Max, then makes his way back to me and I can’t help but put myself as close to the wall as I can because before today, he never looked my way or said two words to me other than a polite hello. But I think that is only because he is going to be Alpha one day and he makes it known that he is going to be a good alpha and that he likes to make sure his pack is going to be well taken care of and that if anyone has a problem, he wants them to come to him no matter what.

“Please stand-up Jo.”

When I stand up again, he looks me in the eye, and I have a hard time wanting to keep eye contact with him and I keep looking back and forth between him and the floor.

“Josie, are you going to tell me what’s going on or am I going to have to do some digging of my own to find out why you have red marks on your chin.”
