Davina Adams

I stare at the mop in my arm, swirling the stick around the plastic bucket.

My body is exhausted and I don’t think I can continue the work I have ahead of me today, though certainly Mrs. Thompson would not be pleased with my decision to leave so early.

A knock sounded from the door and I immediately shifted my gaze over to where the knock was coming from. Heaving softly, I took calm strides over to the door and twisted it open to find Mr. Thompson staring back at me.

“Didn’t you say you were sick yesterday? why are you here today?” He asked. I didn’t know what reply to give to him. I just stared plainly at my feet.

“I’m speaking to you Davina, are you okay?” I can hear the worry in his voice. I sighed lightly and then looked up at him.

“I need the wage for today to purchase medicine for myself,” I said softly. He looked at me with a disapproving nod.

“You should have told me to help you with the money. Common, take and head back home, you need medication.” He said. “Don’t let my female see you on your way out though.” He added.

Mr. Thompson is a very nice man, but his female, Mrs. Thompson, isn’t nice at all. Sometimes I wonder what was going through his mind when he fell in love with her.

“Thank you very much, Mr. Thompson, I appreciate this a lot. Tomorrow I’ll come as early as possible” I said. He let out a light chortle.

“Don’t come tomorrow, I’ll speak to my female, you need rest.” He assured. I smiled at him thankfully before he swiftly left. I ambulated towards the bucket of water, I picked it up and headed to pour the dirty water away after rinsing the mop in the sink.

Immediately I was done arranging everything, I picked up my bag and swiftly ran out of the house without getting noticed by Mrs. Thompson or her son.

Once I arrived at the bus station, I hopped on a bus that took me straight home. I stayed in the downtown of the pack where the omegas are made to stay. It was not that nice of a place but at least my mother lived there. As omegas, we do not get to see the Alpha of our pack, we do not even know what he looks like. But rumors have it that our Alpha, Alpha Raiden, is the most powerful and feared Alpha in the world. They say he is wicked and very ruthless, sometimes I wonder how such a young man was able to make everyone cringe at the utterance of his name in such a short span of two years as Alpha. I wouldn’t love to step on his shoes ever.

Hopping down from the bus, I can see an SUV parked right in front of my house. Were we in trouble?, the only time such cars come to visit people in our neighborhood was when they had done something that had pissed off the Alpha. The last time such a car came to visit, the families were taken away, and to date, we haven’t seen them since then. People believed that Alpha Raiden had killed them for something treacherous that they did.

I walked fast to the front door to find it open, I could hear the laughter of my mother and another woman so I calmed down. It meant we were safe. I immediately erected into the living room to see a tall, fair woman staring back at me, along with my mother.

“Good afternoon” I muttered. The woman smiled happily at me. Her face seemed familiar but I failed miserably at trying to remember where I had seen her before.

“Davina, welcome home, thank goodness. Mrs. Hebrew was planning to leave” My mother announced. Mrs. Hebrew, the name did ring a bell, but I failed miserably again at remembering where I had heard that name before.

“Davina, it’s nice seeing you again. You are all grown up” The woman said. I smiled nervously at her.

“Don’t you recognize her?” My mother asked and I nodded in the negative. “She’s our former neighbor, the one whose son got nominated into the wolf academy.” My mother said. Now I remembered her and her annoying son, Timon. I also remember being glad when they left because of him. Timon was annoying and never failed to make me angry whenever we crossed paths.

I had to pretend to be happy seeing her here, “Oh I remember, nice having you here,” I said with a fake smile. The woman was as annoying as her son. I remember her trying to get me to date her son, it was embarrassing for me.

“I wish I could stay longer and catch up on all I have missed, but I have to go,” She said sadly, I was pleased to hear that she would be leaving soon. “Davina, I have your nomination letter here with me, you have been nominated to join the wolf academy.” She stated. My eyes instantly grew wide, was I dreaming or something, I needed to get pinched right now.

“Wolf academy? how? when?” I squealed. The wolf academy is one of the top organizations in our pack, they nominate young omegas, both female and male to compete for a spot in the wolf academy and join the warriors. The warriors, warriors are part of the high wolves, which will give you a great chance of moving into the pack house with your family. Yes, that is how Mrs. Hebrew went from being an omega to a worker in the pack house due to her son's newly acquired status, he became part of Alpha Raiden’s bodyguards, so I heard.

“Yes, you got nominated, Timon helped me get you a spot though.” She said. My smile almost flattened for a second, now I owe him a thank you when I get there.

“Oh my God, I’m grateful,” I said. I was grateful that he helped, but the fact that I would have to see his face was slightly annoying. But on the bright side, it wouldn’t be every day.

“Here is your letter, A bus will come to pick you up tomorrow at 10 am.” She said. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, I had gotten into the wolf academy.

“Thank you very much” My mother stood up along with Mrs. Hebrew who drew me into a warm hug. It was a sudden action so I found myself falling unto her chest, she was tall for a lady.

“And also, I must warn you, Alpha Raiden will be in attendance at this year's Wolf academy program. So please, be on your best of behaviors because I might not see you till after the training.” She said, the simple mentioning of Alpha Raiden sent shivers down my spine. Right now I’m not only getting into the wolf academy but being amongst the few omegas to meet the young, scary, bad Alpha.

It felt like a dream. Everything about her was so familiar, yet so distant. As we ate in silence, I felt my heart racing with anticipation. DAVINA’S POVI was sitting alone in my living room when the doorbell rang. I hesitated for a moment, wondering who it could be, but when I opened the door, I saw that it was Gaven, Raiden's best friend."Hey Davina," he said, stepping into my apartment. "Can we talk for a minute?"I nodded, closing the door behind him. "Sure, what's up?"Gaven took a seat on the couch across from me and cleared his throat. "I know this might be difficult, but I have to ask. Are you sure you want to go through with this wedding?"I felt a knot form in my stomach as I avoided his gaze. "Yes, of course. Why would you even ask that?""Because I know you, Davina. And I know how much you loved Raiden."My heart ached at the mention of his name. "I still do love him," I admitted quietly. "But I can't be with him. Not after everything that's happened.""But do you really want to marry Ignacio? Or are you just settling because it's easier?"I looked at Gaven, tears starting to form in my eyes. "I don't know wh

As I was preparing breakfast for him, my phone rang and I saw that it was Ignacio calling."Hey, Ignacio. What's up?" I answered, trying to sound casual."I just wanted to check up on you. I was worried when you didn't come home last night," he replied, concern lacing his voice."Oh, I'm fine. I had some work to catch up on, so I stayed at the restaurant to focus," I lied smoothly."Are you sure that's all it was?" he asked, skepticism creeping into his tone."Yes, I'm sure. Why would you think otherwise?" I countered, feeling a bit defensive."I don't know, Davina. It just seems like you're pulling away from me. And with the wedding coming up, I can't help but worry," he explained."Ignacio, you have nothing to worry about. I love you and I'm committed to our future together," I reassured him, hoping that my words would ease his concerns."Okay, I trust you.

RAIDEN’S POVAs I sat in my office, I could feel Davina's presence outside my door, hesitant to come in. I knew I had to face her eventually, but I wasn't sure if I was ready for it. Eventually, she knocked softly and walked in, looking nervous."Raiden, can we talk?" she asked tentatively.I took a deep breath and nodded, gesturing for her to take a seat. "What do you want to talk about?" I asked, trying to keep my tone neutral."I just wanted to... apologize," she said, fidgeting with her hands. "I know I hurt you and I didn't mean to. I never wanted things to end up this way between us."I felt a surge of anger rise up in me at her words, but I pushed it down. "You never wanted things to end up this way? You're engaged to another man, Davina. That's not exactly a great way to show someone you care about them.""I know," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "But I had to do something to get over you. Ignacio proposed and I said yes, but it doesn't mean I don't still have feel
