Chapter 81

Arthur’s POV

“No, you are not going there alone.” Ainsley objects.

“It’s not for you to decide. You have to stay here and watch the pack, since Oliver is not strong enough, yet. And Jayden needs you here.” I explained to her.

“They can manage on their own, Arthur. I’m not leaving you to go fight this battle on your own.”

Ainsley still doesn't move out of the way. She stands still and boldly, in front of my car.

I move out of the car and walk to her.

“Ainsley.” I take her hand an

Chapter 100Arthur’s POVStanding on the balcony of my room, I embrace the sweet, warm feeling of the sun on my skin. “This is quite relaxing.” My wolf compliments. He’s been more open and interactive these past few days. I drink the hot coffee from my cup and let the hot steam flow down my throat, it’s a sweet feeling I find weird too. “Yo.” Kylian walks from behind me and snatches my coffee. “Do you ever knock?” “Why will I do that?” “To check if I’m awake, or naked?”He furrows his brow and keeps drinking my coffee. “You’re up early.” He says. “Yeah. It’s becoming a habit.” Sometimes I would wake up as early as four in the morning. “Or you still don’t trust quiet.” I smile at him. He knows me very well. “It's something I’m trying to adapt to. Some days are fast, other days are not.” I look ahead of us from the balcony, and I see Oliver, Jayden, and Ainsley putting every wolf to work. Jayden’s voice carries across the yard as he corrects a patrol formation. Oliver sta

Chapter 99 Arthur’s POVThe crowd is still looking around like they aren’t convinced enough to believe me. They are murmuring amongst themselves, throwing confused gazes at me. I’m beginning to feel uncomfortable with it but I don’t want to say anything out of place. As if Kylian noticed my discomfort, he stepped up. “We move forward together. As one. Anyone who wants to keep tearing the pack from inside out should step forward now.” No one comes forward. “If you’re doubting your Alpha’s method of ruling, step forward now.” No one still comes out. They all stood where they were. My gaze shifts in the crowd when it catches Mrs Mateo standing in the corner. She’s quiet and not standing up to say anything. I guess she must have learnt her lesson. “Good. Now that that is out of the way, patrol teams, you do as you’re told. Nothing more, nothing less or you face the consequences.” The discussion ends, everyone starts to leave the hall one by one. They are not fully convinced o

  • Alpha Arthur   Can we still trust your command?

Chapter 98 Arthur’s POVThe first real fracture shows up at dawn.I was already in the war room when Jayden entered with a report from the border patrol. “There is a huge disagreement between the patrol teams, Alpha.” He says. The border dispute has broken out on the eastern line between two patrol teams, one from my original pack bloodline, the other from the pack absorbed after the merger. “No one is seriously hurt, but the argument has turned physical, and both sides are demanding judgment.” He kept talking. I’m listening, of course, I don’t pay attention to the patrol team in particular. If they are fighting, I’m sure that pack members feel the unresting tension is spreading inside the pack too.Oliver follows Jayden in and shuts the door. “They’re not just angry about the patrol, they’re using it. The secrecy around the man you brought in and sent away is feeding everything. Some of the ranking wolves are saying, if you can hide that, what else are you hiding?”I don’t repl

  • Alpha Arthur   Stop apologizing

Chapter 97 Arthur’s POVI should have known that if anyone would spread the news about my father, it wouldn’t be the patrol team. It would have to be Mrs Mateo. Because when it comes to her hearing and talking about what doesn't concern her, she’s number one in that. She walks up to us, where we are standing. “There you are,” she says. “Not now.” Ainsley tries to push her away from us, but I hold her arm to stop her. “What do you want? Mrs Mateo.” I ask her. She coughs, clearing her throat. “I think the pack deserves better than secrets.”I put my hands in my pockets and looked at her properly. “You had no right.”Mrs. Mateo lifts her chin. “I had every right. My daughter has been living among you people. If there is a stranger with unknown ties walking these grounds, the rest of us should not be left blind.”Ainsley steps forward. “Mother, stop.”“No, I won’t stop. First the violence, then the funerals, then this? A man appears, disappears, and the Alpha’s son expects silence?

Chapter 96Arthur’s POV I made the decision before dawn.I can’t even sleep, I just stood at the window of the upper corridor for hours, replaying every ordinary expression on my father’s face. Every human gesture, every moment that proves how completely the man has been cut away from what he was meant to be. By the time the sky begins to pale, I have already chosen to send him back, away from my pack and everyone I love. Kylian and Oliver were waiting in the war room when I entered. “You’ve decided something,” Kylian says.I rolled my eyes at him and closed the door behind me. “He’s leaving.”“I knew it.” Kylian snaps at me, then looks out the window. Oliver’s eyes narrowed. “Your father?”“Yes. He’s leaving the pack today. To the life he remembers. The human one.”Kylian furrows his brow at me. “No.”I snap my head at Kylian, piercing him with my furious gaze without flinching. “This is not a discussion.”“Like hell it isn’t,” Kylian says, stepping away from the window. “You

  • Alpha Arthur   A bit out of the ordinary

Chapter 95 Arthur’s POVI know I erased his memory, all of it. But why is he so…“This is creepy, man,” Oliver says. “Tell me something I don’t know,” I answered, sarcastically. I don’t see him as my father or someone I’ve known before, he’s a stranger to me now. “You must be the one in charge, right?” He points at me, asking me. “I’ve done nothing wrong, I was just hiking. I was just passing by when your people, I suppose, lunged at me and accused me of intruding.”This is disturbing. First, he’s behaving so innocently and weirdly. Secondly, he’s hiking? Really. “He’s just putting on an act,” Oliver says through the mindlink. “Are you saying I didn’t erase all of his memories?” I ask him. “Don’t put words in my mouth, Arthur. You are as shocked as I am. Don’t you think maybe you might have left a tiny bit of his memory?” I growl at Oliver. This isn’t the time to make jokes. What am I supposed to do with him? Like this? “Is something wrong? Might I have done something wron
