Four

Raidan Jacob

I stare at the drink in my arm, swirling the blue liquid around the glass.

My room was dead silent and my mind slowly drifted to the girl who had bumped into me yesterday. She was beautiful, She had a sculpted figure which was twine-thin. Her waist was tapered and she had a burnished complexion. A pair of arched eyebrows had looked down on sweeping eyelashes. Her delicate ears framed a button nose. Her set of dazzling, angel-white teeth gleamed beautifully. It was a pleasure to see her flowing, moon shadow-black hair. Her enticing, constellation-brown eyes had gazed at me over her puffy, heart-shaped lips as she cried when I had broken her phone.

I wonder who this girl was? She dared to speak rudely to me yesterday. She was indeed fierce, and her mother? The woman called me wicked. Well, it was no lie, many people did hate me a lot.

“Raiden, what have you been thinking about? I walked in and you didn’t even notice.” I looked up to see my Beta, Noah, staring down at me with a confused gaze.

“It’s nothing important, do you have the names of all the students?” I asked and he nodded. He placed the file on his arm on my table.

“Are their photos on it?” I asked and he equally nodded.

“Great, have all the teachers send me their reports after tomorrow’s class.” I had said to him, formally. Noah is my friend, and also my beta. We have known each other since we were babies, he is like a brother to me. He is amongst the people whose impudence I would tolerate.

“Why are you acting like this today? Are you sure you are okay?” He inquired again.

“I’m good Noah. Please, I need to access these files. Go away!” I shooed at him with my left arm.

“Okay if you say so,” He said and turned around to walk out of the door, but then he paused and swiftly turned around to face me again. “Are you coming to the party?” He asked, He had arranged a small welcoming party for the students, he had to trick me into accepting to let it hold though.

“No, is there anything important that would need my attention there?” I asked.

“No, but as Alpha, you need to address them. You made me do all your work, remember?” He said. I sighed.

“Okay, I’ll come. And yesterday, I went to the girl's hallway to inspect it, they seem to lack light bulbs over there. Please do ensure they get one today.” I said to him.

He let out a soft chortle. “Sure thing Alpha!” He said, I rolled my eyes at his mocking tone.

“Get out of my office before my wolf kills you,” I said, I could hear my wolf growl at the tone of Noah’s voice when he had mocked our title.

“Sure thing, I like my head!” He swiftly left my office and I let out a deep breath. Finally, peace, and quiet.

I glanced through the files and a photo of the girl from yesterday caught my eyes, “Davina Adams” I whispered the name that was boldly written on her page. Her photo did not do her looks any justice though, she looked uninterested in taking the photo.

She had no reports for today, so I closed the file and took a sip of my wine. I felt interested in getting to know the new girl, it was without a doubt that there was something weird about her, the very first day we met on the stairs, she wasn’t at all affected by my aura. Most omegas would fall to their knees at my presence, but she, she was different, and I have to keep an eye on her to find out who she truly was.

A knock sounded from the door, I was certain it wasn’t Noah, because he would have barged in. “Come in” I snarled, I was a bit tired so I wasn’t pleased with having a visitor.

The figure of my bodyguard was erected into the room, he looked really worried when he walked in. “Timon, what do you want now?” I asked calmly when I saw it was one of my favorite bodyguards.

“It’s one of the students Alpha, she’s having severe period cramps. The nurse called me to come to report this to you, in other to be added to her file.” He said, I rolled my eyes.

Women and their period cycles.

“What’s her name?” I asked while picking up the file and a pen before me.

“Davina Adams.” He said and my headshot right up calmly, what could be wrong with the fierce she-wolf?

“What’s her situation?” I asked while scribbling down some words on her file page.

“Very bad, she’s crying and shouting terribly” he responded.

“Not warrior material” I muttered and scribbled down the pieces of information relayed to me.

“She is a warrior material Alpha,” Timon was quick to defend her.

“And how do you know this?” I asked. From the way he spoke, he seemed to know much about her.

“She was my neighbor back then when I was an omega, she’s strong and fierce. I know this because she once managed to beat me up” He relayed. Hm, it seemed the girl was stronger than I thought, for a female omega, that was weird. Who truly is Davina Adams? Well, I sure will find out soon.

“For her to beat you up a male, it means she’s very strong” I concluded. He nodded.

“Did you go and check on her?” I asked him. He gave a negative nod in response.

“Okay then, come with me, I wish to see the state she’s in,” I said and Timon nodded.

As much as I didn’t want to stand up right now, I felt my own body moving in its accord.

Timon led me to the nurse's office, I barely knew my way around the academy. This is my first year coming here. Timon, on the other hand, had been a student here who had passed with the highest score.

As soon as we got to the nurse's office, I could hear the wailing of a girl, audibly. She sounded very much in pain. “Stay outside, I’ll inspect her condition and head back out” I had said to Timon, he looked really worried about her. I was certain there was more to them than just animosity.

Stepping into the nurse's office, the old cringed-looking nurse bowed her head and stepped out. Davina was certainly unaware of my presence as she wailed, she looked like a mess as she held unto her stomach firmly.

“Are you okay?” Came my husky voice. I was sure she was certain it was I because she cringed at the utterance of those words.

“Alpha!” She sat up and wiped her tears. Her brown dough-like eyes bored into mine, and the trace of tears was still visible on her cheek. “I’m okay” She croaked out.

“You don’t seem okay though, tell me, is this the type of attitude you would want to display when you become a warrior?” I asked. I seemed to have hit her soft spot, because, a frown formed on her face.

“I do not make myself bleed every month, do I?” She snarled. She was taken aback by her own words, it was evident on her face.

“I see, well I just came to check up on you. It seems you have gotten better, from the domineering tone of your voice, I can tell.” I said. The girl seemed not affected by my aura, her eyes were boring right into mine.

“I’m sorry Alpha, I didn’t mean to sound rude.” She apologized. I didn’t spare her a glance and walked out. That girl had nerves to talk back to me, Alpha Raiden. The world most feared Alpha, as the news reporters had tagged me as.

Her attitude made my blood boil and equally got me wanting to find out who Davina Adams truly was. What type of Omega was she and why has she gotten me wrapped around her little fingers, making me want to know more about her? I must find out and I know just how to do that.
