Chapter 12

Alex stands in front of the huge window,sunlight falling on his features. We both approach him and I tap on his shoulder. 

He turns around, his face stoic. 

"Alex. Where were you for so many days?" Tessa asks impatiently. I nod. 

Alex smiles but it doesn't reach his melancholic eyes that look down on the floor. 

"Hey. What's wrong?" I hold his shoulder.

Alex looks up,his green eyes glistening in tears and his lips pressed in a thin line. Tessa and I look at him blankly. 

"The selection match happened and I lost it all. Later,the professors told me that I am not worthy of even being part of the lowest coven." Sobs escape his tear stricken lips and he looks down again.

I pull him for a consoling hug and Tessa caresses his back. My own jaw tightens at the thought of him getting rejected like that. I kno
