Willow’s POV

A few hours later, I was awake again.

The chair beside my bed was empty.

For a brief moment, disappointment settled in my chest before I pushed it away.

It was ridiculous.

Three days ago I had been terrified of him after watching that girl being executed on his orders.

Now the empty chair beside my bed felt... wrong.

I sighed.

After sitting beside me for two days without sleeping, Mordecai was probably finally getting the rest he desperately needed.

The thought should have reassured

  • Alpha Mordecai: Love & Obsession   Chapter 116

Noah’s POVI stood frozen, unable to move or form a single word.Willow was standing right there in front of me, alive.I had spent weeks imagining every possible version of what I might find when I finally reached Blood Moon, and none of them had prepared me for this.I had expected her to look broken. Thinner. Weaker. Frightened, carrying the same exhausted look she had worn during her final days at Pinecrest, after how I had betrayed her. Instead she looked healthier than I had ever seen her in all the years I had known her. There was color in her face, strength in the way she carried herself, something bright in her eyes I hadn’t seen since before we ever had to start hiding what we were to each other. She looked beautiful. My relief at seeing her breathing, standing, whole, was almost overwhelming. Before I could move or speak, Mordecai let out a slow breath and looked toward her.“You’re not supposed to be here,” he murmured.I wanted to warn her. She was standing in front of th

  • Alpha Mordecai: Love & Obsession   Chapter 115

Noah’s POVThe man didn’t look as scary as the woman beside me, but he didn’t need to. His presence alone commanded the entire room without effort. Two people knelt on the floor in front of him, both clearly terrified. One was crying, her shoulders shaking with quiet, broken sobs. The other was trembling so violently I could see it from across the room. The man’s eyes moved to me. There was no expression on his face. Just calm.I straightened, forcing myself to find whatever composure I had left.“Alpha Mordecai, I—”“I am not Alpha Mordecai.”The words cut through my sentence flatly.I paused, thrown off entirely.“I’m the Beta.”It took my brain a full second to process that. The Beta.If he was only the Beta, then why was his aura so powerful? Did that mean that the scarred woman was the Gamma? So where in the hell was Alpha Mordecai? Before I could ask, the doors behind me opened. And every scrap of confidence I had carefully rebuilt on the walk here disappeared instantly.Alpha

  • Alpha Mordecai: Love & Obsession   Chapter 114

Noah’s POVThe scarred woman didn’t offer any explanation. She just turned and started walking, leaving me standing there for half a second before I forced myself to follow.I didn’t like the way she had spoken to me. I didn’t like being told to follow like some kind of subordinate. But I had no choice, and if following her silently was what it took to get answers about Willow, then I would follow her silently. We moved deeper into the territory, and I started noticing things.Every Blood Moon warrior we passed acknowledged her. Some bowed their heads slightly as she went by. Others stepped aside without being told, clearing a path automatically, like it was second nature. Whoever she was, she carried real authority here.None of them showed the slightest respect to me.I saw plenty of them glancing at me with obvious curiosity as we passed. But it wasn’t the kind of attention I was used to. Back home, and in every other territory I had ever visited as Pinecrest’s alpha heir, people r

  • Alpha Mordecai: Love & Obsession   Chapter 113

Noah’s POVNobody answered.“I asked where she is.”The lead warrior tilted his head slightly, studying me now with open suspicion. “Why are you looking for her?”The question hit me sideways. I had expected denial. I had expected them to tell me they had no idea who I was talking about, that no one by that name lived here, that I should turn around and go back the way I had come.Instead they were asking why. They knew her.“That’s not something I need to explain to you,” I said, drawing myself up, bringing out my authority. “I’m an Alpha heir. I asked you a direct question.”The warrior in front actually smiled slightly at my words, and it wasn’t a respectful smile.“You’re a Pinecrest Alpha heir,” he said, “standing alone on Blood Moon territory, asking about someone you clearly have no business asking about. Forgive me if your rank doesn’t carry much weight out here.”The dismissiveness in his tone made my jaw tighten. I wasn’t used to being spoken to like that, not by warriors se

  • Alpha Mordecai: Love & Obsession   Chapter 112

Noah’s POVI had been driving for hours, my hands tight on the steering wheel.I glanced at the rearview mirror as Pinecrest territory moved further away, watching the trees blur past, my mind racing through several thoughts. My father’s voice kept surfacing in my head, flat and unbothered, telling me he had corrected my mistake. Then it would fade into the memory of Davin’s terrified face, the words tumbling out of him before he could stop them. They took her to the Blood Moon pack.I had spent weeks trying to do this the right way.I had written letters, careful ones, phrased so they wouldn’t raise suspicion, addressed to people I knew within Blood Moon pack, asking simple questions about pack matters that could help with what I was actually trying to find out. None of them had been answered.I had sent messages through traders who moved between territories, men who owed me favors and might have been willing to ask a few questions on my behalf. They came back refusing to say anything

  • Alpha Mordecai: Love & Obsession   Chapter 111

Willow’s POVThe training grounds went quiet enough that I actually saw someone’s punch pause mid-strike.Mordecai straightened, said something to the warrior waiting for him, and walked off like nothing had happened at all.I stood there, completely stunned, my face burning so hot I was sure I would combust on the spot.“Pay attention,” Hela said, not even looking at me. “The match is still going.”She didn’t make a big deal of it, which I appreciated more than I could say.I forced myself to focus on the sparring again, though it took several long minutes before my heart stopped pounding.Diana found me not long after the session ended. The moment she saw me, her whole face lit up, and before I could say anything she pulled me into a hug.“I’m so happy for you,” she said, and there wasn’t a single trace of teasing in it, just genuine warmth. “Both of you.”Something in my chest loosened at that. It was one thing to have Mordecai care about me. It was another thing entirely to have p

Willow’s POVI don’t know how long I sat there sobbing my heart out.My throat started to ache and my body ran out of the energy to cry. I pulled my knees up to my chest and wrapped my arms around them as I just sat there in my tiny room, staring at nothing. My room had been a storage room once, bu

Willow’s POVI pushed Noah back with both hands until he let go of me.“It changes nothing?” I echoed flatly. He blinked. “I just meant—”“That’s what you just said to me. It changes nothing.” I glared at him through my tears. “Do you hear yourself?”“Willow —”“Am I supposed to feel better right n

Willow’s POVI didn’t know when I stopped breathing. I didn’t know when the paper and pouch the healer had given me slipped from my fingers. I was standing in the doorway and my vision had gone strange, like everything was suddenly too bright, and their voices had started sounding like they were co
