Chapter 17: Strangle

Amarantha's POV

I shuddered.

I quickly hid my necklace inside my fist and returned my gaze to her. "N-no. It's not for sale. This is important for me..." I eagerly said to her.

But instead of arguing, I heard the old woman laugh at me. Then, her face changed.

I jumped in fear as I recognize the face.

It was Aruna.

She signaled me to stay silent and smiled at me. "You can only see this, human..." she informed me.

"W-why are you here?"

"I just want to warn you. Do not attempt to lose the necklace. The moment you do it, your soul will be mine quickly. Understood?"

I widened my eyes and quickly nodded. "Y-yes. Understood."

"Good. Now, go. You may keep that locket. I might as well just alter this old hag's memories. Go!" she hissed at me.

I obliged her words and quickly ran away from that place. I never attempted to look back again.
