The Simple Truth

EMILY'S POV

With a broad smile on my face, I snuck back into the compound, bribing Mrs. Fabian—the only security personnel who caught me sneaking in —with my cold donuts. Then, with her assitance, I climbed up the terrace and worked my way to my room's window.

My bedroom lights were out which was quite relieving, so I got in quietly and was about saying a 'thank God' when the lights suddenly switched on and I turned around to see my elder sister, Jennifer.

She was seated on my wisker chair with my phone on her lap.

Her face was reddened with fury and her eyes glared in anger.

"I can explain," I said sheepishly.

Her angry eyes shifted from me and to the doorway. "I'm pretty sure Mum and Dad would be more than pleased to hear everything you have to say."

"Just..." I began but was cut short as Jennifer rose from the chair, gave me one last dirty look before walking out.
