Don't think of running

Kimberly walked into Josh's room beaming all smiles.

"Geez Kim, ever heard of knocking?" Josh snapped holding tightly onto the towel wrapped around his waist.

"Really? What are you hiding? Aren't you my little boy anymore?" She teased.

"I stopped being your little boy years ago, I'm a grown young man now so please, knock before you enter my room," he replied. "What are you doing here anyway?"

Kim chuckled and walked closer towards him.

"Are you saying I can't check on my brother anymore?" She teased.

"Kim what do you want for goodness sake?" Josh breathed out in frustration. "Wait! You said you had a something for me."

Kim finally pulled out her hand from her back, and dropped a bundle of money on his bed.

Josh gasped in shock. "Holy shit,"

"This is gonna be enough to clear up your bills both at school and around," Kimberly said.

"First off, where did you see such amount of money from? Kimberly what did you do?" Josh scolded.

Sometimes he acts like the older brother,  and he calls her full name whenever he's serious about something.

"I uhm... I took a loan, you don't have to worry, I did nothing illegal," Kim replied.

"You took a loan? How do you plan on paying back? "

"You don't have to worry about that, just make sure you clear your bills okay?"

Josh breathed out in frustration, picking the money up from the bed.

"This is huge Kim, I'm not comfortable really, can you at least tell me where you took the loan from?" He muttered.

"Uhm... Work...yeah work, I got a new job, the pay is really nice," Kim stuttered.

Kim couldn't help but applaud herself inwardly for making up such convincing lie in a second.

"A new job?" Josh muttered staring intently at her. "Kim, if I find out that you involved yourself in any shady business and you are lying to me, I'm really going to be mad at you, for real,"

"I'm not lying Josh, why would I?"

Though she always found it hard lying to Josh, but in this case, she didn't have a choice, her only wish was for him to fall for the lies, she knew Josh always has a way of knowing when she's telling lies.

Surprisingly he walked closer to her and pulled her into a tight hug.

"Thank you Kim, thank you so much."

They broke the hug and he flashed her a grateful smile.

"Since it's weekend, how about you come with mom and I to the hospital?" She asked.

"Of course, why not? I'm..." He suddenly paused and stared at her. "You have the money for her treatment too?"

"Enough of the questions already man, get dressed and let's bounce," Kimberly retorted and hurried out of the room before he discovers her secret.

*Doctor's office*

"This won't be enough, but treatment will commence immediately, we will be expecting the full payment in a month, or the treatments will drop," the doctor stated.

"Please sir, the treatment don't have to drop, I will provide the complete payment before the month runs out," Kim replied.

"Alright then,"

they stood up, shook hands with him and left.

*Their mother's ward*

"I'm so excited, I can't wait for you to get well mom," Josh squealed.

"I know right? I personally can't wait to see you on your feet mom," Kim added.

"Kim dear, in as much as I'm happy, I can't help but wonder how you raised such huge amount," Mrs Anderson mumbled weakly.

"You don't have to worry about that mom, she got a new job, the pay is nice," Josh quickly butted in smiling sweetly at her. "She also cleared out my school bills."

Kim returned the smile, though uneasily, she felt bad for lying to them.

"I'm really sorry for everything we are making you go through Kim, I promise to get a job once I get better and relieve you of this heavy burden," Mrs Anderson said close to tears.

"Common mom, you don't have to worry about me, I'm happy if you are happy, just be strong for us and pull through this treatment okay? Josh and I can't wait to have you back strong and healthy," Kim replied and she nodded laying back on the bed.

After spending much time with her, they went home to freshen up and return.

*

As they stood waiting for a cab, two black flashy cars with tinted glasses pulled up a bit far from them.

The second car drove down closer to them, the door opened and a hefty man on an all black outfit walked up to them.

"Come with me," he said staring at Kimberly with a hard face.

"And why would she do that?" Josh said stepping in front of Kimberly, and glared  back at him

"Watch it little boy," he retorted.

"No you need to watch it, you can't walk up to us and demand that my sister follows you, do we know you from anywhere?" Josh half yelled and folded his shirt's sleeve getting ready to fight him.

"Josh that's enough," Kim quickly stepped out of his back.

She knew what she did and who they were.

"He works for my boss, I think he wants to see me," she lied giving the hefty guy signal to keep mute.

He rolled his eyes and looked away.

"But you said your boss was nice? How come he employs rude people?" Josh continued nagging.

The first car ahead of them reversed back, the glass slowly went down revealing the man Kimberly dreaded to see.

"What's going on?" He asked.

"Kim, is he your boss?" Josh asked and Kimberly nodded slowly.

"Woah, he is hot as hell," he muttered. "Hello sir."

"What's good boy, Kimberly get into the car," his voice came out a bit calm though the grumpiness could still be spotted.

Kimberly felt a wave of fear sweep over her as he mentioned her name, she wondered how he got to know her name and even where to find her.

"Kimberly what where you expecting when you stole from someone this dangerous," her subconsciousness whispered.

She brightened up and turned towards Josh.

"I have to go now Josh, duty calls, I will meet you at home, then we can go to the hospital together," she said.

"Cool, take care of yourself alright?" He replied and started walking away. "See you some other time Mr handsome." He shouted.

She made sure he's gone far before climbing into the car.

"I'm s..."

He suddenly grabbed her by the neck and pinned her to the car seat.

"Your guts young lady, to steal from me, how dare you," he roared squeezing her neck tighter till she couldn't breathe anymore.

Kimberly was loosing her breathe, her eyes slowly started rolling to the back, she was dying but he cared less.

He watched her gasp for breathe to his satisfaction before releasing her, kimberly coughed out furiously.

"You thought I wouldn't notice? How dumb."

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to do it but I had no choice, my mom...

"Enough!" He cut her off angrily. "You will pay back every single dime you stole from me."

"I will, I promise, Just give me some time please," she pleaded.

"I don't have time and certainly you can't pay me back even if I give you a whole year or two, but there are other ways we can go about that," he smirked. "Since you can't pay me what you owe me, I own your life, all of you," he added.

Kimberly's mouth flew open in shock.

"What?"

"Meet me at the club in an hour, same room," he said moving away from her and fixed his dark glasses back. "And a kind reminder, don't even think of running, it will be pointless, I have eyes on Josh and your mother in the hospital, don't dare."

Kimberly cringed at the sound of his voice as he spoke, she knew he meant every single word he said, she was in for a big problem.

She had initially wanted to run from him but too bad, he already calculated her moves, and worse, he knows about her brother and obviously his whereabouts, he also knew about her mother in the hospital, he was right, it will be really pointless running.

"Leave!" His voice snapped her back to life.

Kimberly nodded frantically opening the door and fled out.
