Davis’s Pov

My fingers hover just an inch away from the wooden door, my chest rising and falling as I wait for Rebecca to open it.

I didn't come down this hallway just to play games. Tonight, standing outside her door, I felt something shift deep inside my bones. For years, my life has been mapped out for me like a chess game—every move planned, every alliance signed, every expectation met.

But ever since Rebecca looked at me with those terrified, angry eyes at the gala, nothing has gone according to plan. She hates me with a passion that defies reason, yet my wolf refuses to settle down, clawing at my ribs every time she is near.

The lock clicks. The door swings open, and Rebecca stands there in the dim light of her room, her dark hair falling over her shoulders, her green eyes flashing with pure fire.

"What?" she snaps, her voice tight and trembling with exhaustion. "If this is another argument about the thermostat or the kitchen trash, I swear I will throw all your expensive clothes out the window."

"Calm down, frostbite," I say, keeping my voice smooth even though my heart is beating a little too fast. "This isn't about the trash. There is one very important rule we forgot to talk about before this arrangement becomes a total disaster."

Rebecca crosses her arms over her chest, glaring at me like I am a bug she wants to step on. "And what rule could possibly be important enough to wake me up at midnight?"

"No romantic partners allowed in the apartment," I say, meeting her gaze dead-on. "No overnight guests, no dates, no bringing people back here. We are already sharing a roof under false pretenses, and the last thing either of us needs is a parade of unwanted company cluttering up the living room."

Rebecca blinks, looking genuinely surprised for a second before her face hardens right back into a scowl. "Fine," she says quickly, not missing a beat. "Agreed. You won't have to worry about me bringing anyone here, because the absolute last thing I want in this life is any kind of romance."

A slow, irritating grin spreads across my face. I can't help it. She is just too easy to tease, and seeing her get so worked up makes my blood rush. "What's the matter, Rebecca?" I ask, leaning in a little closer, lowering my voice into a low, teasing hum. "Are you afraid you might accidentally fall for my irresistible charm? Is that why you're hiding behind all these walls?"

That does it. The color drains right out of her face, and her eyes flash with pure, unadulterated fury.

"Fall for you?" she spits out, her voice shaking with rage as she steps right up to my chest. "Listen to me very carefully, Davis Draven. I would rather date every single arrogant, obnoxious Alpha in this entire university—hell, I would rather date a rabid wolf—than ever, in a million years, touch you!"

"Ouch," I laugh, though the sound feels a little tight in my throat. "That hurts, Rivi."

"Don't call me that!" she hisses, trying to shove past me into the hallway to get away.

In her rush to escape, she misjudges the space, and her shoulder rams straight into mine.

It is just a simple bump. Nothing special. Nothing that should change the entire universe. But the exact second her skin presses against mine, a blinding shockwave rips through my body.

It is like lightning striking a dry forest. A violent, scorching jolt of pure electricity shoots from my shoulder straight down to my fingertips, setting every nerve ending in my body on fire. My breath catches violently in my throat. My vision blurs for a split second, and my wolf lets out a deafening, feral roar that shakes me to my core.

Rebecca gasps loudly, stumbling backward as if she has been physically punched. Her eyes go wide with absolute terror, and she clutches her arm where we touched, staring at me like I am a ghost.

"What... what was that?" she breathes, her voice a terrified whisper.

I can't answer. I can't even speak. My hand is burning where our skin brushed, and my wolf is howling a name it shouldn't even know, thrashing around inside my chest like a wild animal trying to break free. That wasn't a normal reaction. That wasn't just a spark of casual annoyance. That was... that was the unmistakable, terrifying jolt of a mate bond.

No, my mind screams, fighting back against the panic. That's impossible. My fated mate is supposed to be Harper. Everyone knows it. The elders planned it.

Before I can reach out, before I can grab her arm and demand to know what just happened between us, Rebecca panics.

"Stay away from me!" she shrieks.

She leaps backward, slams her bedroom door shut with a violent crash, and twists the lock so hard I can hear the metal mechanism strain.

I am left standing all alone in the dark, quiet hallway. My heart is pounding against my ribs heavily . I slowly lift my right hand, staring down at my palm in the dim light. The skin is still tingling, burning with a heat that won't go away. What is happening to me? Why would my wolf react like that to a woman who claims she hates my guts?

Before I can process the chaos in my head, a sharp, buzzing sound cuts through the silence of the apartment.

I freeze. I look down at my pocket.

The buzzing continues, rhythmic and demanding. With trembling fingers, I reach into my jacket and pull out my phone. The screen lights up the dark hallway with a bright, harsh white glow, displaying a name that makes my blood run instantly cold.

Harper Arquen.

My fated mate is calling me in the middle of the night.

I stare at the glowing screen, my chest tightening into a painful knot. Just an hour ago, seeing Harper's name would have felt normal, expected, part of the script I was born to follow. But now, with my skin still burning from Rebecca's touch, the sight of Harper's name makes my stomach twist with a sickening sense of dread.

The phone keeps vibrating against my palm, demanding an answer, while the memory of Rebecca's terrified green eyes burns behind my eyelids.

Rebecca’s POVAevrion’s warning followed me all the way to the Browns estate. He had refused to explain everything over the phone, insisting that we needed to speak face-to-face. But the fear in his voice had already told me this was serious.Someone had approached my brother about the old records. And whoever it was knew I might start asking questions.Davis sat beside me in the car, quiet for most of the journey. He hadn’t tried to take control of the situation or tell me what I should do. He had simply offered to come with me while Harper stayed behind to search for the original sender of the message.I appreciated that, even if I wasn’t ready to trust him completely.“You’ve been quiet,” Davis said.“I’m thinking.”“About what your brother found?”“About how many people have been keeping secrets from me.”He turned toward me. “I’m sorry.”I looked at him. “For what?”“For being part of a family that seems to have made decisions about your life without telling you the truth.”His a

  • Again His Luna   THE MESSAGE FROM HER PACK.

Rebecca’s POVI stared at the message on Harper’s phone, reading it twice before I could accept what it said.Do not let Rebecca return to the Browns estate alone. Someone has started moving against her.My fingers tightened around the phone.“When did you receive this?” I asked.“Shortly before you died.”I looked up at Harper. “And you never told me?”“I tried to reach you, Rebecca.”“That isn’t what I asked.”Harper lowered her eyes.I looked at the message again. There was no name attached to it, no number I could trace, and no explanation of who was supposedly moving against me.“Who sent this?”“I don’t know. The original account was deleted, and I couldn’t recover the information attached to it.”“But you kept the message?”“Yes. I saved a copy before the account disappeared.”I handed the phone back to her.“Did you try to find the sender?”“After you died. I followed every lead I could find, but the trail ended before I could identify the person.”My stomach twisted. In my fi

  • Again His Luna   The Death He Remembers.

Rebecca’s POVI went completely still.Davis had not said he dreamed of me dying. He had not said he imagined losing me.He had said he remembered it.I stared into his eyes, and the fear I saw there made my chest tighten. For weeks, I had convinced myself that my memories belonged to a future I could change. But Davis was describing something he had never experienced in this life. Was my second chance no longer mine alone?“Davis,” Harper said, stepping closer to him. “What did you see?”He barely seemed to hear her. His eyes remained on me, as if he was waiting for me to tell him something I couldn’t say.“Tell me exactly what you remember,” I said.Davis swallowed. “Fragments. A wedding. You and me arguing. You were crying, and I knew I had done something wrong.”My fingers curled against my palms. He continued, his voice growing quieter. “I couldn’t understand what was happening. I kept trying to reach you, but you looked at me as if you hated me.”I looked away before he could re

  • Again His Luna   HIS FATHER’S SECRET.

Davis’s POV For several seconds, I stared at my phone. My father hadn’t asked what the report contained or whether the claims were true. He had gone straight to warning me against taking it to the council. That alone told me he knew more than he was willing to admit. Rebecca stood across the table, clutching the report against her chest. Her eyes moved from my phone to my face as I ended the call. “Davis, what did he say?” “He wants me at the Draven estate.” “Did he explain why he kept the investigation secret?” “No.” I slipped my phone into my pocket. “He refused to discuss it over the phone.” Rebecca let out a humorless laugh. “Of course. Your family keeps secrets, and we’re expected to show up whenever they call.” “I didn’t say I was going.” Her eyebrows lifted slightly. I pulled out the chair beside her and sat down. “I’m not going anywhere without you.” She studied me as if she were waiting for me to change my mind. “My father asked me to come alone,” I continued. “I

  • Again His Luna   The Warning They Buried.

Rebecca’s POVI stared at the folded document on the table, unable to ignore the pressure building in my chest.Only minutes ago, Harper had admitted that the story I remembered from my first life was incomplete. Now, she expected me to believe that a piece of paper could explain why Davis had chosen me, why our marriage had fallen apart, and why I had died believing I was nothing more than a convenient alliance.Davis reached for the document, but I placed my hand over it.“Let me read it first,” I said. His eyes moved from my hand to my face. “Rebecca, I only want to see what it says.”“I know. But I spent my entire marriage being the last person to understand what was happening around me. I won’t do that again.”Davis went quiet. Then he pulled his hand back.“Fine. Read it first.”There was no argument, no attempt to take control. He simply moved closer so he could see the document when I opened it.For some reason, that small act unsettled me more than if he had argued.I unfolde

  • Again His Luna   HARPER’S WARNING.

Rebecca’s POVI followed Davis into the living room just as someone opened the apartment door.Harper Arquen stepped inside. For a moment, I forgot what I was doing. The sight of her brought back the last hours of my first life, when her cruel words had made me believe that my marriage to Davis had been nothing but a business arrangement. She looked as elegant as I remembered, wearing a fitted black dress with her hair falling neatly over her shoulders.Davis stopped beside the sofa. “Harper? What are you doing here?”“I need to speak with Rebecca.”His eyebrows drew together. “You came all this way to speak with my roommate?”“The matter concerns her.” Harper glanced at me. “I’ll explain everything to you afterward.”I folded my arms. “You can explain it now. I don’t see why you need to speak to me privately.”Harper studied me for a moment before nodding. “Fine. Davis can stay nearby, but I would prefer to speak with you first.”I didn’t like the way she was avoiding his questions,
