Chapter 0005

SERAPHINA'S POV

I stood outside the palace with my new friend, Rune. I looked at him with a worried look in my eyes.

"Are you sure you want to do this? You don't have to go this far for me..." I let my voice trail off. He didn't even know me so I wondered why he was going out of his way to help me.

He smiled at me. Somehow, his smile was enough to make me calm down almost immediately.

"I got this. Trust me" Those were the only words he needed to say. I immediately felt my heart calming down.

We made our way into the palace together. As we walked, I sensed some maids stopping to stare and sneer at me.

I didn't pay attention to this though. I told myself that I had lost all respect after what Lucius did to me. I didn't even have the strength to live anymore.

I didn't have the energy to care about what they were saying to me.

"It seems.....most people don't like you here?" Rune asked me.

He had a pitiful look in his eyes as he asked me this. I just shrugged. I was the one who got myself into this situation by falling for Lucius and getting abandoned.

He seemed to notice that I wasn't comfortable and he stopped asking me.

I went to the throne room because I knew that was where my father would be at this time of the day.

As I walked in, I saw that my father was the only one in the throne room. My mother was also there, along with my younger sister.

They all seemed so happy together ...they were like the perfect family picture and I felt like I was just an outsider.

Alpha Logan turned to look at me. There was a hint of disgust in his eyes but it turned into anger when he saw the person behind me.

"Who is that person Seraphina and why have you brought him here?" My father asked me.

"I ..." I opened my mouth to say something but it was as if I could not form words. I had never been so lost for words in my life before.

"Can't you say something?! What is going on with you Seraphina? We have already accepted that you are a disgrace to this family but you can't keep doing things like this. Don't tell us that you are going to leave for this person again? If you do that, then you should never think about coming back to this place because we are not going to accept you back. We will be done with you then. Are you sure you are ready for that?" The Luna sneered at me as she asked this.

I had never felt so embarrassed in my life before. I glanced at Rune embarrassed. I didn't want him to see me like this

I had poured out my heart to him and he knew that I wanted to end my life just some hours ago but I was still ashamed to have him here when my parents were talking to me like this.

"Why aren't you saying anything?! Don't you think that we are going to tolerate your behaviour after....."

"Your Highness, I am Rune. A good friend of your daughter, Seraphina. I met her today and she told me a lot of things ..."

Rune was addressing my father but he interrupted him.

"Did she tell you about the things that she did?! Did she tell you that she abandoned her family to go after a man who didn't even want her and when she was abandoned, she came crawling back here because no one else would accept her?" Alpha Logan asked as he glared at me.

I winced and took a few steps back but Rune grabbed my hand just then and forced me to stand still. Having his hands in mine gave me a sense of comfort.

"Yes. She told me these things. But I don't think that you should blame her completely for this. She made a mistake but I think that she has paid for her mistake. She was abandoned by her mate who was supposed to love her. He embarrassed her and kicked her out of the pack. I think that he is the one you should hate for what he did to your daughter! He betrayed her and left her! She doesn't deserve this when all she ever did was love him!" Rune told the Alpha.

He scoffed at this. "Well, she was the one who made the decision to go with him no matter what we told her! She chose to go with him so she has to deal with the consequences of her actions!" I didn't think my father was going to forgive him.

He really hated me for the way I embarrassed him.

I looked at Rune. I knew that he wanted to help but I didn't think my father was going to budge. I just wanted to disappear from that place....

"Rune....I think we should leave..." I said in a small voice but he wasn't buying that.

"No. I am here to talk to your parents. I promised you I would do that and that is what I am going to do!" He said to me firmly.

Then he turned to my parents.

"Your Highness....I know that she should deal with the consequences of her actions and she's doing that. She was abandoned by the person she trusted the most. I think that's enough. Do you know that she wanted to end her life because of how guilty she felt?!" Rune addressed my parents.

My mother looked up at me just then. She was still mad at me. I knew that. But there was a hint of worry in her look now.

"What?! Is this true?! Were you going to end your life because of someone who doesn't even care about you, Seraphina?!" Luna shouted at me.

"No, she was going to end her life because she feels guilty!"
