Mia's POV

“I’m going to send you to be a camp whore.” Luna Helena’s icy voice came from above me.

My hand was propping up a chair leg. Luna Helena stood on the chair, adjusting a painting.

Her words made me flinch, causing the chair to wobble. Luna Helena almost fell.

“Steady, you idiot!” she snapped. “Are you trying to break my neck?”

The chair was crushing my hand, but I didn’t dare to make a sound.

She spent a few more moments adjusting the painting before stepping down from the chair and off my hand with a satisfied hum.

Blood drippled down from my hand. I quickly hid my hand behind my back and wiped the blood on my apron.

Luna Helena would get mad if she saw the blood.

Making Luna mad... was terrifying.

“Where was I? Oh, right, the camp whore.” Luna Helena walked over to the sofa, sat down, and crossed her legs.

“Tomorrow Alpha Draven will arrive at our pack. He is travelling from pack to pack to select his future Luna. Our pack is the next. It is a huge event for the whole family. Watch yourself around the noble guests, you hear me?! After your sister is married, you’re not staying here. Pack your things and go to the border. The soldiers have been waiting a long time for some relief.”

She said it like she was sending me off to school, not to be fucked by hundreds of men.

My voice was trembling, “...But why...?”

“WHY?!” Luna Helena slammed the table, her voice sharp and piercing. “You dare to ask why?! You’ve been freeloading off our family for long enough! Your whore mother abandoned you. Who raised you for 18 years? Now you’re grown, and I want you to do something for the family. Do I need a reason?!”

I hung my head, shaking with fear.

This was my sin.

My mother was a prostitute. She seduced my Alpha father, making him cheat on Luna Helena. After I was born, mom left me on the doorstep and went missing.

My existence was proof of my father’s infidelity.

Everyone in the Dark Fang Pack hated me.

“...Luna Helena,” I said through tears, mustering my courage, “you don’t have to worry. After my sister gets married, I won’t stay here. I already have a boyfriend. If you and Alpha agree, we can get married anytime, and I’ll move out forever...”

Forever away this dark hell.

But Helena sneered, “Did I raise you just so you could happily get married and have children?”

My heart sank.

“I don’t care if you have a boyfriend!” she said coldly. “The border is unstable lately. Soldiers are rebelling. Sending you there might calm them down and solve a big problem for me and your father. What good does your marriage do for us? I’d have to pay for your wedding!”

Tears streamed down my face and dropped on the back of my hand, stinging the wound.

I wanted to tell her I didn’t need her to pay for the wedding.

Marcus and I loved each other deeply. Even without money, we could marry anytime.

But Luna Helena didn’t give me a chance to speak.

“What are you still doing here? FUCK OFF!” she yelled. “Alpha Draven will arrive at anytime. I can’t have our noble guest see a rat like you around here! Get lost before I slap you!”

I stumbled out of the room.

On the way, I passed many maids and servants. They all saw my tear-streaked face but no one stopped to ask what had happened. They just looked at me with gloating eyes.

I was the whore’s daughter. The pack’s target.

Seeing me cry made them happy.

The only person in the Dark Fang Pack who truly cared about me... was my Marcus.

Marcus was only a low-ranking soldier, but he had the purest, kindest soul.

I had to tell him about Luna Helena’s decision. Maybe he could take me away, and I could escape the fate of being a camp whore.

Marcus lived in the packhouse. I had a key to his room. So, when I reached his door, I went straight in.

There were two people on Marcus’s bed, their naked bodies entwined.

Marcus was shirtless, his pants down to his knees, and he was rocking his butt passionately. Under him was a beautiful woman, her legs wrapped around his waist, moaning in a loud voice.

They were having sex.

My boyfriend Marcus and my sister Veronica, Luna Helena’s daughter, were having sex.

I stood frozen, too stunned to speak anything.

Marcus saw me first. He quickly pulled out of her and covered himself with a sheet.

“Mia?!” he gasped.

Veronica lay back, still breathing heavily.

She glanced at me, then giggled. “Mia, what are you doing here? Changing our sheets?”

I trembled, looking at her.

Fear of Veronica and Luna Helena was in my genes, so I murmured, “...Yes.”

“Then what are you standing there for?” Veronica smiled. “Get these dirty sheets away. Hurry.”

Biting my lip, I stepped closer. The strong smell of sex suffocated me. I crouched by the bed, tears streaming as I pulled at the sheet.

Veronica suddenly burst into laughter.

“Oh fucking hell!” she laughed, pounding the bed so hard that it shook. “Isn’t Marcus your boyfriend? You just saw us having sex and are still going to change our sheets? You are even a bigger wuss than I thought! No wonder no man loves you!”
