Chapter 52

AVA's POV:

I was just about to crawl into bed when the booming sound of thunder made me jump out of my skin.

My whole body shook with fear as I jumped from the bed, whipping my head here and there frantically in search of for a place to give me sanctuary.

My breathing becomes harsher as each crack of thunder splits the air with a vengeance, echoing through the room and making my stomach drop and my gut twist painfully.

I have no idea why I'm in so much pain, but there's no time to think about that now.

Unable to calm my racing heart, I dashed across the room, grabbed the door knob and sprinted out of there, searching for a better place to hide.

I hurried to the first room I could find. The door was left slightly ajar, so I slipped in easily and practically threw myself inside before closing the door behind me with a loud bang.
