Chapter 8

"What are you doing in my car?" The baritone voice snapped me out of my shock.

My eyes blinked a few times. My mouth opened and closed, and I had no idea what to say.

I turned away when I saw Ace's men moving in the distance. They were heading towards this car.

"Please, let me hide here," I begged him as I cupped my palms together.

He remained silent for a moment.

"What's in it for me to help you?" he asked.

I glanced away, making sure Ace's men had yet to catch wind of my presence.

"Maybe there's nothing in it for you, but you may save my life," I replied.

"Give me a reason so I don't think that you're a crime syndicate in action," he ordered, still not believing me.

"Don't you see my clothes? I'm a maid at Alpha Ace Cassilas' mansion. I ran away because I couldn't stand his cruelty." I turned outside for a moment. "Please! They'll catch me and take me back to Alpha Ace," I begged.

"Do you know who I am?" he asked.

"Sorry, but... no," I answered honestly. It didn't matter who he was.
