Alpha In The Mountain

CHAPTER ONE

FELICITY'S POV

"Okay, so you'll will take some questions that you need to answer. I'm gonna start with you, Ms. Sy," Boss Jan declared. It was a question made for everyone, which is needed to join the hiking project for our company. "What are the things needed for a creative and successful project when it comes to your own strategy?" 

I sighed and took a deep breath. Trembling, i answered. "The t-things needed are creative mind, huge and lots of ideas and e-especially...your aspiring mind and inspiration to make a creative and successful project." 

Boss Jan smiled as if it was the most aesthetic sentence he heard. I took again a deep breath and let out a silent sigh. 

"Well, that's a good answer Ms.Sy, fortunately you're going to be a part of this Discovery Hiking project of ours." He said. My co-workers and officers smile and congratulate me besides Mariel. 

Mariel is my worst enemy inside this company, she is always making things to prove that she's more worthy to become a manager. But i don't compete with her.

Boss Jan looked at all of us and said, "I will be choosing another five person to join this campaign. It starts with...Mr. Achilles Germo. The others will be Mr. Jonathan Ling, Ms. Mariel Casungsong, Ms. Hannah Abienda and of course...myself," we're shocked of what we heard. Boss Jan is not that adventurous person. "Yes, you heard me right. I will be joining this team for work purposes only." 

Out of blue, i asked, "Boss Jan, what's the thing that made you join this campaign? I'm sure there's a reason why did you join." 

Everyone looked at me. And it's late to realize what i have asked.

"Are you questioning my work, Ms. Sy? Or do you really mean that question?" Boss asked. My lips were trembling as if that question hits me hard. "N-No sir, i didn't mean to ask you." I shyly answered.

I can feel that all of my blood was making it's way up to my face because of shame. 

"Well...that isn't necessary," Boss Jan sighed. "So, we will start this campaign tomorrow night. Exactly 8 pm, we are going to Mt. Evergloom and make some feedbacks about the place and more things. Thank you for your time, everyone." 

"But one more thing…" Boss added. "You Ms. Sy, will stay here for some questions and tasks, you all can go." 

When all of them are gone, Mariel stood for a few seconds on the doorway and smirked with those eyes telling 'you're dead now, Felicity.' then left.

"B-Boss Jan." i called him.

He turn his head to me and smirked, "Are you scared, Felicity?" 

I nodded and gulped. I'm not comfortable with this man, his eyes looks like he's going to eat me! 

"Don't worry, you don't have to be scared. I just needed you to answer my question," i listened at him. "Why did you ask me before, what is the thing that made me join the campaign?" 

I gulped. Now he's really serious and i'm afraid about it. "N-Nothing sir." I answered.

I can feel the intensity of his looks at me.

"Okay, you may go." Boss Jan said.

I walked out of that place with trembling knees and face. And then i saw Mariel, glaring at me.

"What's your problem, Mariel?" I asked her.

She just stared at me then left. It's a little weird, she's not that before. Maybe, something is up.

I left the company and i'm on my way back home. It's three in the afternoon and i need to head back to prepare dinner on my own. 

I could have buy some cooked meals or eat outside at fast food chains but i'm not that type of person. I usually cook my own meals. I just buy some ingredients at the market and put them on the freezer so they will remain fresh.

I entered my car and start to drive. My eyes are on the road when my phone rang. "Hello?" i answered the call.

"Yes this is Felicity Sy, how can i help you?" I answered the caller. It seems like it was one of our clients and i'm just the employee they knew.

"Okay, sure ma'am. Bye." I ended the call.

I parked at my car at the garage and went inside of my home. I put my bag at the center table and left my shoes in the shoe stall. I reached the freezer and handed myself a yogurt. This is my daiy routine.

Wake up. Work. Go home. 

The cycle continuous. After eating the yogurt i prepared cube cut of carrots, some green peas and a powder seasoning. I'm going to prepare some chicken curry for myself. I also mashed some boiled potatoes and made some gravy. 

On thirty minutes of cooking, the curry was prepared and the mashed potato was warm. It's time for my dinner. 

I also poured some grape wine and cherish the taste. This is going to be a good evening.

After eating my dinner, i'm preparing for sleeping. I took a half bath and do my facial routine. I wore my pajamas and stare at the window for a minute.

I see stars. A night full of stars, a night that has a bright full moon. A beautiful nightsky scenery before sleeping. I grab my phone and took a photo of the nightsky. This was a best night.

I smiled and turn off my lamp and get ready to bed. Before sleeping, i took my phone and looked at the photo i shot. I find the photo...weird but beautiful.

The photo contains a moon with a...howling wolf? I scratch my eyes to see it once again and the howling wolf was gone. All i can see is a beautiful and bright moon, nothing else. 

Weird, i thought to myself. Closing my phone, i closed my eyes too and sleep. What's wrong with my phone?
