Because the man invited her to sleep with him, she took extra steps to pretty herself up, but in the end, he betrayed her hopes by deciding to work late in his office. All her previous nervousness turned to anger.
She decided to give herself five more minutes before she barged into her mate’s office to create a scene.
As if her thoughts were conveyed to him telepathically, the door to the room opened, and Kieran walked in. Serenity scoffed. “Oh, you are here. I thought you were planning to spend the night tonight in your office.”
The Alpha arched one of his eyebrows. “You were waiting?”
“Don’t be ridiculous. I sleep very lightly. I am simply afraid of you ruining my sleep. Once my sleep is interrupted, it is hard for me to fall back to sleep again.” Serenity made up a convincing excuse.
