CHAPTER 5: BLYTHE

"MI AMOR"

THE DEAFENING silence that's been roaring between the newlyweds since they went home from the hospital is starting to make Blythe crazy, as well as the anger, breaking over Zandro's face earlier was enough cue that he's mad about what she has done. Truly that what she did is a violation of their agreement, and violation means punishment or chastise. Blythe would understand it but as to what Attorney Vizmanos was doing— he was just calmly walking ahead of her, both hands were resting inside his pocket and his head was up as if he was boasting over someone.

Doesn't he care about what Blythe has done? Was it alright for him that Blythe violated his rule?

If so, what were the rules for?

"Attorney," she called out after an audible sigh. Her chest can't hold it back anymore. "I'm so sorry for what I've done, I never really planned to violate your rule but I just can't help it. I'm really dying to see my mother—"

"I understand," he interjected in the middle of her apology. Zandro never bothered turning his head for her, but he stopped taking another step. "We have that word 'first trial' and I'm not that heartless to deprive you of that. As they say, nobody's perfect."

That lightened her chest for a bit, his silence was somehow explained... According to Blythe's vocabulary, when someone is furious but they won't speak a word, he or she probably can't find the right way to release it aside from keeping it to himself or herself.

Good thing that attorney Zandro doesn't seem as mad as she imagined.

"But I'm also telling you that my house isn't like your university where you could just cut class whenever you want to, I didn't come up with my rules just to be violated..." Authoritative as they say, his deep baritone voice alone can make someone shiver plus that ruthless stare that used to arrest her heart. "In the field where I am working, dangers were like monsters lurking around for their chance to get me and kill. There are plenty of them that I don't have a single idea of which is which, and I can't control their minds to find out when they are planning to attack or who they are planning to attack."

Slowly, he turned his body towards her, and just like the old times, Blythe only shivered with the way he looked at her... t'was mysteriously dark and ice cold!

"Just to remind you, Blythe. You are part of my life now, so you should expect more dangers and threats to come along our way..." There was something in his eyes as he looked at her. "That's why I'm keeping you out of their sight. But if you will continue being careless and impulsive towards your decisions, then I don't think you would finish the contract. . .alive."

Damn! A stream of profanities showered her mind, this is what she's talking about! This ruthless man in front of her is one hell of a great lawyer, he's at the pinnacle of his career and when you are at that surely many will envy you and will try to bring you down. Especially in Attorney Vizmanos's case wherein most of the criminals he's fighting were giants, those who can really hurt and kill.

And Zandro was very right about what he said, the enemies might hurt her too if she wasn't wary enough...

As the two headed inside the grand living room, Blythe didn't miss how every house servant around them stopped from moving just to bow their heads. None of them dared to lift a head and look over her husband's set of pretty hazel eyes.

Should she do that as well? It was never stated in their contract though, but if this is the proper way to act in his face, then it shall be followed.

"Señorito," a voice said from behind.

Both of them stop walking just to face the man named Valentino who's also bending down in front of them, he stayed that way until Zandro finally told him to rise.

"He's here, señorito," he said as he presented the wide foyer where there are two men in their black uniforms standing while pulling the driver who brought her to the hospital earlier.

"Please, no... Have mercy on me," Luiz kept on begging but the two men holding him were pretty much like their boss— they are like stones. "Señorito, please forgive me!"

But what causes more sudden fear in his chest is when Valentino throws a punch in his stomach without looking at the poor man. That's too much!

"Stop raising your voice to him, bastard!" he said, scolding the guy in his strident voice. "My apology for that, señorito. This guy right here is a newly hired driver, he was enlightened of the rules but he still broke them."

Zandro watches him crying without anything on his face, he never moves or blinks. And as if he couldn't hear any pleading at all, he simply shoved his hands into his pocket as he turned his back to the poor guy.

"If that's the case, then I'm sure he's aware of the punishment as well. Go and do what he deserves, Val."

"Of course, señorito..."

A scream like a foghorn echoed in every space of the house when his men pulled the driver away. The scene is making her anxious, she wants to run after those men to stop them but they would not listen to her for sure. So, instead, she chose to follow Attorney Zandro to talk to him.

"What is it, Mi Esposa?" he asked with furrowed brows when Blythe blocked his way towards the grandiose staircase.

What he just said stiffened her for a brief moment. Blythe isn't that fluent in speaking Spanish language but one of her minor subjects in college required them to at least research about the country before and that includes their language. According to her little knowledge, Attorney Zandro called her "my wife", did he?

"Is anything bothering you?" he asked further.

Despite her surprise, Blythe pushed herself to speak for the young boy she just pushed into danger. Just like the first time, his breathtaking hazel eyes can still intimidate her but she fights it really hard. Blythe built her confidence together with her voice.

"I-it's L-luiz..."

"Luiz?"

"Yes, the driver." She even pointed outside where they have brought him.

It's a cue that he got it when Zandro eventually nodded, but he shut his eyes as if their conversation is irritating him now. The view of his bow-like-red lips makes swallowing her own saliva hard like there's a lump on it. What the hell is she thinking now?

Disbelief crossed his eyes. "You are calling him on a first-name basis, yet you can't call your husband by his name? Should we make another rule about that, Mi Esposa?"

Disbelief froze Blythe that it left her staring into his handsome face for a little while, it bewitches her like a witch cast a spell on her and her thoughts fled away, including her reason for calling him.

"What do you want me to call you?" she asked shyly, it scares her to look into his eyes. "I'm not used to these things, I'm sorry"

"It's how..." he corrected her.

Blythe lifted her eyes in shock. "What do you mean how?"

"Mi Amor..." he said without leaving her eyes. "More sweetly and realistically. Can you call me that, Mi Esposa?"

The intensity of his stairs built a lump in her throat making it hard for her to swallow. Multiple times, she tried to open her mouth but it gave her chills calling him that way.

"M-mi A-amor, "it came out broken.

"Say it again. Clearer this time, would you?"

"Mi Amor," she repeated, getting smoother than the first one. "Mi Amor."

A smirk flashed from his lips. "Great! Now, train your tongue to call me that way. I don't want other people to find my wife weird because she's too formal with her husband... And sooner, the judge I was talking about will have his vacation in my house. I don't want him to build any doubt about my relationship with you…"
