Liana blush, forgetting that she just lost her marriage.

He glanced at the certificate in her hands, then, paused before continuing.

"Sorry for that. Trust me, just give it a little time and you'll be fine. Who knows, he might come back crawling for a second chance when it's already too late."

Liana was stunned at his kind gesture.

"Thank you. I ..." Before she could finish, a woman walked up to him and extended her hand towards him. "Let me have the card, please."

Christian smiled and pulled out a credit card from his pocket. "Five hundred thousand is all there." He said, handing over the credit card to her.

"Five hundred thousand?”

I said "one million, Christian!" The woman flared up.

Christian frowned slightly and pondered for a moment.

"But you know that the bride price is five hundred thousand. Why the sudden increase, Jane? This... isn't right." He argued.

"I decided to raise the price some minutes ago. I even texted you the update on W******p."

"If you can pay, then we'll proceed with the marriage. But if you can not, then there's no need to waste my time. After all, there are dozens of young men who are willing to pay up to two million just so I could be their wife. Or... Do you think that at forty five, you're still as appealing to women's eyes as those in their thirties?" The woman blurted out arrogantly.

"Fine. I...I'll try and gather some money to make it up to..."

"Fuck off! Christian. At nearly fifty and you don't have an ordinary million in your account? Why should I marry a broke ass like you? In fact, I'm calling off the wedding!" The lady barked, throwing the card abruptly at him.

Just some metres away from them, she locked arms with another man who had been watching the scene from afar, and walked with deliberate steps into the courtroom.

Back to the Black SUV car, Liana couldn't help but feel embarrassed. She took a deep breath and began to explain, "I'm sorry that you have to witness your colleague's new wife exchanging words on her wedding day. I'm not usually that fierce, but I just fade up with tolerating their excesses."The man chuckled. "You did nothing wrong ma'am. Evil people deserve to be treated even worse than that. In fact, if Mr. Christian were to be present to witness this, trust me, he'll even give you more support to fight back. I've always known him to be one who fights against women being bullied."Just then, his phone rang.It was Mr. Christian."What is keeping you guys for so long? "I've made up my mind, Liana. Let's get a divorce." Eric's cold voice sounded as he slammed the door after him, marching towards the large sofa.Liana stretched her hands lazily, gently pulling down the duvet as she sat up.Before she said anything, Eric got hold of an envelope from the side wall of his briefcase and put it down with a pen on the pillow beside her."You'll go with the sum of $90 million and the penthouse in Rochester as compensation for your emotional damage. Is that enough?"After hearing those words, Liana smiled bitterly. An oppressive chill came up her spine as she read through the divorce papers thrown at her, sobbing silently."Com'on. Don't play the victim here, Liana. You and I know that this union isn't supposed to last more than three years. Have you forgotten the clause behind my marriage to you? Well, in case you're still lost, you can take a quick glance at your calendar, you know...""It's fine, Eric." Liana cuts in before he'll continue. That last stat
